How much does the lack of a good tight end matter to this year's team?

that ain't Ben Coates...that guy's Indian...Mahatma Coat

You can't send TE's out into their routes when they are helping the line block.

Wow when I thought you couldn't say something dumber than your posts from yesterday...

Graham and Fauria routinely helped the O-line block, yet were still in many red zone and TD plays.

It's a scheme and play calling issue that isn't even considering Watson and Baker in the playbook. Their catches earlier in the season were ad libs, they weren't even supposed to get the ball.

Are you kidding me? When you have the tight ends tied up blocking, no play by design is going to get them a huge amount of receiving yardage, no matter who the coordinator is. When the play by design is to have them included in the pass rather than blocking, then you'll get your receptions.. of which we already do.

The mods need to give your keypad a rest in this forum.

Hey, Christian Fauria's still around! Let's give him a call!

You get ridiculously anal anytime the team is criticized because you automatically take it as a direct attack on Belichick, which is ridiculous (but not surprising given your history of insanity on this board).

This type of thinking from you is as crazy

This guy is way out of line ... needs a timeout.

Amen. And yet there are still stat whores here who point to the 27 points per game this 2009 offense gets, and even argue that O'Brien is a good coordinator doing the exact bidding of Belichick!!

The more realistic reality is that Belichick's hands are tied from hiring coordinators past a certain salary, and is forced to coach up his own sub-par coaches.

LOL So now you're blaming it all on Kraft cheaping out...

Have we reached the conclusion the current TE talent is better than the old days?

Fauria? He's great on Total access play patty-cake with Zo.

We might also compare this OL with that of the Super Bowl years.

The 07-09 O-lines are better than anything we ever had from 01-04. It's not an O-line talent issue.

This is so much of a no-brainer its unreal - the playcalling utterly sucks. Put Watson with Indy or NO and he's catching at least 5 balls a game

The coaches HAVE to take the pressue off Welker and Moss and get other guys in the game - those years we won the SB we did so because we had an offense with lots of variations, lots of recievers. Now its shotgun, look for Welker, covered, panic, look for someone else, all while the OL is under huge pressure as the D knows we are always playing pass

Brady's binkies are Moss,Welker and Faulk. The other guys are afterthoughts.

It's all about Brady. TE's are obviously pretty far down the food chain for him.

Yes, the OL is an excellent one, and light years ahead of the Super Bowl year.
Our TE's would among the best tandems in the league if the played for Indy or NO.
Our QB is one of the best of all time.
Moss and Welker are the best tandem in the league or very close.
The running game is OK given that we have no 3rd TE and no FB (we are a passing team)
==================================
The bottom line is that we have some of the best offensive talent in the game and one of the best offenses. The "problem" is OL injuries and the inability to finish games.

This offense is stoppable/predictable like the 01 Rams offense.

Well, #3 WR is also a problem. By cutting Galloway instead of designing plays which incorporated his strengths, and then failing to adequately replace him, the team has given other teams an easier time of defending against the Patriots' passing game.

Watson is made of glass.... It's as simple as that.

BB needs to hit home runs on all our picks for two years at least. We are not a team to be feared wherever we play any more....

We need get our mojo back and more glamorous offensive players won't help in that regard.

I want a feared defense. And I do mean FEARED!

OLB and a pass-russing demon on steroids! Big need on this team.....

Sheesh..... Listen to me vent! My bad:eek:

Watson and baker are fine. They have indeed made key plays this year.

As I recall, Wiggins had one great game. It was in the snow, when the rest of the players were slowed down to his speed.

Question is...Without Wiggins making some clutch catches against the Raiders, do we win that game anyway?

It's only a problem because the coordinator refuses to incorporate tight ends into the passing game, and insists on passing 75% of the time with a spread shotgun formation.
