There were none of the premier three #1's on the DL and no Vrabel. And yes, it looked alot like 2003 and 2004.

Did Belichick force Pees to watch old films or did he just draw up the game plan himself? It was great to see everyone standing until the last second. It was great to see everyone put in a position to do great. And it was great to see a group of OK players look great.

Special kudos go out to Banta-Cain and Wright. They were outstanding! The rest just did their jobs. And to Brace: welcome to the NFL! Brace did fine. He drew double teams and made some rookie mistakes. He wasn't Wilfork, but he was a reasonable NFL NT, whihc is high priase for a rookie in his first significant reps.

And yes, I know it was the Bills. The real monkey on the patriots' back had nothing to do with other teams. It had to do with their own game plans.

And finally, kudos to Moss and Thomas.

A great effort today. BTW as of this minute our defense is now 3rd best in PPG

I guess the playoffs will settle "who they are". Not to be a pessemist but I think they are better than average against average or bad teams, but don't rise to the challenge at almost all key moments against the teams we'll see in the playoffs. Hopefully new stars will emerge this coming playoffs and new stories will be written.

It did look like the Defense of Years past. Maybe with Wilfork and Warren
out it forced them to find another way. I sure hope it continues!

Yeah I'm not saying their the 3rd best defense in the league or anything but I think they're doing better than what alot of people are giving them credit for.

I was much more suprised (again) with our lack of 2nd half scoring than the D coming up bigger than expected. After the first drive, I thought : yikes - this is gonna be bad. But, they did basically allow Buffalo a drive to start the game and one to finish the game, that's it.

Even Brace was cool, he may have been pushed early - but was being pushed by a minimum of two guys per play !

I'm way more concerned as well with our terrible second half offense. Another down right awful performance, one has to wonder when if ever will it end?

I really liked seeing BB have guys standing up, stunting, he was bringing guys from all over the place.

Thought those guys did a great job. This game was close because the offense was awful in the 2nd half.

agreed 100%...I'm beginning to hate O'Brien

i have to say i was redy to give up on brace, but he played ok it was takeing two guys to push him he's not wilfork.but he did a nice job

i would like to see guyton and mayo do a better job of takeing on blocks the FB was eating them up

They did a great job. I wonder how often the 0-5-6 look will be used down the stretch and in the playoffs.

They played against Ryan Fitzpatrick, a bad Bills team, and Fred Jackson got 5.3 YPC. Please don't disrespect the 2003 defense with this comparison.

If the defense can do this against a better team, that's one thing. I think the Billls give us the opportunity to take chances with the defensive scheme. Hopefully, it's a step closer to mixing things up against more dangerous teams.

Yes I completely agree with you on this. The defense looked good today but look who they went up against, you cant make any comparisons to the 03 defense. I would like to see them blitz more, I think they are more sucessful when they do that and put pressure on the opposing teams QB. Todays performance is something to build on, but definitely does not deserve to be compared to 03.

brace looked like crap during the game.....not sure why he looks good now

I never get too excited when something new works well for a game. I think it's great that they line people in the box played well ... but the Bills also had little to go on in preparing for it. These guys look good in spots when the regulars are in.

For all those complaining each week that we need this star and we need that star ... today was a game where depth pulled it out for us. These guys are not starters but they are better than JAG's ... so they get paid a bit better than JAG's and we win a few thanks to this depth. One extra star takes away a Wright and/or a Banta-Cain ... I'll take the depth all day long.

It might be the Bills and Fitzpatrick/Edwards but you guys gotta remember how good we made a couple nobody QB's look lately. This defense is pretty good, contrary to what Dierdork said.. they are more talented then they have been in the past. They are just way less experienced and are still learning. It was very nice to see the old 0-5-6 or whatever it is D in there today... I just like seeing some wrinkles and mixing it up a bit. Not a bad job overall today missing our 2 best D linemen and as we all witnessed great games by TBC and Wright... I thought Bodden and McGowan made some great tackles.

I would be impressed if it was against the colts or chargers.
