they need his leadership on the field more than anything. the young kids are panicking out there when they see good QBs.

Re: Seau....

I'd guess yes. He said he was good for about 6 games or so, and it's about that time. I could see him taking some time away from Guyton, who's more of a speed guy, and may not be as effective against Carolina's RB tandem.

Seau played 18 snaps against the Dolphins last week. Was pretty good too, from what I saw on film. Insticts and mobility were still there.

People talk about the lack of veteran leadership in the lockeroom and forget we still have Junior Seau.

The Patriots also have Tom Brady in the lockerroom.

Not sure if you have ever been in a locker room, but it is nearly impossible for a non starter to be a leader, especially in the huddle.

they need someone on the DEFENSIVE side of the ball though doing what Tom does with the offense. When guys like Peyton and Brees are lighting the secondary up, the kids will start to panick. Junior is a guy that will calm them down. The patriots just lack the mental toughness right now that helped make us a dynasty.

I hope you aren't including Chad Henne in that list. The only good QB's that they've seen are Manning, Brees, and maybe Matt Ryan

Dont kid yourself into thinking a 2nd year QB from Michigan isnt capable of being a good NFL QB. The man started there for 4 years in a 100K seat stadium, and played in some bigtime games. He's a good QB.

I was very surprised Sunday that Seau on more than few occaisons was totally fooled out there. I know he's lost a step or so but that mind was generally sharp. He played very subdued and he bit on all the misdirection that the OL was using out there. He was always good at taking an extra time click before committing and diagnosing the play. Now he's trying to make up for his lack of quickness by guessing and committing off the sanp - and it is not working very well.

Other than locker room leadership ... if it's there ??? I found his presence was totally lacking on the field and on the sideline. I guess he has backup value but he's a ghost of himself at this point IMO. Perhaps he's saving himself ... I sure hope so because behind Mayo we have nothing.

You talking about that kid Brady? He didn't start all 4 years.. slow, bad out of the pocket... so-so. Too early see how that kid will turn out.

Think that is a little bit harsh. I thought he's looked pretty decent out there, especially against Miami. He certainly isn't what he once was, but it's not like he was out of place time and time again, he seemed to be around the ball a lot on Sunday.

Let's be serious!

I'd much rather have Thomas playing ILB and Seau be inactive.

Sorry to who might be offended, but I agree with MG here, whether he's being facetious or not (I assume not).

I like Guyton a lot, but AD is a very talented LB and he's probably been best for the pats at ILB. We'd certainly notice him more often. Especially if we're missing run stopping at DT this week...

I am certainly not being facetious. Our best 53 includes Thomas, Mayo and Guyton as our ILB rotation.

I was really hopefull he would have something to offer. But comparing last year to this year is not even close. He doesn't even look like the same chest thumping very animated guy. He spends warmups with a red hat on while the rest of the team has a helmet on. him and Bill are close and I am sure he is valuable somehow ... but it's not on the field ... at least not yet anyways.
