Will gladly take one of Peppers/Merriman.

Wishlist (UFAs only):
Dunta Robinson
Richard Seymour
Chad Clifton
Julius Peppers
Karlos Dansby

Would be pretty pumped if we could get any of those guys for a reasonable price.

Peppers would be my pick easily, but a combo of Mayo and Dansby would be sweet.

Dansby is my Patriot-in-waiting..... Would love to add him to this team!

I honestly dont see any shot that we can AFFORD any of these players

What about Aaron Kampman? Meant to be as proffesional as they come and a "complete" veteran player, almost nailed on Patriot attributes. Still trying to find his groove in the 3-4 but hasn't looked bad by any means...

This is ofcourse, assuming these guys slip onto the market.

#1 is re-signing Wilfork.

Yes we would be. It is an up capped year and we will be able to have a lot of flexibility in free agency. As afar as the these free agents he is suggesting.

Dunta Robinson: Robinson had 6 interceptions in his rookie season, back in 2004. He's had just 7 interceptions in 50 games since then. I understand he has missed a few games this season and played in only 9 games last season, but in 2005 and 2006 he was fully healthy and managed only 3 interceptions in the 32 games over those two seasons. He has also seen his numbers decline in the following categories: sacks, forced fumbles, tackles, and passes defended. Face it, he isn't the big play DB that he looked like he was going to become during his rookie season. In fact, if you look at his numbers, he's really no better than Deltha O'Neal. So no, he isn't anything more than a decent CB, and therefore wouldn't be my first choice to help improve this secondary. I would rather a guy like Dawan Landry. . He played only 2 games this year due to injury, but he is another solid young defensive player. Like McFadden, he plays on a fantastic NFL defense, and has also proven to be a bit of a ball hawk. So, I would go after these guys this offseason. Other than that, I think we will improve the secondary through the draft.

Richard Seymour: After being traded by the Pats to the Raiders, I don't him wanting to come back to the Patriots. This defense needs a younger verison of more of an explosive pass rusher like an Elvis Dumbervil who I would I would go nuts if we got him. I think we could to.

Chad Clifton: I think he would be a good addition at the right price, however I think we need to get younger at LT and with Clifton at 33 and injury prone, I wouldn't really like the signing unless he were to sign for cheap. I would pass here.

Julius Peppers: I'm not attracting by this option at all. He is going to be turning 30 later this month and will be looking for a long term deal at max dollars. His numbers have already been dropping and I expect to that throughout the remainder of his career. I would rather go with an Elvis Dumbervil or Casey Hampton who could plug up the middle with Wilfork. We could address threw the draft if this is the only option out there.

Karlos Dansby: He is really not a pass rusher which is what we need right now. He has only 1.0 sack on the season and would command a big deal. Im not intrested in him. I would rather a guy like Rocky Mcintosh or Gary Brackett, two very good guys who are playmakers and Brackett is a bit of a ball hawk. Those guys attract me more then Dansby does.

He is coming off a torn ACL and he may not be ready for next season and could be placed on the PUP list. If he wants to sign for cheap why not? I expect to be looking for more then BB and company would be intrested in signing for someone coming off a major knee injury.

Not Merriman. The guy has been a non-factor since he got off the juice.

You need some time to recover from a serious injury like that and get the demons out of your mind. It took Brady quite a while to find his form, and I think Merriman will eventually return to close to what he once was.

Have you watched him this year? He has been incredibly ineffective, and signing a guy to a max deal someone who is coming a serious knee injury and someone who could have been majorly boosted by steriods isn't a good idea at all. I don't want to see him here.

Yes I have seen him play a few times and I agree he has not looked himself so far. However, I believe you give him a full offseason to work out, get stronger, and train hard and he will be at least close to what he once was.

You also have to take into account he's been dealing with a foot injury since about week 4, which has been diagnosed as plantar fasciitis. That is a pretty painful injury to play through, and it often saps your burst and explosiveness. He's a tough guy so it's gotta be a pretty severe case to keep him off the field.

Just the presence of Merriman this year has made that defense much better this year. They more or less have the same personnel as they did last year, have lost their NT to a season ending injury, and had Olshansky leave. Without Merriman last year, SD ranked 24th in YPG on defense. This year they rank 12th. Last year they were 31st against the pass, this year they are 8th against the pass.

He's not putting up the huge sack totals like he did a few years ago, but having him on one side with Phillips on the other side is a nightmare for opposing offenses. He's not back to himself yet, but I'm pretty confident he will get there. He's too talented not to.

Give me Karlos Dansby and I'd be drooling.

I hadnt heard this about him. I'm not saying its false, but i don't see how thats keeping him off the field. I've got a severe case of Plantar Fasciitis in both my feet right now. I'm a drummer, and its painful, but doesnt keep me from playing at a high level. I just can't see how thats keeping him from playing at a high level. Then again, i'm not a doctor :D

we are looking at the worng list we need to look at the list of FA over 40 lol :D

Why on earth will Arizona and San Diego not try and re-sign these guys - get real, its likely they will stay where they are one way or another
