Rookie mistake, or lack of effort?

On the big hit on Brady, Volmer had help and successfully blocked the rusher. Brady still couldnt find anyone. Volmer then stopped altogether and let the rusher run straight at Brady and get a clean hit. Ouch. Not something you should ever be doing... but especially when your QB is injured already and playing with a cracked finger, hurt shoulder, and hurt ribs.

What happened on that play? I'm thinking Volmer probably thought the play was already over and he stopped trying

What "big sack" of Brady? He wasn't sacked all day.

I know the play you're talking about, but it wasn't a sack. Vollmer and Baker took care of Peppers for a good 5 seconds before Brady rolled out of the pocket and Vollmer let him go.

Ahh yea my mistake...Brady got the throw off right before the hit... But you know what im talking about

It was just the mistake of thinking the ball was out of his hands. It won't happen again. Vollmer played fine, he is the least of our many problems.

Yeah, it wasn't a sack. Brady had a good 5-10 seconds running around. To me it looked like a rookie mistake more than anything else; I think it's safe to say Vollmer thought he would have already released the ball.

Calling it a lack of effort is kind of dumb.

RUBBISH
Brady had all day to dump off that pass
Seabass is God

The offense starting moving when Vollmer replaced Kaczur at right tackle. I hope it stays like that the rest of the year. All the pressure Brady was getting was from Kaczur's right tackle position.

It's not really Vollmer's fault. Brady had about 9-10seconds to throw, but there was nobody open. He held the ball way too long. He should have just run with the ball on the left-sideline.

Don't expect the OL to hold the defense, forever.

PS - if Kazcur is hurt, Vollmer is playing next week.

Vollmer had help from 2 different players, but he still couldn't hold up against Peppers. On the other hand, it was a play that also featured Brady holding the ball for what seemed to be an eternity. I made the comment about it in the game thread, but it was more of a dig against the "Vollmer is God" mentality that seems to have taken over here than it was a real knock on Vollmer.

Vollmer is playing fine for a rookie,m even if he's not the monster that people are trying to claim he is already. Let's hope that continues to play well enough to help the team, expecially if Kaczur can't play next week.

Compare his play in year one against Kaczur
He is God...for a rookie
The best pick of 2009 by far
The only guy left to keep Brady alive

I'm not saying his a god but he play was much better than Kaczur's.

Vollmer didn't have a great game today, but it was his first game back and his first reps on the right side for a while. I will give him a little leeway like I did with Light his first couple of weeks back and Light had a great game vs. Peppers today.

No, it wasn't. This is exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about, actually.

Did you notice how Brady had some time to throw after he came in? While Kaczur was in there Brady was getting pressure on just about every throw attempt.

At the start of the game, the team was going with a 3-man rotation at the two tackle positions, with Vollmer playing both sides. Where was all that time then, even as Vollmer was getting help from Baker & Co.?

Oh, right, it wasn't there.

I actually am going to have to agree with Deus on this subject. Vollmer struggled today and I though Kazur played better than Vollmer today. I think it being Vollmer's first playing time in awhile had something to do with it, but today Kazur played better than Vollmer

Translation: I've been drinking since 11:00am, and I am quite smashed. I covered one eye at some point during the game, and it looked kinda good. Lotsa movement. Over there, left (right) side... something.... and they.... uh.... YEAAAH!!!! whaddaya mean, FUMBLE????

Very eloquent response
Was that in english?
Nevermind

It IS Vollmers fault.

It's one thing if he were blocking and just got beat after 10 seconds...

But what happened was he got help and stone walled the rusher, then completely gave up on the play and let the rusher run right past him and put Brady into the ground. He didnt get beat, he literally just stood there and let Peppers run by him.

Ofcourse you think it's no big deal because Brady got right back up... but a clean hit like that couldve put Brady out for the season considering his ribs are already injured.. What would you be saying then?

That was an awesome, veteran play by Peppers. On the play, his blockers are blind. They can only read Peppers and go off of their internal clock. Around the time Peppers quit on the play most tackles would be thinking about how long a play it is. Peppers stops fighting, tackle assumes play is over and Peppers wins.

Just another example of how pass rushing is a heady piece of the game.
