We really not surprised by Florio. We weren't in a position to compete with the Saints at that point in time. There was no reason to put the rest of the season at risk. Pulling isolated incidents out of the vault is plain gutter journalism.

Lose this game, potentially win the next 6? Geez... Mike.. I wonder what the smart move was.

The problem with Florio, other than the fact he's an insufferable douche bag, is that he'll take one premise (which in this case has some legitimacy given the fact the Colts did pull of a miracle so in theory it's possible) and take it to the next level, and then the next, and then the next, and the next until he's at the point where he has Patriots players and coaches sucking on a tailpipe or throwing themselves off bridges because they got their asses kicked in a regular season game against an NFC opponent.

But playing along, what was FAR more likely to happen was Brady gets hit so hard that thing on Drew Brees' face flies off and Brady's night ends in the back of the cart as he waves bye bye to the crowd. Then the mediots would be blaming BB for leaving him in too long in a game that was out of hand. They can have it both ways, which is precisely why these people are cretins.

This is not the first time Brady and others have been pulled from games that were out of hand.

Why would he pull Brady down by 21? Not to risk injury?
But up by 21, leave him in to continue throwing deep. (Running up the score?)
No risk of injury there. Can't really beleive the Pats quit.

No matter if it is spelled with an "e" or an "a", Peyton/Payton maybe in BB's head.

You saw another 'GENIUS' sign of BB. Did he do that with TB, Moss, and Welker?????? Ouch, BB lovers got hurt.

The truth is hurt. NEVER SAY NEVER.

What really happens when we can't compete??

1- We let other talk trash.
2- We pull all the starters.

Dear BB,

STOP WORRIED ABOUT THE 'FUTURE' when you have a crappy present.

Do you think it ever occurred to these nitwits that Belichick was probably more concerned at that juncture of the game about giving some of his players a rest seeing that it was a short week of preparation for more important game against a divisional opponent on the road?

would he have done that if the Pats were up by 21? don't think so. Regardless who the opponent was the following week. What would have you thought if after BB pulls starters, Brees continued to bomb the ball down field for a couple more TDs?

Its obvious that in 2 of the past 3 games,Belichick KNEW his secondary stinks in the 4th quarter and has no chance vs. Elite QBs so he went for it on 4th and 2 against Indy and went for it in the red zone early in the N.O. game instead of a FG to try and keep pace with the Saints offensive juggernaut.

IMO BB OBVIOUSLY has no faith his defense can do anything well, especially late in the game and its bad when a coach is relying on his offense to carry the load and hopefully score enough points to outscore the other team.

Belichick gave up because his secondary was not going to stop Brees for the last 5 minutes so why risk injury to the franchise QB?

You could never say this about the Patriots 5 years ago,BB had a great reliable defense that is no more.

I think that's more or less what happened. Anybody who thinks that game was winnable when those guys left hasn't been watching football for very long or don't know the game very well. There were virtually no signs that we were able to compete after they got to 17 points.

so why risk injury to the franchise QB?

But yet up by 21 he will risk it so Brady can pad some stats?

Well its much more likely they come back on our secondary with the crappy pass rush we have.

You don't get it? Really?

When we have a 21 point lead against an elite offense, you HAVE to keep on the gas to close out the game. If we had a dominating defense this might not be the case, but it is becoming clear that our defense cannot make stops in the 4th quarter.

Last night, we were down 21 points with 5 minutes to play. Is it possible that the Pats offense scores 21 points in 5 minutes? Sure. Is it likely? No. Given the situation, it is even more unlikely (no O-line). Even more important is the defense. We would have essentially forced the Saints to go 3-n-out on 3 straight possessions or get a turn-over. It wasn't going to happen and everyone knows it. BB did the smart thing to take Brady, Moss, and Welker out.

Indeed. Not to suggest that last night's game was meaningless by any means but of the short week with back to back road games, the second road game is the more important one as it virtually clinches the division.

Titans???? 59-0???? elite????

Really??

Let the Colts troll have his fun for now. January is around the corner and the inevitable Manning collapse is coming
