If it turns out that Moss is nursing a back injury...

I don't understand why we as fans are so quick to jump on the naysayers in the media who are just trying to create a story.

I watch every game and Moss has clearly been working his ass of for 3 years for us, thru record breaking years, thru Bradyless years, and thru a persumed back injury. The guy has had a tough month (one of the worst of his careers) and still is top 5 or 6 in WR categories, still commands a constant double team, and plays %90-%95 of the snaps.

You go out and get doubled for 95% of a game and see if some frustration doesn't show on your face.

Here is story that I noticed from last weeks game that may speak of Moss charector and importance to the team. After the TD pass to Moss Last week when Brady went to locker room after his tough hit Moss came to the sidelines and was looking for Brady with concern. When Brady came back from the Locker room he went rushing over to Moss to let him know he was OK. If Brady thought Moss had been dogging it you think he would run right to him he would probably go right to Welker instead.

So long as Brady considers Moss his favorite target than I will consider Moss to be working hard. When their relationship looks strained then maybe We can start wondering if anything is going wrong until than I will ignore the stories that the Media tries to create because I see no evidence that there is truth to it.

......it changes NOTHING!!
Tom Brady has a surgically repaired knee, 2 cracked ribs, a bad finger, a bad shoulder and has never jaked it on a single play.
Why are so many of you Patriot fans trying so hard to defend a lazy and soft player who's had a career long reputation of being a lazy and soft player?? Randy Moss has hall of fame talent yet is on his 3rd team in his NFL career and has never won jack.
He's showing you why that is.

Let's get a few things straight:

1. Randy Moss is a first ballot HOF'er
2. Randy Moss would start opposite Jerry Rice (who also played for 3 teams) on the ALL-TIME NFL Team.
3. Randy Moss caught the would-be game winner in SB 42. The fact that our defense got carved up by Goober Jr. in the most critical moment in no way affects his greatness.
4. He has been arguably the most important part of the two-highest scoring offenses in modern NFL history.
5. He is unbelievably talented, but if you think you can be as great as he is without working hard, I don't know what to tell you. You're just wrong.

Have you been waiting three years for this moment? I'm guessing you wanted him cut two years ago when he didn't play in a couple of preseason games too.

The lazy and soft reputation is a media creation - due in large part to the "I play when I want to play" comment being taken out of context. Some people buy it (the theory Moss is lazy) at face value - just like some fans of other teams buy the line that the only reason the Patriots have won any championships is due to videotaping.

give him an enema and move on

I am really getting tired of "oh,he must be injured" crap

EVERY PLAYER in the NFL is banged up by this point in the season,If this is the case then Moss needs to grab his nutsack and get out there and earn his millions - this is not a game for whining pansies who can't play because they are not 100% - --no one is 100% in week 14.
I guess that would make Fred Taylor, Sammie Morris, Sebastian Vollmer, Matt Light and Stephen Neal all huge pansies for missing some games then.

Why don't you grab some nutsack Bruce?

He is certainly lacking effort. If he was really that severely hurt he wouldnt be out there for 71 out of 75 plays, or whatever it was.

Really? Look at our third receiver (Or second, Welker's actually a slot, not a 2) . How do you think our pass offense would look without Moss commanding 2 and 3 defenders each play?

*lightbulb goes on*

Let's cut Moss and sign this Galloway guy. Word is he's really fast. :D

I'm sure we'll be fine with Aiken as our #1. Welker should go from 15 to zero catches most games too.

Well the last time I checked a slot receiver isnt any different than a wide reciever atleast in the stat sheets...

Our pass offense most certainly would suffer without Moss out there. I have even posted on this. Even with Moss not giving his full effort he still has to be given the respect and draw double and triple coverage which only makes his teammates better.

Shockingly enough, Moss could be hurt and getting defended by all 11 players on the other team, and it would still be possible that he wasn't giving 100% focus and effort. The same non-defense "defense" is happening on multiple threads now. How many people are covering Moss isn't determinative of whether or not Moss is going balls to the wall on every play, or every game.

Of course, anyone who's listened to the idea that sometimes Moss will deliberately go less than all out on some plays in order to fool his opponents already knows this.

Thanks, the perfect entree for my new sig.

The stats sheets? did you really say that?

“You know how I feel about stats,” Belichick said. “Stats are for losers. The final score is for winners.

A receiver that catches a lot of 5 yard passes and a receiver that gets double and triple coverage 40-50 yards down the field are quite different in their effect on the game and how the defense plays.

If you don't realize that, I give up.

Welker's an outstanding slot receiver, no doubt.

Talk about taking things way out of context...

I know what a slot receiver is. I am just saying that there is no difference in the way stats are kept for a slot WR and a wide receiver. Welker is the #2 receiver on this team. You were saying Welker isnt the real #2 receiever on this team and I was saying that you're wrong with that

If you have a #1 receiver, a #2 runs a lot of intermediate routes, like Gaffney did. Gaffney had the versatiltiy to probably play most receiver roles, but he was fairly tall and could legitimately be called a #2.

A slot receiver is really a safety valve who runs around in the short area trying to get open. He can run longer routes sometimes bur he is a slot receiver. A running back may have the second most catches on the team, but he's still a running back.

Let's say you misunderstood me and I misunderstood you OK? It has nothing to do with stats. I'm talking about roles on the football field.

Gaffney was our #2. Galloway was a different type of #2 than Gaffney, but was intended to be our #2 WR.

Troy Brown surprisingly went from a third down receiver to probably a slot (don't know) to a great #2 (Brown and Patten were so obscure, it's hard to say who was a #1, but Patten was the speed guy while Brown ran the #2 type routes).

Welker might lead the team in catches one year, flop the next, he's still a slot receiver unless they change his role as they did with Troy. Moss Might have the most catches or not, his role is still the #1 receiver because he runs those routes. I don't think people use terminology like flanker and split end so much anymore because players line up in different spots.

They still differentiate the role of a slot receiver though. I'm talking roles, not stats.

We have the same signature, I picked up my new one yesterday.. not that it makes any difference...

Without regard for that, have felt that Moss has looked tentative, may not be really hurt in the injury report kind of way..but recovering from back pain, avoiding the hit and not 'stretching out"....

I have sciatica, I'm sure a lot of people do. Some people have worse back problems. You don't recover from it. It get's better or worse, but it doesn't go away. You can get risky operations or you can just treat it and hope it subsides and doesn't flare up at a bad time.

He's the only player that makes plays for other players just by running down the field.

The whole thing is ridiculous. Axe murderers get faire treatment than Randy Moss. it's absurd. He's playing when he should be in a whirlpool because it helps the team. he's not saying anything, while AD is running his mouth. some of these moron writers need to get a life.

Could not agree more, Felger et al need to stop worrying about being the highest rated contrarian and spend more time at looking at a big picture...

Sciatica is a b... when I get it and walk close to a table, without bumping it, can sometimes feel the pain.. it can be pretty dabilitating...

Not sure that BB would continue to give him a vote of confidence if he was f..ing the dog out there..
