Wes welker IS the epitome of what a Patriot player should be. Whatever it takes to help the team...believe in the coach...if we don't win he is pissed....knock me down i'll get right back up and punch you in the mouth...fight until the finish. Kevin Faulk is another.....Maroney seems to be another.....name the rest. Then there are those that are just here to cash a paycheck and put their time in.

I just want to recognize Welker for everything he has done since coming here....to help this team compete....and show everyone WHAT A REAL PATRIOT is......

I thought he already was one two years ago and continues to prove every game why he belongs to the Troy Browns of the Patriot galaxy.:cool:

he isn't human

it's only a matter of time before he gets cut open to reveal his terminator like interior

Nice post, well said.

I love that BB frequently compares him to another all in slot receiver...highest praise.

Wes is the type of player you feel good about cheering for!

If anyone on that team deserves to be a captain it's Wes and I'm happy for him whenever he gets recognition... He doesn't rest on a reputation he earns his every day!

I agree that Wes is a Patriot but dare I sat even above that Wes Welker is a born football player!

Just wanted to be associated with a positive thread

And the announcer mentioned today that he has re-defined the slot receiver position. And that other teams are looking for their "Wes Welker". Good luck, not many cut from that mold.

I've been trying to decide which jersey I wanted to get to replace Bruschi. I have definately made up my mind. It's gonna be Welker's!

I have to give props to Bill for the post game hockey reference he made while talking about Welker. "He goes into the corner to get the puck too...he doesn't just score the goals"

He's the kind of guy every football player should be. He's tough...gritty...plays with heart. Like hockey players....or like they used to be.

I like how he put it:

" How do you get up after hits like that?

WW: I don’t know. You’re either going to stay down or get up, so might as well get on up."

:rocker:

Welker may not be a captain in name, but this was an example of leadership at its finest.

“It’s what it’s about - being a leader and really kind of stepping up,” he said. “You can’t be a guy that’s going to be ‘rah-rah’ and then go in the tank and not play up to par of what you want your teammates to do. You got to back that up.

Wes Welker delivers yet again - BostonHerald.com

He should be a Captain.

Every person that I have come into contact with that is a fan of another team has had all positive things to say about welker.....I have heard I hate Welker followed by that's because he is so good and you can't stop him or If I could get one player for my team it would be welker.....he is respected by everyone for his on the field play and his non-existent off the field crap that other players have.....I think if anyone is worth big money it is welker and he deserves to get paid when his contract is up......I honestly love watching him catch those 3 yd passes and make a couple guys lose there jocks more so than moss catching a 50 yd bomb.....Ok maybe not but he is so much fun to watch and a great team player and silent leader.....Glad he is on our team....

I agree he needs to be a Captain. I have a Moss jersey but I think what I really need is Welker's.

It's funny....the other day I was depressing myself scrolling through old threads from back when we signed AdT. I came across a Welker one that wondered if we could get out of the trade. LOL, good call.

If you think that's funny, here's one take from Football Outsiders on what might happen with Welker:

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Welker? I Hardly Know Her.

Even if you gave 20 percent of each of their targets to Welker, getting to 95 attempts -- a figure Troy Brown hasn't come close to since the pre-Deion Branch days -- would peg his 2006 production as his peak performance, not the precursor to it. It's not that Welker won't be valuable or a worthwhile use of a roster spot; instead, Welker has become, in a sense, a victim of his own success.

Welker is the Man. I hear he was spitting blood in the Huddle after the hit. And as we know catch, drilled, hesitate, jump up, pump the crowd up, back tot he huddle where he spits blood, next play 15 yards for a key first down on 3rd down, and follows that up with four more catches on the drive for a total of 64 yards on the drive.

No doubt that Gutsy drive from Welker changed the outcome of the game and hopefully we look back at it as the turning point of the season. Hopefully it is this years Bryan Cox moment.
