The real problem for this team is...

the fact that the last truly good value the pats acquired at LB was mike vrabel in 2001. since then, its been a carousel of guys who have either not been good value or have just not been good. right now we have mayo and guyton as the the only ones for whom the jury is still out, but it has been a long time.

I don't recall if the pats signed phifer before they signed vrabel and am not going to bother to look it up, but he and vrabel were the only ones who weren't already here. you could throw byan cox in that pile, too. but since then, its been a real drought.

maybe if its impossible to find the exact type to fit your scheme, maybe its time to change the scheme

We very, very easily could have had Clay Matthews or a Rey Maualuga (Both guys making solid impacts in their respective defenses) and BB chose to work his stupid deal downs instead of staying put and grabbing the impact player that you may have to pay a little bit more money too. That strategy bites, stay put or deal up, get players that can make an effin difference !

It's time for BB to step out of the effin draft room and turn things over to someone more qualified in the college evaluation department. Stick to coaching BB, your FA signings/trades and drafts are beyond questionable.

I can appreciate that the Pats haven't had a lot of luck at linebacker, but the Pats aren't the only contender with that problem. It's one of the problems, not THE problem.

Agreed. The number of other teams who have found "good value" at LB is not very big.

I agree with this 100%. The draft is not the place to find linebackers

I did believe for quite some time the.......He's not big enough, not fast enough and my favorite, he's not smart enough crap. After watching other teams take LB's who have played great I now call BS. Draft some effin LB's and stop thinking that your system is to complicated for these young Grads.

This is by far my biggest complaint when it comes to the Patriots and Belichick. I mean the man grew up with LB's and coached some of the best to ever play the game. Yet he does not seem to be concerned at all that he can't find one to save his life.

To those who will pipe in and say "ya but injuries" to that I go back to the snowstorm and AD, enough with the excuses.

You realize the teams starting LT, LG, RB, TE, NT, DE, ILB, OLB, SS, and K all blow your theory right out of the water, right?

Oh, and the starting QB is pretty good, too.

Were we or were we not all just raving about this draft class? Next year I believe is gonna be the draft that decides whether we will continue to be the hated Patriots or the gosh darned luvable Pats. I believe under Bills iron pimp hand we will be the latter. And before any of you revisionists pine for some Tuna remember Hoodie had success and stuck with the Pats. And hes still sticking with us we should do the same for him. the problem with this team is that it has an incomplete defense. They have talent at the Safety, ILB, dline and RCB position, but without a legit pass rush all those other areas are held back. Getting a competent offensive coordinator wouldn't hurt either

roddy harrison and ted washington both old player again they got lucky that they still had something left

the only big FA signing by the pats where AD and rosie colvin AD is not geting is donn for what ever reason it maybe and colvin was a good LB for the pats but never had the same year for the pats like he did for the bears


and as we know they never drafted a OLB in the first round


but the fact is the pats only sign jags and over the hill player and have missed on more then they have hit on

and now that the core of the D is gone they can't get away with it


we all seen how a good pass rush can make a avrage D like denver look good and make a bad D like the colts good a nuff to be 12 -0


and Clay Matthews and he's 7 sacks would have been a big help chung can't cover any one and it dose not say much about brace that when wilfork was pretty much the only DL man that was not hurt he still could not get on the field

so i dont see what they got by tradeing out of the frist round

Right because since he took over a nightmare of a roster in January 2000, we have only been the most successful franchise in the NFL for a decade. Amazing feat when all of his personnel decisions are beyond questionable.

You discredit the SB wins because 2 starters (McG,Bruschi) played in 3, 1 (Law) in 2 and 1 reserve LB were on the team when he arrived.
