Ian's Daily Blog - One of the things being discussed this Monday morning is the fact that this Patriots team doesn’t seem to have the fire or killer instinct that fans in New England are accustomed to seeing. Good teams close out their opponents in the 4th Quarter.* Good teams put their foot on the throats of their opponents and [...]

the question is, how do you instill that in this team...I couldn't agree more with the post....are we saying however that it is a lack of effort or a faulty system, because if it is a lack of effort, that is somthing that would be real concerning to me if i was in that lockerroom...

I think the article out of Miami is interesting - goes to show you how the other side looks at things

I almost feel we'd have to be in the Locker Room to figure out to what degrees this is a function of Will, Talent and Coaching respectively, though Brady's post-game comments yesterday were telling.

I've so appreciated the ride since 2001 that I'm willing to sit back and see how the team and season unfold. I definitely see us in the Playoffs, where "anything can happen," so I'm going to wait until the Season is truly "over," and not just "over" because of a few disappointing losses (ok, "very disappointing losses").

My own pre season perceptions (as stated in Andy's "One Post a Week" thread before the Buffalo game) were that, while this was a team that, on paper, looked like a 13 or 14 win team, I expected it to go 11--5 because of the multiple intangibles in play (Brady's return, losses of Brewski, Rodney, Vrabel, Harrison, Seymour on D, etc). I have a big ego and like to be right, but that's one where I wish I had been wrong, as I now find myself having to hope that we're "only" 11--5.

How much of the "problems" are a matter of the pieces not working together, of the Coaches, of Brady not being fully Brady (in the opinion of some, but not necessarily of myself), I just don't know.
