Another one of these threads?

One thing you may have forgtten is the last year with Brady at the helm that this team failed to make the playoffs was in 2002....that was the last time the team wore the throwbacks.

The throwbacks certainly look like they are a jinx but they still are so gosh darn awesome!

Not too sure I totally agree it's the uniforms.

We were 2-1 with the reds, with our 2 wins being a stunning comeback against BUF, and a 59-0 romp of the Titans. The only loss came by a lousy point to MIA.

With the white unis we lost a 20-17 game to DEN in OT no less.

The total combined score of the 2 losses was 4 pts.

2-1 reds/ 0-1 whites. When you're a point away from going 3-0 with the reds, I'm not so sure you can blame the uniforms. Everyone clamered for them in the offsesaon, I think the team simply didn't play well enough in that game to win (vs.MIA).

Besides, we've lost more games this yr with the newer uniforms--so I don't think that's the problem.

They did struggle against the Lions back in that 02 game...

You could be quite right, but that game is debatable too I guess. I'm not sure that we weren't struggling somewhat that year, as we went 9-7 and lost the tiebreaker to go to the playoffs, etc.

The Pats were up 17-6 at the half, holding DET to 2 FG's. They were indeed somewhat flat in the 2nd half, but the game wasn't really in doubt IIRC. (I did look up the scoring summary as I needed refreshed;) )

DET used to play a little tougher on Thnxgiving Day back then + kind of an off year for the Pats, but you could be on to something--no doubt. Everyone will have their own opinion about the uni's, etc, but I don't think losing a close game at MIA in Dec (where TB is now 0-3 in Dec) says too much. If they don't lose by a point there, they go 3-0 in the reds this year.

A lot were wanting the throwbacks this year, as they topped the throwback 'ranking' list, according to nfluniformhistory.com. I just don't know how fair it is to blame the red uni's on losing 1 game out of 3 to Miami by a point in Dec.

This would be our losses this yr in uniforms:

3 newer flying elvis
1 red throwbacks
1 white throwbacks

Unless I'm very mistaken, we were wearing throwbacks for the titans game this year. I'll bet 59-0 on it

I like the jerseys

the old helmets, no

I hope they ditch the silver alt unis.

I'd like to see the Pats have a red version of their modern day jerseys as a nod to the old unis.

Or keep the throwbacks as their alt. I like both.

I will say.

Keep the throw back whites.

They are super looking.

Shame it costs $99 to ship to Ireland.

Or Kraft can simply replace the current uniforms with the retro ones but having the blue as the dominant color instead of the red.

Also, the Patriot logo shouldn't have been replaced to begin with. These are the best (old school) local team logos in MA, in my opinion. Because they're straightforward and basic in concept. Sometimes, being basic is better.

Hush

The Flying Elvis > any other logo

Hush

The Flying Elvis > any other logo

You hush... There's no argument here.

The old Patriots logo > the trendy new Patriots logo
Tradition > Commercialism

I'll settle this once and for all: The old uniforms have bad mojo. All the winning this franchise has experienced has been with the blue unis and Flying Elvis. THAT is the new tradition. I like Pat Patriot as a bit of nostalgia, but time marches on and a new tradition has been established. Besides, red never made sense for a Patriot uniform; the enemy (British) wore red. Time to let the throwbacks rest.

It's not like uniforms carry a curse or affect the performance of the team. The Jets have changed and updated their uniforms numerous times and the team continues to suck.

Exactly. It's irrelevant.

People seem to forget that the Patriots did reach the Super Bowl as a wild card team for the 1985 season. They did so in fact wearing those old uniforms. Granted that was the peak, but there has been winning seasons during the seventies, and at time during the eighties. They'd experienced success... It just wasn't of the magnitude as it has been in this decade.

I understand that fans want to forget the past because when it comes to New England Patriots football, there's more you would like to not remember than to remember. But the fact of the matter is: The new logo doesn't resemble Elvis Presley nor is it one of the better logos in the NFL. It was created to be chic, in my opinion. It reeks of marketing ploy. It isn't traditional no matter how anyone wants to spin it.

So I'll settle the argument. The new logo represents the new school and the old logo represents the old school. I prefer tradition over selling people on a new look to do nothing more than make money. That's fine. But don't ignore or dismiss your past. No past, no future.

The old Patriots logo rules. Tradition rules. Props to the Celtics and the Bruins for not entirely selling out as the Patriots have done.

I was watching the Bledsoe led Patriots in a game on NFLN last week and looking at those helmets with the flying elvis,it looked like the silver of the helmet was more of a dull look back them and now is a shiny silver...is that right?

Might've been the picture quality, but you could be right. I know the blue then was royal blue vs. the current navy blue.

Have they played a good game in them outside of the titans game? I'm a young buck, born in 90 so I obviously have no memory of them playing in those uni's. My dad dreads whenever they wear them, now I see why.
