And see what happens, We should run the table if we win in Miami.. Win the division and hope we get the bye... I think playing in San Diego would be more of a death not than playing in Indy... We dont match up well with San Diego... If some how we get to 12-4 and the bye, then we could see what happens...

Right on. As bad as we all feel today and as critical we are of the mistakes, there is still a ways to go. Win out, take the division and then see what happens in the playoffs. Still a chance to make something of this season.

Yeah, let's see. But, this reminds me of 2005 I believe, when we simply could not beat good teams.

Re: Lets win the next 5 get in the tournament..

Once the playoffs start, it's a whole new season. Just look at some of the recent Super Bowl champions. The '05 Steelers were 11-5 and got in as the sixth seed. They were destroyed by Indy late in the season, and had a 3 game losing streak going at one point. But they got hot late, got in the playoffs, knocked off the top 3 seeds, and won the Super Bowl. They played their best football at the best time. The '07 Giants are another example. They suffered numerous ugly losses, including a 41-17 loss to Minnesota and defeats to the NFC & AFC's top teams (Packers, Cowboys, Patriots) all season long. But they, like the Steelers, got hot late in the season and were able to run the table in the playoffs. Now, the Patriots' outlook for the playoffs is actually better than both of those teams, because they'll likely win their division and have at least one home game. It was about this time last year that the Pats turned it on and won out. Playing at their best late in the season is a trademark of the Belichick/Brady Pats teams. Going by history, you just can't count them out, no matter how bad they looked last night. Let's see how things play out. A lot of the recent Super Bowl participants aren't the teams people think will be there even as far as week 13 in the season.

The goal now , should be win the rest and get the bye. Cincy and San Diego should cancel each other out.. San Diego, has Dallas, tenn, Cincy.. .Cincy has minn kc and san diego.. One needs to lose 2,

I can't believe that I am now worried about the Fins this week.

They saw how Brady can be pressured, it is a short week for us, and on top it we are the road to a place where Brady always has problems.

So, irrespective of someone coming up with an astounding stat that BB and TB have never lost two in a row for the last 10,000 years, count me among those hoping, nay, praying, that we get a W against the Fins.

SD needs to lose 2. We get past Cincy with a 12-4 record.

SD losing 2 is probably a 30-50% chance.

So, if we win out, those are our chances of getting the bye.

Bottom line this is not a championship defense. Making it to the playoffs and losing in the divisional round is not my idea of a good season. I fyou cant win the big one then who cares about the playoffs

Offense is one dimensional and the secondary makes ordinary qb's look like Manning.

Drafting the past couple of years has been crap. BB needs to stop trading down and use the picks to trade up and get some talent.

i dont seethis team beating SD or indy on the road.just my opinion. Like 2003...the colts lost on the goal line stand and then went on to win all their games and cameto foxboro. Everyone predicted that this time manning will beat the pats but didnt happen. Roles are reversed now. We lose a tight one in indy. will run the table maybe with avg teams and everyone will get psyched up again.
Indy's D is a lot better than ours because of their pass rush and our D isnt going to get great overnight and our offense has only 2-3 playmakers unlike indy where garcon and collie are catching TDs.
We havent even spoken of SD yet who are probably playing as good as anyone right now.

i think we need to win ours first. there is no gurantee there with just 2 home games left.

Chances of a bye are basically pretty slim...I think the Chargers will get it based on momentum..Cinci will lose to Minn and SD...while SD could lose to Dall, but I really doubt Tenn, Wash, Cleve have that much of a chance...4th place..would play probably Den or the strongest Wild Card..thinking not the Steelers unless they get a BIG second wind. But even if they win that game, it's back To Indy.

Were gonna beat you all like a government mule this year. I aim to show you how valuable I am.

sorry Tom but you arent my team mate yet.

The more think about it, its about getting hot at the right time... The Steelers , the Colts, Giants, and Cardnials all got hot at the right time, all had to play the wild card weekend.. lets take Miami Carolina and Buffalo first, those should be 3 wins... let cincy and san diego take care of themselves.. I think a trip to san diego in the divisional would be bad... The defense wont match up well.. But again its about getting hot at the right time, and we shall see...

I post this in another thread, but I will post it here:

On December 1, 2005, Pittsburgh were 8-4 coming off back to back loss including a 26-7 loss to Indy.

On December 10, 2006, the Colts finished a streak losing 3 out of 4 games including a 44-10 loss to Jacksonville and went on to have statistically the worst run defense in NFL history.

On December 1, 2007, the Giants were 6-5 coming off a 41-17 loss to the Vikes.

On December 1, 2008, the Cards were 7-5 and coming off a 48-20 loss to the Eagles.

Getting in the tourament is key. The Pats other than the game last night have hung in there with every team they played and have lost close games either in the final minutes or in overtime. That means if they can fix some of their problems, they can play with virtually any team.

Titans on Christmas could be a challenge..

Correct me if I'm wrong... But if the following scenario plays out:

We win out (12-4)
SD loses @ Dallas (12-4 at best, we get the nod in common opponents)
CIN loses @ SD (12-4 at best, we get the nod in AFC record)

We get the bye. Is that right? Because all seem quite likely. Not saying the last 5 games are cake or anything, but they're all teams that we should beat. And right now you have to approach each game as a must win.

We need to pull an Indy of 06 and the d needs to step up and start making plays

2006 Colts had the WORST run defense ever at the regular season, as a Superbowl champion. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. But, regular season defense does not necessarily guarantees bad defense when it really matters. I will see what will happen.

here is how im looking at it.. Im going to be positive...

We get the 2 seed

Cincy 3 San Diego 4

Cincy plays Pitt, Denver plays San Diego

Cincy and San Diego win

Cincy plays us, San Diego plays Indy

We win, and San diego beats indy,

San Diego vs Pats afc title game...

The key is San diego gets the 4...

that is quite true but that offense of the colts was always consistent when it mattered.right now our offense is nowhere near that offense of the colts to help the defense play with the lead.
