They had two starters out and did fine, as I expected. Vollmer is the real deal. Connolly is OK for a RG. I would certainly like to see the position upgraded, but he is OK. And no matter what some posters think, Belichick and dante are more than happy with Light, Mankins and Koppen.

2010 is the year to change our starting RT and RG. We have one in place in Vollmer, and one more to secur, if Connolly or Orhnberger aren't the answer.

They didn't yield any sacks, but it felt like Brady was under siege all day. This is the first time in a while I felt nervous for his knee again. Granted, the Bills have a good pass rush and we weren't leaving in extra blockers much, so the short time to pass was by design. The receivers not getting open in time is more the problem.

The line gave Brady plenty of time. The one time Brady was hit by a blitzing defender, it was Faulk who missed the block.

Yes, that was a blitz and Faulk tackled badly. Schobel leaped over him and he swated Brady's leg.

Schobel has been a nemesis of the Patriots for a long time..

And the Brady bashers will be all over the, "hes pleading for a call" stuff..(which is was but that is the rule). Why they didn't call it- not sure.

Brady had plenty of time. At times I was yelling "Drew throw it" when he held it so long.

The stats will show that Brady has time to throw and the OL hasn't given up sacks, but it seems like the pocket is very narrow this year--reminds me of Steve Young's 49ers offensive line. There aren't those huge pocket gaps that we gave Cassel and the 2007 Brady. It just seems that Brady doesn't have enough space to step up in the pocket to make throws on a consistent basis.
