apparently the locker room has been a bit too jovial after losses. i remember reading in the past that Mcginest would scream at the rookies to stop horsing aroundand go and watch film.I guess they are missing that on defense.

I think somewhere between laughing in the locker room and throwing things lay the appropriate reaction to a sports loss.

Breer is excellent.

In fact this is the best I can remember the Patriots' coverage in a LONG time with Reiss, Curren and Breer all here now. Plus I like Rapoport a lot. In fact, it's by far the best group I've seen since 1994 or so, when I started following the Patriots.

I agree with all the all guys but not Breer, he seems like hes full of himself

well.....maybe if wilfork didn't have to be concerned with an extension, he could take care of some of that business, but the part of the problem comes full circle. in a situation like with the pats where the FO breeds this mentality that everyone is expendable, it reduces the number of personalities who will do what some would do if the front office led by example in terms of loyalty. the bottom line is that the guys who took less to play with the pats are gone. and one who did (vrabel) was jettisoned like a flat football. so why should a player put himself out there and bleed the color if there are no longer any examples of that remaining on the team? who is 'taking one for the team' right now? they kept brady happy by loading up stat boys around him, but the let the defense go to crap.

in my belief, the organization has no right to expect anything other than what they have right now. they made the situation, and just like at the top with BB, this team is now loaded with ego.

The PFW in Progress guys said the same thing, they where shocked by the defensive backs joking around and laughing in the locker room after the Miami game. someone wrote in and made a good point, Pats may have brought in too many okay players from crappy teams who don't view losing as that big a deal because they did so much of it in the past. everyone likes to say "it's good to come here and win" but the flip side is when the team does lose it seems normal for those guys.

I tend to agree with The Dynasty that Breer is full of himself....BUT on teh other hand, he was really great before he left..and THAT was what BB was talking about... I do think he changed a great deal after he left..He WAS way full of himself and for me, it was like he was around and playing big man on Campus comes home. Frankly, that Breer I could do without TOTALLY!! NOW that he's back with the Globe, we'll see if he returns to more how he was when here before or if the big headed know it all writer is the one seen now. I thought he was great before, but changed and not for the best. I am hoping that it's more of the past as far as his attitude goes. The new version has been a real disappointment..and so far..it's been OK..not great...but better than a year ago.

I've never been hesitant to criticize sports journalists but I don't get the full of himself vibe that some of you detect in Breer. Guy is reporting what happened and reports the reactions of past Pats players. Am I happy with a few players' reactions to 2 losses in a row, one rout and another loss to a division rival in the title race? No. But Breer's coverage of player reactions is news.

That probably disturbs me more than anything - the BM's have been a bright spot this season; we need them, especially meriweather, to step up and lead this defense. They are playing well enough for the rest of the D, and especially the secondary to follow their example. It's not enough for them to just play well.

I like Meriweather's swagger on the field, I think that's something the defense needs, but if he's going to assume that role on the field, he needs to accept similar responsibilities off the field, and keep the defense motivated and focused, especially after a tough loss

I thought something wasn't right when I saw either Merriweather or Butler laughing and joking with Peyton Manning after that loss the Colts on Sunday night. You'd think they'd be a little PO'd after giving up that big lead.

This doesn't really surprise me, actually. Meriweather is and has always been relatively immature. I think as he gains experience in the league he'll eventually develop into a more serious character, but he's one guy who I think could really benefit from a mentor like Rodney.
