It's writing like this that probably lost the Civil War for the Confederacy. Nobody could understand written orders sent by messenger from headquarters to the front lines. What the hell is "a worthless goat-rope"?

I'm not sure if you are pointing out something of an oxymoron (Is there a "worthwhile" goat rope?) or are unacquainted with the phrase "goat rope". I actually thought it was a Navy term (having heard it frequently used when I was on active duty) meaning a confused or chaotic situation, but I'm not sure that's the actual origin of the phrase.

LOL why did maverick get banned?

Unfortunately he couldn't conduct himself in a civil manner and became far too hostile to other posters. That obviously isn't permitted and the mods are all in agreement with me on that. As a matter of fact I wasn't the one who banned him, however I gave the go ahead and I stand behind that decision.

But let's keep this post on topic and we won't dicuss this any further - but hopefully this answered your question

I'm personally very concerned about the number of posters on the board who do nothing other than post senseless, vitriolic and down-right offensive posts. The game thread was full of them, and the board has been since the game finished.

What happened to people having a sense of perspective? Discussing and debating things in a civilised and respectful manner?

Some of the comments and threads since ten past four (your time) shouldn't have been allowed to see the light of day, yet others are completely ignored and over-looked when they make good points. There's seemingly a majority of posters on this board who should be ashamed with themselves, and don't deserve to follow this team and experience the success it has had and will have in the future (and it will).

I do not like the direction the forum is going in, I've seen it elsewhere in other sports with other teams. What are you all, Eagles fans? Jets fans?

Your concerns would carry more weight if you donated the paltry $18 and vested yourself as a supporting member.

See I think I'm just interpreting it differently, which we all do with artistic license and poetry....

When I read "worthless goat-rope" I instantly thought of this little fella....275888632_b931df8ddd.jpg
He appears calm, the goat seems calm..why, he's even wearing a little bow tie and is holding a cane! :D no rope is needed!

Whereas this example could be referred to as a bull-rope:

Note: No walking stick, no bow tie.... a bull-rope would certainly be worthwhile in this situation!

I think we are all just frustrated with what we have been used to seeing from this team.. I was pretty positive even after the NO game, but the colts loss did something to this team , it has shaken its confidence.. Some things we used to count on

Second half adj

Making the play when needed..

No mental errors..

All are happening, and that is what is alarming..

We are still in first, but the rest of the schedule is not all gimme games.. We still had hope with the bye but that went away today..

So I need to pay money for my opinion to be worth anything?

What a load of bollocks.

Cheers for the 'input' though son.

Your post is exactly what I'm talking about.

No actually you don't. Some people seem determined to turn everything into a *****fest around here lately.

Put me in the disappointed but not panicking camp and I do think the many changes over the past year or so have had a greater impact on locker room leadership (Bruschi, Harrison) than on the field.

Great post. Definitely needed a smile this morning, thanks.

Re-read my response to you, "son." I simply said it would carry more weight, as like a certain sphincter everyone has an opinion. But since you're given to colorful language, here's MY definition of "bollocks": someone like yourself with excess of 1,000 posts who swoops in and offers a whining lecture about the quality of discourse (or lack thereof) like they own the place. Get a clue, "son."

I am disappointed with the Pats, but I realize it could be a lot worse. I could be a Steelers fan.

OK - let's calm down. Donations are appreciated but not a requirement, and they have no bearing on the weight of anyone's opinions here. It appears that many are still irritable coming off yesterday's loss, so let's get back to talking football and keep the personal comments out of these threads.

Excellent OP. Thanks!

I understand your need to post this, Ian. Forgive me for becoming miffed at those who take this site and your hard work for granted.

Was thinking of posting my comments somewhere else, but this will do. We are in a state of war here. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and more often than not, we differ upon it. We argue till we are blue in the face over the future of the Pats and the personnel on it till we end up ignoring others posts or calling them out as a troll or and idiot. Sure, I am upset over what happened yesterday and I know we can play better. But as a fan of this team, I can only except what has happened and move onto the next game. This season IMO has been in transition and from what the games so far have showed us is true. We can better and as others have mentioned, a few mistakes here and there is keeping us out of a 10 - 2 record. But we aren't, so I will live with what we are.

Either you don't understand what you typed, or you now realise that it was embarrassing and are trying to get away from it. I'll quote it again for posterity:

It's black and white - if you want to be heard, pay money. Again, rubbish.

As for my original post, it's an opinion (and as you've said, as like a certain sphincter everyone has an opinion) that several seem to agree with, including two people that have sent me PM's offering their agreement.

It's a public forum, subscription isn't a pre-requisite, and until it is, I'll continue to criticise those who see fit to drag this place down by whatever means. Especially seeing as I personally try to contribute positively to each and every thread I post in. It's a discussion forum, not a moan, whinge and ***** forum.

And your $18 gives you no right to tell others their opinion is worthless.

Son.

Who's taking it for granted?

Which part of the criticism was aimed at the fantastic work Ian and the staff do here?

Or are you making things up?

The post was aimed squarely at the increasingly large amount of members on this board who start acting like spoiled brats and worse when things start going against the Pats. Re-read the game thread, some of the comments were hysterically offensive. For example, someone calling Wilfork a fat slob because he tackled Henne who was trying to get to Meriweather after he'd caught the INT and was wrongly whistled for it. There are more, and they got worse and worse and worse during the game. As they have done as the season has gone.

I've seen it before, watching a team under-performing, no matter how well they've done in the past, seems to bring out the lowest form of intelligence in regards to the fan-base, and they begin shouting down and out-numbering the decent posters there are, and before long you're left with a forum full of people who frankly aren't worth the air they breathe.

LOL gimme a break dude. He made a simple suggestion and you picked a fight with him. If you're going to apologize, say it like you mean it. Don't use it to backhand somebody. And yes I know my name is blue and not red so it carries less weight to you. I just don't care that it does.
