Faulk comes to defense of Moss

Are you trying to insinuate that was the wrong thing to do?

I didn't try to insinuate anything. You made a comment and I responded to it. The reality is that it was Thomas, not Moss, who took the brunt of the criticism this past week over being tardy, and that was both before AND after he had his interview. Burgess did an interview as well, but Moss declined. That's just the way it is, without any need for insinuation.

How do you feel bad for a guy who played like he played today?

Because he's been unrightfully dogged on by the media virtually his entire career.

He did not look motivated to play at all,

He never LOOKS motivated, he never LOOKS like he's running full speed. I don't care if you study psychology for your entire life, what he LOOKS like to you on the TV feed means absolute jack **** to the reality of the situation.

he didnt want to be on the field.

Well I'm glad you are a mind reader and know exactly what Moss wants. Thanks for calling Faulk a liar too because Kevin is trying to tell you that Moss LOVES football and has NEVER dogged it.

The usual conversations with Brady inbetween possessions were not there.

Except twice on the TV feed we saw Brady say what seemed like comforting words to him and give him a pat. Also there was a shot of them sitting side by side talking. But yeah, let's judge the TV feed and determine what level of motivation Moss had.

He did not run his routes hard and gave up on plays that he was not involved in

Glad you watched the coach's tape of every play and glad you paid so much attention to Moss' every move. Oh wait did you watch the TV feed?

, even Gamble said he could tell when the ball wasnt going to Moss by the way he got off the line of scrimmage.

Yea Gamble's word is worth more than Kevin Faulk's, good one. It's a damn shame that Gamble and the Panthers couldn't do a damn thing with the rest of our offense even when they KNEW Moss wasn't a threat. I'll bet that If Moss didn't play at all, our offense would have struggled a little bit more.

As a fan how can you cheer for a guy who gave an effort like he did today?

Because I don't fall into the trap of the media and their power to create personas for guys that do NOT make a habbit of talking to them. This is the same media that wants you to think that BB is an ego-driven self-righteous pompous a-hole that cares about no one but himself. I also think it's only natural that players will have bad days from time to time.

So you think Kevin Faulk is lying to cover up for his friend?

He isnt going to talk bad about a teammate, that would just cause problems in the locker room and be very unprofessional. Faulk is one of the most professional players in the game and will always have his teammates back no matter what and never say anything negative about someone

I didn't hear the media say negative things about AdT. The media spun it as a negative of BB when it came to AdT. Things written about Moss are usually about him packing it in, or dogging it, or quitting on his team etc...

You trully are ignorant, and I guess it really is true; ignorance is bliss. Find me one teammate of Moss, now or in the past that has said a negative thing about him. AdT's past teammate had a negative thing to say about him, but every teammate of Moss has always had glowing things to say about him.

Faulk basically told you how it is, and you refuse to believe it. So Faulk is lying because it doesn't follow what YOU want to believe. Classic, it's become the norm around here unfortunately

Ok, so you didn't listen to, or read, any media this week, then and are just tossing this out as a question, right?

Because the media was all over Thomas for this stuff, as thread after thread on this site illustrated.

Yea I leave myself little exposure to the local mediots these days, and don't give their worthless sites any hits. It seemed from quotes I read around here and some other stuff I've caught that the media was playing it as BB overreacting and losing his team, bad decision etc...

Faulk wouldn't have said anything then.....or made a general "team" comment. What he said was very telling. Faulk would not have been so specific if he did not beleive it.

Was he dogged on by the media in '07? He is not being dogged on by the media, they report and write what they see. They are not homer's like yourself standing up for your favorite player.

He never LOOKS motivated, he never LOOKS like he's running full speed. I don't care if you study psychology for your entire life, what he LOOKS like to you on the TV feed means absolute jack **** to the reality of the situation.

Does the Randy Moss that you have been watching on the field the past few weeks look motivated to you? You dont have to study pyschology to see this. On Bradys INT did he make that hard cut to the sideline like he usually does? Last week did he make any effort to try and prevent the defender from intercepting the ball in the end zone? It seems like lately Moss has shyed away from contact, hense the reason for the fumble and the drop today.

Except twice on the TV feed we saw Brady say what seemed like comforting words to him and give him a pat. Also there was a shot of them sitting side by side talking. But yeah, let's judge the TV feed and determine what level of motivation Moss had.

Brady even mentioned in his press conference that he was trying to cheer Moss up and keep him motivated. He sees that he is down and frustrated and he is trying cheer him up. The old Moss would be next to Welker and Brady on the bench talking and pumping eachother up for the next drive.

I think Gamble's word is worth more than Faulk's he was the one covering him the whole game. He can tell whether Moss gave his full effort or not. He can tell just how hard Moss made his cuts and got off the ball. I will say that Moss' presence does make the team better especially Wes Welker. He takes 2 or 3 defenders out of the picture and leave guys like Welker to get the one on one coverage.

Bad day from time to time is one thing. Hes had 11 receptions in his last 4 games. That isnt exactly Moss like numbers. You have to be blind to not see that Moss is frustrated and not giving his best effort out there.

Moss was dogged in the media in '07.....that just faded because no one was buying into it after his incredible, record breaking performance. Even the incident with his "girlfreind" didnlt last long - no matter how much Felger wanted it to.

“When he said he plays when he wants to play, it had all kinds of bad implications.”
—Former teammate Todd Steussie

There you go, a teammate of Moss saying something negative about him.

Moss is a great player and has unbelievable amounts of talent, but the thing is he only uses this talent when he wants to. He hasnt been getting the ball as much as he would have liked lately, which is causing him to get frustrated and not play to his full potential. I am a Randy Moss fan, but I am just seeing it how it is. He is not giving 100% effort on the field, and it doesnt take a genious to see that.

Was he dogged on by the media in '07? He is not being dogged on by the media, they report and write what they see. They are not homer's like yourself standing up for your favorite player.

He's not my favorite player, and the media are idiots. They don't report on what they see, they assume and write their dumb opinions as facts.

Moss doesn't ever LOOK motivated to me, not now and not during games where he's getting 100+ yards. He's just not a very animated guy, period.

"shyed away from contact". LOL. First he has NEVER been a physical receiver and I dont' consider putting his shoulder into a defender after an overthrown ball as shying away from contact.

Brady even mentioned in his press conference that he was trying to cheer Moss up and keep him motivated. He sees that he is down and frustrated and he is trying cheer him up. The old Moss would be next to Welker and Brady on the bench talking and pumping eachother up for the next drive.

There is NO old and new Moss. Moss is, and always has been Moss and he's an emotional guy. That doesn't mean he wasn't TRYING. Maybe his focus wasn't where it needed to be, but he's not the only one especially this season.

 Yea Gamble's team didn't just lose 20-10. Gamble is a smart guy who is used to covering Moss and knows Moss' tendencies. You sound very foolish right now.

Bad day from time to time is one thing. Hes had 11 receptions in his last 4 games. That isnt exactly Moss like numbers. You have to be blind to not see that Moss is frustrated and not giving his best effort out there.

He entered the game #2 in the entire NFL in receiving yards. He has 2 TDs in those 11 receptions and a 16.6 YPC in those 11 receptions. To expect monster games from him every single week is unreasonable. It's also not like the ENTIRE offense has not been struggling. Brady has also missed a few throws. The OL hasn't been blocking well and most of Moss' routes take longer to develop.

I take issue with the fact that you and others believe he isn't trying or is mailing it in etc... Maybe his focus wasn't sharp and wasn't on his A game today, but that is NOT the same as mailing it in or dogging it. Everyone has those days, but it gets blown out of proportion when it happens to Moss.

There you go, a teammate of Moss saying something negative about him.

What the hell planet do you live on? That is a simple fact, that overplayed quote about Moss playing when he wants to (which has ALWAYS been taken way out of context) had bad IMPLICATIONS. And the media ran with it, and you have bought it or are just being really stubborn and pretending to believe it.

Funny that's the best you could find (which is not negative of Moss), yet still believe the nonsense you spout.

You've lost all credibility going back with this ridiculous out of context play when he wants to crap. Part of his talent is his smarts, he's not all run straight go up and grab a ball. He's a very smart football player. His on field demeanor doesn't change whether he's burning defenders for long TDs or struggling to get a reception.

You lose all credibility with this opening remark. Yes, he was incredibly dogged by the media in 07. The whole "Suprise Cut" story on final cutdown day, the thing with that woman, Jaworski claiming Moss was "dogging it" in a season where he broke the TD record.

You don't want to like Moss. You most likely grudginly cheered for him in 07, and wanted him off the team when he was accused of "dogging it" last year, and now you're buying into the hoopla again.

I think Moss, much like our head coach, has a bad reputation because of his disdain for the media. That fuels the fans, and you start getting people like yourself who judge him even though they know nothing about him and have no frame of reference because of how little Moss has revealed his true self.

I am also amazed by how little people learned after Spygate and Liegate. Just because someone writes it on a website or in a newspaper does NOT make it factual. It boggles the mind. If you want to continue to believe the Felger's, Borges', and ESPN types; I truly feel sorry for you. I, personally, will instead believe the actions and words of Tom Brady, Kevil Faulk, and Bill Belichick. When THEY say Randy Moss is dogging it, then I will believe it.

He has been afraid of contact his whole career, even in 07 he would be hesitent to go over the middle and whenever he would make a catch over the middle he would usually just go down. Today on his drop ball he saw the defender coming and dropped the ball. Whether its afraid of contact or not focusing, he want there today

There is NO old and new Moss. Moss is, and always has been Moss and he's an emotional guy. That doesn't mean he wasn't TRYING. Maybe his focus wasn't where it needed to be, but he's not the only one especially this season.

You cannot deny that his lacking of running crisp routes like he usually does or making the tough catches was not because of a lack of effort. His focus has not been where it has needed to be the past 2 weeks. I think everyone else on the offensive has given it there all all season long. What player hasnt?

 Yea Gamble's team didn't just lose 20-10. Gamble is a smart guy who is used to covering Moss and knows Moss' tendencies. You sound very foolish right now.

Not sure what you're trying to say with this? Gamble covered Moss he saw what was happening, he would know better than anyone else.

No one said that we're expecting monster games every week. Yes the entire offense has been struggling as a whole, and when you are such a superstar like Moss is and he isnt producing he is going to take some criticism. Its part of sports. Last week he couldnt block on a few running plays, this week he cant make sharp and aggressive cuts. This doesnt take any skills at all, its just showing passion and playing hard. I didnt mention the drop pass or the fumble.

Everyone has bad days, but not days where they lack effort. If Moss fumbled and dropped a pass people and the media wouldnt be on him, but when he doesnt run his routes hard and his body language seems down then the media has a right to be all over him. Everyone else on the offensive has maintained their focus every week, there is no excuse for him not to be focused. Tom Brady just had a baby this week and he was focused and was focused last week as well. There is a difference between lack of production and a lack of effort, that is when you get the media on you

#2 in yards 3 in TD and # 11 in Rec...yeah he is the reason why we lost 5 games this year and is an issue we need to address
And as to the knew he was going to quit argument...then why keep guarding him? why not triple Welker or cover oh I dont know Ben Watson or hows about not give up 185 on the ground. Our d played well against a bad offensive team and we won. Are we actually shocked about this?? Our offensive players are not the issue. Play calling and sound defense are the problem. Look for a change at both of these in the off season. ADT I loved him but god he needs to just nut up and shut up...that is all

I am a big Randy Moss fan, but I am going to be on him when I see that he is not giving the effort that he is capable of giving. He has a bad repuation because of his past and only playing hard when he wants to. He changed that in his 1st 2 years here but I think its hard to ignore the fact tha the is going back to his old ways. I think he can easily get past this and get back to the Randy Moss we have seen in the past 2 years.

Tom Brady, Kevin Faulk or BB will never say that their teammate is dogging it. They are all professionals and would never say anything bad about a teammate or one of their players. I feel sorry for you that you believe that one of them would ever say something like that.

I want to hear your side, what has been up with Moss the past few weeks? 3 catches in 2 games? That isnt the normal Randy Moss

I dont understand why you have so much hate for the media? They are around the team the most out of anyone, including me or yourself. They report on what they see. They are in the locker room everyday, they are at practice. They see so much more than the average fan. They get paid to report what they see.

That quote was in a simple google search, and it most certainly negative. Moss said that he only plays when he wants to and the player is saying that is negative.

His demeanor has changed. His body language has definitely changed. It all started in the NO game in my opinion. Since then he just has seemed very frustrated and when hes frustrated he usually doesnt give 100%, hense why his numbers have been down in his past 4 games.

No, they will never say that. But if a teammate is really not giving effort, something will happen teamwise (AD getting the healthy inactive agaisnt the Titans, for example). If Brady thought he wasn't doing poorly and just wasn't in the game, he wouldn't have been encouraging him on the sidelines, he would have been yelling at him a la Joey Galloway.

I think he is still hurt. I know, it's not on the injury report blah blah. Back injuries don't magically disappear. What he needs is time off...I am hoping the Houston game ends up being worthless and he can take it off.
