I'd just add one thing: On Monday, Belichick talked to the team about showing more commitment. Said they needed to arrive early. Stay late. Don't be running out of the building. When this happened two days later, I think it adds important context to Belichick's decision.

ya, this is a significant piece of information that eliminates the small amount of sympathy I had for these 4. AD must really be a lost cause at this point if he is going to the media about this. Otherwise, someone like Seau would have told him to STFU and just show up the next day.

Very significant.. I have no sympathy either, they should have been ontime. I left 2 hours early for work yesterday, why couldn't those 4?

personally i think they should go back to the 3-4 and use him at ILB... but aside from that the fact that the 4 were late just shows you they're not doing extra time before hand or coming in early before required meetings. doesn't appear to be above and beyond.

I was held accountable to be on time for practice when I was playing PEEWEE hockey.. They had me and every other kid teamed up, so if I our my partner was late or did something wrong, we both were punished. BB should partner Thomas up with Mayo or something. It'll teach Mayo to start *****ing people out when they deserve it.

After reading this chat, I thought it was more noteworthy that Reiss called out McGowan and Meriweather for their behavior after the game:

"From my experience, the locker room after a game like that is usually a place that is quiet and players are wearing their hearts on their sleeve. Brandon Meriweather and Brandon McGowan were the players who I noticed that didn't seem to be showing that devastation."

Before, I still couldn't understand why guys who make the money they do to play football can't account for inclement weather to be to work on time like the rest of us working stiffs. This piece of info. makes me scratch my head even more. I'm sure each one has a different excuse, but jeez even after the coach gave them the talk 2 days before. No wonder there is no veteran leadership on and off the field anymore. If I was Tom Brady, I'd be pissed at Moss for this.

After reading hundreds of posts, I finally agree with Thomas. This is kindergarden stuff. Belichick is trying to prove his authority by punishing folks for not being at practice on a Wednesday. In the past, many veterans didn't bother showing up on Wednesday.

The bottom line is that we don't know what is going on in the locker room. Our perception now seems to be that we have talent, but the problem is attitude.

Two days ago, over 60% of the posters here thought that the problem was coaching, including playcalling.

Others have thought that the problem is that Belichick hasn't brought in wuality passrushers.

Others think we are on the way to 10-6 or 11-5, right on track to what we should have expected with 20 new players and the obvious rebuilding year.

I'm sure we all understand that if Thomas left the edge and rushed the passer, he would NOT be doing his job. But again this doesn't matter.

I don't believe anyone knows what is going on in the locker room. You can chalk up these losses to (1) coaching, (2) players not playing with passion, (3) execution or (4) simply not having the talent necessary to win games. As the answer may reasonably be (1), (2), (3), (4), or any combination of the four, everyone here is simply guessing at what this means.

Is Thomas's issue with Belichick personal and based on his conduct? There was speculation in the media they clashed over player rep. issues. Retribution over actions in that role would be plain dumb for Belichick given the immediate sanctions for interference or retribution. Does Thomas have a bad attitude? His public commentary is not exactly making him look intelligent right now. Is his play the result of Belichick's clever plan to make him look worse than he actually is? If he looks bad, so does Belichick, so that would be a self-inflicted wound if that were the game.

If anything is clear about Belichick, he doesn't pander to the press. I strongly doubt any of these actions are along the lines of finding a scapegoat to serve up to the media to explain losses as I strongly doubt the media will accept the proposition that one player causes teams to lose. If you have been following the press, there are plenty articles about how Belichick has lost his greatness, either directly or implicitly, so Thomas really won't address those claims if Belichick cared at all. At best Thomas is a sacrificial lamb to motivate the remaining players, but sending Thomas home for a day really doesn't carry much weight in that regard considering the fact he was deactivated for a game. If that were the end game, cut him for the sake of this season and eat his salary if he will not toe the line and embrace the Patriot way.

It may be Thomas has an attitude problem, and the guys telling him to pipe down, specifically Bruschi, Harrison and Vrabel, are not there to shut him up this year. Is that definitely the answer? Who knows. The facts are not public. However, if Thomas keeps spouting the nonsense and fighting the head coach in the media, he will continue to sound like a clueless prima donna who needs the attitude adjustment and has not recently shown he is a top-tier LB who can make those comments with impunity.

We all thought is was coaching until they did this. It's not about doing some kindergarten thing like sending a player home. It's to show the BB is serious about getting this team back on track. The team certainly hasn't earned any slack. If I was making millions of dollars I would listen not be talking to the media about it.

I cannot believe that you are blaming BB for Thomas' lack of production. He is being paid hansomely to be a gamechanger defensively. Hes POed about the way he is being used- fine. Maybe BB thinks he doesnt have the burst anymore? Maybe BB is trying to light a fire under this guy? Maybe he is a lazy SOB. Thomas has no pride and is protecting his bruised ego.
