Who do you think has been the biggest bust for the Patriots in either trade or FA pick up in the Belichick Era , hands down would have to be Adalius Thomas...

Joey Galloway has to be a consideration.

in terms of difference between expectation and reality, duane starks.....hands down

For the $$ he is getting... It's Thomas and it's not even close at all. He is terrible.

Not sure he is terrible, but is certainly not very good value for the money...

thomas has at least made some plays.......when starks was out there, the pats were literally playing with 10 players. he was worse than horrible

Why is Chris Baker on this list?

Why is Chris Baker on this list?

Because he has completely disappeared since his TD catch against the Falcons some 11 weeks ago?

For this year, I would have to put my money on Burgess, even though Galloway contributed less. They needed Burgess as part of this team more, as a veteran leader and pass rush presence, and so far he has been a complete bust. Galloway would have been nice to have and would have and would have taken pressure off Moss, Welker, and "the rest," but this passing offense can still operate without them. This passing defense needed Burgess to deliver. The thing is, I remember being at Gillette the night of the in-stadium STH practice in August. As I was going in, I got a tweet about the Pats trading for a "veteran defensive player," which then turned into "The Pats have acquired Derrick Burgess." How excited we were!

Overall though, Thomas takes the cake. He was supposed to come in here and be the next in line behind Vrabel, McGinest, Bruschi, etc. and has seen his production drop off from Year 1 to Year 2 and now to Year 3, where he has been virtually invisible before and especially after his benching. To make matters worse, he seems to be turning into a bit of a locker room malcontent. He'll be one of the first to go come February. Hopefully the Pats can get something for him, and hopefully they'll be able to absorb the cap impact.

Hopefully Burgess will be the second to go in February. Then Springs.

So? He played 43 snaps against the Dolphins, while Watson played 46 snaps. Clearly production from both TE's is down, and one would guess it's because they're being kept in to block.

And even so, Baker isn't even in the same ballpark as some of these other guys. Sorry.

I agree, but he's not performing up to expectations.

Considering what we gave up for him, and the high expectations, I would have to say Burgess. I hardly ever hear his name called for making a tackle.

Well, fine. But you'd have to be crazy to vote for him next to some of the other names on the list.

As for me, I'd probably say Burgess or Galloway for this season.

Yep. It's all about the $$ and investment.

Others have been worse but the hit wasn't so drastic.

Burgess gets my vote, I was excited when this trade went down and I hoped he would replace the loss of Vrabel.

Thomas isn't as bad as burgess, but he gets paid more and the expectations were higher, so it's him

Burgess gets stoned by the tackle pretty much every play, anything he had is gone.

Galloway was a 38 year old wideout, his bust rate really would be pretty high.

Who's expectations has Baker not lived up to? The Fans expectations, which tend to be extremely unrealistic, or Bill Belichick's? One of the things that I have noticed is that Baker has had to pull a LOT more blocking assignments lately than he did earlier in the year. Same with Watson.

Also, Baker's deal was a 2+3 deal. Not a true 5 year deal.

Contractual.

At least most of those players were on the field. Donald Hayes was such a bust that he hardly ever lined up.
