Let's talk about Kaczur instead of Moss

What's his pay for the next couple years?

It would be IDEAL if he could be a top backup. Light at LT, then Mankins, Koppen, Neal, and Vollmer at RT. I personally would LOVE this lineup and think it could be a very dominant line. If Vollmer gets injured, Kaczur takes his place. If Light gets injured, Vollmer can take his place and Kaczur can play RT.

If Kaczur is our back we are in great shape.

but if Neal gets injured???? You forgot him. Nick would make a very good swing BU, but the Neal problem NEEDS to be addressed. Perhaps it has, in the form of Rich Ohrnberger, but we just don't know about him yet. When Neal goes down, the line has problems, and he goes down alot. I'd really like to see guard addressed this offseason. Simmons wouldve been good, but, oh well

Oh good grief.

Oh good grief.

I wasn't sure which you'd prefer for future reference, so I put in 2 to choose from....

Yep, he scares me too often, would prefer to see vollmer in ther.

Is Kaczur good, Box? Or not under average?

Last year Box said it would take a top 10 pick to upgrade Kaczur at RT, so I'm guessing the former.

I vote for the 2nd Charlie Brown picture, BTW.

I agree Pat, he is the weakest link on the O-line. I wonder if Light can play RT and keep Vollmer at LT?

Everyone is talking about Light being gone after this year. I doubt it. I expect Light to be starting at LT next year, Vollmer at RT, and Kazcur either as a back up or trying to be converted to a RG.

+1

I think that Vollmer is going to be the starting RT for the remainder of this year, and most likely next yer too. Sooner or later Vollmer will be the starting left tackle for this football team, and everyone who cried about drafting him in the 2nd round (me included) have to admit that he is a steal! Light has been the starting LT on 4 Superbowl teams, so please let's not throw him out with the bathwater just yet. The only question left is: Can Kaczur slide down to RG?

I think Kaczur stinks.

Sorry if you're reading this, Kaczur.

That is all.

I agree.

But Dan Connelly stinks worse, so Bill should replace him at RG w/ Kaczur, and keep SeaBass at RT.

And I'm not sorry if Kaczur, or Connelly, is reading this.

That is all.

Kazur is serviceable but is playing on two bad ankles. At the end of the day Vollmer is a MUCH better player at RT.

Ummm, I sincerely hope he's der Ubertackle, since das is the neuter pronoun in German. :scared:

Guess you missed the medical details on his horrific injury vs the JETS

finally somebody that sees the real problem, what is going on with kaczur? He got bad real fast, I always see him getting beat i thought maybe he's just too big and slow but then i watch him and he gets overpowered too wtf?

Interesting to hear people say that some of Kaczur's poor play is a symptom of the RG being injured or ineffective.

I've observed Kaczur being totally blown up one on one the last two times that Tom threw picks:
-- getting rushed by Kaczur via a good bull rush from Peppers and threw it haphazardly into double coverage.
-- had Kaczur's block responsibility draped around his waist on the final play in the Miami comeback that never was.

Kaczur's level of play goes down dramatically when Stephen Neal (who is a beast) is injured. It shows. When Neal is in, he's more than adequate for us. When Connolly is in, and Neal isn't in there to help him as much while taking on his own man, Kaczur's weaknesses are exposed. You can more than see this in the Colts game. When Neal was in, Mathis was a non-factor. When Neal went out, Mathis took over the game for the Colts defense and almost single handedly stopped some of our drives because he was in Brady's face. Connolly's man constantly gets into the backfield as well. I've also noticed that Koppen's play stands to improve when Neal is in. If the Super Bowl didn't prove it for anybody, and the beginning of the 2008 season didn't do it either, then the games that Neal has missed this season should. He's one of, if not THE, most imporant guy on this O-Line.

Then it's really unfortunate that he's so injury-prone.

Nick Kaczur's extension

The following are details from Nick Kaczur's contract extension, which extends through 2012:

The base salaries are as follows:

2009: $2 million
2010: $2.7 million
2011: $3.4 million
2012: $4.1 million

The deal includes an option bonus of $3.5 million. It is not known when the option bonus is due, but there is a clause in the contract that says if the option is not exercised, Kaczur's base salary would jump to $2.72 million in 2009.

That seems to mean that Kaczur's option bonus is due at some point this year.

Kaczur also has workout bonuses of $100,000 in 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Keep in mind Kaczur is 30 years old. The Patriots drafted him when he was 26.

At age 33 and with chronic back problems, it probably won't get any better. A healthy Neal is terrific, but I just don't think we can rely on that for the future.

Indeed it is. Him being injured has basically translated into Brady having a bad finger and cracked ribs. :(

He was playing decently earlier in the year ... but Vollmer is Vollmer so...
