Just saw that on ESPN: could you imagine a rotation of Beckett, Lester, Lackey, Dice-K. That would be awesome. But we still need a bat so hopefully we sign him and another hitter. Would be awesome if Sox make this happen though!

That now frees us up to include Bucholz in a trade for a hitter. Next move is we get A Gonzalez or M Cabrera, my money is on Gonzalez. Buch and Casey Kelly maybe another lower level propsect or two for Adrian Gonzalez, get a competent left fielder that can play D and hit a little and we have ourselves a team that can challenge the Yanks. :rocker::rocker:

Hear Lackey's press conference today. Mrs. Lackey is from Maine and a UNH graduate. He sounds bitter and he's beating his chest over the move. almost sounds like he's calling the Angels losers ... I could be wrong on that.

In any case ... mrs. Lackey ... thank you ... the chocolates are in the mail.

With Lackey signed now does this mean there will be no money in the kittie to resign Beckett.

I seem to remember someone in the organisation say a few years ago that sox fans should enjoy Beckett for the rest of his contract as he will be way too expensive to re hire.

Here are my thoughts on Lackey.....He still has good enough stuff to be effective and a good starter but I find myself saying WTF way to much at his pitch selection.....My possible solution is this....

Seeing as varitek is our backup catcher, a veteran and one of the best prepared catchers in the game....Why not use varitek as Lackey's personal catcher...Let them work together on the side sessions, get their gameplan together and try to execute it....Since lackey came to the sox last season we had V. Martinez catching and now Salty....Why not put our best game caller behind the plate and see if this makes a difference.....What do we have to lose at this point? Nothing and it may work out.....Come on Tito...

It worked last night with Beckett so maybe I am not so far off with thinking that varitek could do something with lackey....I know lackey's stuff isn't as good as beckett's but who knows....It's worth a shot..
