I am not willing to go crazy over the whole "Brace's progress or lack thereof" subject. But am I the only one who finds it weird that it was recently activated T. Adams getting snaps at nose (with Pryors' absence) over Ron Brace ?

Maybe it IS too soon to be too critical of Brace, but I wonder why Pryor AND Adams are more dependable in game situations than Brace. Am I reading too much into it ?

Re: Adams over Brace ?

They are ahead of Brace in the depth chart. There is no more to it.

Re: Adams over Brace ?

he did play next to a top 10 pick at BC and that top 10 pick is not doing much for the packers this year

adams was geting blown 5 yerds off of the ball on ever snap

if brace can't beat him out it's not good

Remember when we could easily trade wilfork because brace could step right in at nose tackle, even though he didn't play 3-4 in College?

Well, welcome to reality (former posters). Brace projects to be a NT, doesn't mean he'll make the conversion. Myron's a 4-3 penetrating tackle with speed, I don't think he's playing nose (could be wrong). Titus has bounced around among a few teams since 2006. Tells you he probably has learned what he needs to do to stick somewhere. Also Titus probably realizes how hard playing Nose is and is dedicated to learning.

Brace's plus his his mass, but he has to learn and thrive in one of the most demanding positions on the field. Though they've tried him elsewhere, he's too slow to be other than a Nose T, IMO.

Silly to think he would easily replace Wilfork. If he works his ass off, he might be a decent backup or more guaranteeing a lucrative career. Wilfork could be a star at either 3-4 or 4-3, while all the others are ham and eggers in comparison.

Re: Adams over Brace ?

Brace was drafted to hopefully replace Wilfork after two years of development. Wilfork will be franchised next year. Why wouldn't he be, unless he were extended.

FOr the patriots, it takes time to develop players in the 34.

Wilfork will either be gone or have a long term contract. where do you get two years?

Re: Adams over Brace ?

I've heard Brace discussed on WEEI by several knowledgable football people and they all say it was a good pick and brace will be a good NFL player. Pryor got playtime over him because he's a bit quicker and more versatile ... I think we were expecting a 4-3 after Seymour was traded with Vince and Ron in the middle - it was interesting to think of the possibilities.

Here's to hoping for the latter

Re: Adams over Brace ?

????
YEAR 1 rookie year, not much expected
YEAR 2 playe behind the franchised Wilfork

Obviously if someone gives us 2 first round draft picks for one year of WIlfork's services, then we will need to see how to best use the picks along with other picks to best improve our defense.

Some posters here forget the point that we have the luxury of bringing Brace along slowly, and are doing so. Just because he isn't being played does not mean he is a bust in any sense of the word. that is addition by subtraction.

From what I watched on film today, Adams was abused at NT against the Panthers. He's undersized for the position and Brace would likely be a better option. However, I've seen that there might be some work ethic/weight issues going on with Brace, so maybe that's the reason why he has seen so little time.

I agree, I don't think it's necessarily time to start calling Brace a bust. It's very unlikely that both Wilfork and Green will return in 2010, so the Pats are going to need a big body up front. They will have Wright, Pryor, and Brace to choose from.

Good answers... though I don't think I'm calling him a bust - just a bit surprised to see Adams go in before him.

The Carolina offense wasn't wowing me, thought maybe it'd be a decent op to get Brace some reps. We'll see I guess. I never expected Wilfork, but Adams ? I dunno.

They might feel that Brace and Wilfork are a bit of a redundency at this point. Adams had to play nose because they were in a pinch. Now if Adams beats out Brace and we have no Wilfork for this weekend, that's a different story entirely.

Why is any different than when Sands was brought in the last time WIlfork was injured?

ummm, BJ Raji is not "doing nothing" in Green Bay, in fact he's been very good as of late.

Brace looks to be another BB draft blunder, that list is getting long.

I think this is getting a tad old. Apart from a very tiny number of teams, "misses" are actually more probable than "hits". There have been quite a few 09 rookies to contribute - and since the early part of the decade, there have been several excellent drafts. Not one draft was a total bust - especially the 07 draft that so many like to refer to... forgetting, of course, that Welker, Moss, and Merriweather came from that draft.

Back to Brace - OK, we are giving him time, we are being patient... I guess I just thoguht that so late in the season, he'd be able to beat out Adams. Maybe I was wrong to assume that. I am not expecting a second round NT to make that Hall - but I don't think it's a strecth to want gim to beat T. Adams.

Wait! You're pronouncing Brace to be a bust in week #13 of his rookie year? Not to mention the fact that he's playing behind the #1 NT in the game. If Wilfork is out for any length, then we'll should see Brace get some play time. But WAY too premature to start using the bust label on a 2nd round pick.

Go Pats!
