Sure the Colts and the Saints could both go 16 - 0, but as we know in New England, that means nothing unless you go all the way to 19 - 0. I strongly believe that both teams will fail in the post season before the big game. The reason being is they are playing at a level like we were that at this point, one mistake will de-rail your season and that great record you had is now just a memory. Path to Nowhere is where I see the two teams going. They will get knocked out by surpise and the fans will be feeling it for a long time.

i dont know..whatever they are doing,however they are doing ..its great .We dont have to be like mercury morris justifying their wins. I can see indy in the SB more than NO because the NFC has more than one team-phl,minn- which can give NO a game and especially NO's defense is not as good as indy's.

The Colts going 19-0 would be tough to swallow, but I agree, I don't want to be like the Dolphins and the pathetic guys on that squad who sit around rooting for teams to lose.

Ideally, though, I can see a scenario in which we end the Colts undefeated streak in January. I'd be very confident if we played them again. We had them on the ropes, and an awful lot of freakish things occurred for us to lose that game. Not saying it couldn't happen again, but I'd take our chances.

My bet is Indy is one and done.

If this site can get over the trauma of a two game losing streak, it might not be bad to remember how the Pats truly dominated that game.

Besides, it's interesting that 5 of the last 8 #1 seeds have been "one and done" and only 1 #1 seed has actuall won the SB (Pats 2003) in the past 10 years.

The trend seems to be the team hoisting the Lombardi are teams that go through late season trauma and then focus in January.

Even if the Pats were 12-1 or 11-2, I would have the very same level of confidence as 8-5.

The Colts have had so many close calls this year. Someone is eventually going to get them in the playoffs. Plus, they're famous for their lackluster playoff record, so there's obviously something about postseason play that gets to them.

As for the Saints, I wouldn't be shocked in the least bit if they lost to the Vikings or Eagles in the playoffs.

I agree, especially after seeing how easy Manning made it look when he loobed a pass to Wayne to take the final lead last night.

Breaks and calls go to either team and we have to give credit to Indy for getting a W.

To those thinking that NO had it easy: didn't they have at least one OT game that they pulled off and a few other games where they were down until the last few minutes? (and talk about calls going their way! they benefitted more from dubious calls than Indy IMO. But heck, they pulled it off and should be commended for not losing focus.)

So, instead of view both Indy and NO as sour grapes, I am watching their achievements with respect and envy.

But yes, I am also hoping that we manage to get our groove and beat them both if we meet them.

First though, a nice W over the Bills with no injuries would be wonderful.

Yes a win over the Bills is the right direction towards the ultimate goal.

I take nothing away from the accomplishments of the two teams. I was just saying that they are playing at such a high level of intensity that they will crack and make season ending mistake. I personally won't feel bad.

Take away the absymal Butler PI call and the Pats win by 13.

You mean if Pats does make it to SB, Saints will go 19-0? Saints would love to see us again... it will by 45-17. I think Colts/Chargers/Cincy will be much tougher match up for Saints because these teams actually have credible pass defense.

its just my opinion but NO has come closer to losing quite a bit than indy and indy is experienced. same holds for NO, 1 play going another direction NO couldve lost to washington and atlanta. But NO's defense isnt that great. i can see both PHL and minn hanging with them . unfortunately minn pass defense is bad too so ..

i would not count out philadelphia. SD - too many people are predicting them to beat indy which iam not so sure of. but i think they are the only threat to indy.
the jax loss helped the pats yesterday but wouldve been nice to play them in the first round.

While both NO and IND are impressive football teams and are deserving of their undefeated record, let's face the facts....ANY undefeated team this late in the season has had their share of close call and plays/penalties/etc. going in their favor. These two teams are no exception. As much as it pains me to say this, neither of their "perfect" seasons has been in as dominating a fashion as your Pats 2 years ago. They're winning, which is all that reall matters of course, but neither team is what I would call "dominating". There are LOTS of teams in the league who can or could have handed them their first loss. No credit taken away from them, but the stars just alligned for them in many of their games this season. And again, as you all know better than most....none of it means a thing unless you hoist that Lombardi at the end of it all.

The playoff picture isn't set in stone yet, but I think just about ANY playoff caliber team has a good shot of knocking NO and IND down. SD is playing some good football and seems to have Indy's number. The Eagles certainly have the talent to do it as well, but I see them as an inconsistant threat at this point. Your Pats could possibly knock them out, and hell...Denver could pull it off! NO has the potential in my opinion to be knocked off as well by ANY of the NFC playoff teams. "Any given Sunday", right? It all comes down to who has the focus and who gets hot at the right time.

But whoever posted above that YOU people as Pats fans need to be concerned with beating BUF this week is right. All this hype around undefeated teams is just that....hype. And again, not to take away from their accomplishments, but the only thing that REALLY matters is winning in Florida on Feb. 7th.
