I'm not sure what was up with Brady but his throws were not great last night and his reads were pretty average.

Brady had Watson open down the seam at one point and he threw to Moss. At another point, Brady went back to Moss over by the sidelines and, instead of putting it only where MOSS could get it, Brady throws a laser that Mike McKenzie is able to bat away rather easily. The couple of times that Brady threw to Watson down the seam, the passes were over-thrown.

And it was more than just "pressure" on Brady. He seemed out of sorts in general..

The down the seam pass to Watson at the end of the half and the overthrow of Aiken were the most startling. those are throws Brees was making and without Brady able to match there's no way we were winning that game.

He had a really crappy game, I think thats all there is to it. He was making those throws the last half dozen weeks.

I think Brady needs to play a game without Moss in there. He's not spreading the ball around well, early when there's time, and it's costing us as even average defenses can stop you when you're keyed on two guys.

Pretty clear that, while his knee might be healed, his head isn't. Before the injury, you very rarely saw the rushed, panicked throws that have become common this year. In fact, he used to have an otherworldly calmness in the pocket. That is gone whenever he faces any kind of pressure. The Saints were giving up the deep ball last night, and Brady couldn't capitalize because he was rushing his throws. Until he regains that comfort level in the pocket, he's not going to be able to go toe to toe with Manning or Brees.

I agree totally. Between the injury and being GQ with Gisele IMO he just doesn't seem to be the same guy who won 3 Super Bowls. He seems to have lost his edge in these types of games.

Seems to happen every time he gets pressure on him. He is not mobile enough, I'm a big fan but I think the end of the road is in sight for TB, perhaps not next year but probably the year after. If it were down to me and I could trade him for Ryan or Flacco then I probably would.Other than that the OL needs a major upgrade to restore the time TB needs to perform like the half-god he is.

We need to stop using this as an excuse. Brady is fine, hes 100%. The major issue here is his protection, it affects his whole game, his reads and throws if he is constantly worried about being rushed. He forced his throws sometimes because he was under heavy pressure. Pre snap he is more concerned with picking up the pressure instead of reading the safeties and corners. It all starts with the OL.

Yes.

Sometimes a QB looks crappy in the same game, and turns it on in the 4th qtr (against the Bills in the opener, Manning against the Patriots for 3 quarters).

It doesn't mean he's not 100%.

It means he's not sharp.

He really did not get comfortable at all back there with all the moving around to avoid the sack. He's most effective in the pocket and stepping forward. If he's constantly avoiding the sack, he's not going to have a good game.

When he had time he made good throws.

But spreading the ball around to who?

Aiken? Stanback?

Ok, I'm starting to think you haven't been paying attention.

Who the &*^% did he throw the ball too before Moss and Welker got there? That's right... ANYONE.

Aiken is a perfectly competent #3 WR. We're not bad off at WR at all, we just need them healthy and an OC who can put them in position to win.

He did spread the ball around, that isnt the issue...

Player-Catches
Moss- 3
Welker- 6
Aiken-7
Faulk- 2
Maroney- 3
Watson -2

Before Moss and Welker got here, we had a bunch of quality WR's, now we just have 2 studs and a few average ones (Aiken, Edelman). Teams shut down Moss and Welker and we have no one to beat them.

The Saints dared us to beat them with our other WRs and we couldnt do that. Our WRs are healthy, I dont know what you mean by that. Edelman yeah hes a little banged up, but not going to make a drastic difference.

That's what I mean. He certainly would make a difference. Two quality slot guys with our feeble O-Line could have a made a big difference when they refused to run the ball.

Sam Aiken couldn't play at WR for the BILLS. THE BILLS. And i mean, he didn't even get on the field as the 4th. He's a special teamer!

Not a big enough difference to win last night thats for sure. Edelman is good for 2 or 3 catches a game. Hes only a rookie, right now hes the #4 WR on this team. The guy has potential, but right now he isnt a game changer.

When the defense is getting in his face before he is even set while rushing only 3 or 4 he is going to struggle. So is every QB by the way. This is Tom Brady's 8th season as the starter here (not counting last yr obviously) and the truth of the matter is in all 8 of them there were games like this. No one seems to remember them because it is human nature to only recall the good things.

For example, that Monday debacle in Miami on Dec 20th 2004 certainly never happenned based on the calls today for the always brilliant play calling of Charlie Weis and the questions as to what is wrong with Tom Brady.

Brady played poorly last night but the last month and a half before it he played as well as any strecth in his career with the excpetion of early 2007.

That's ridiculous. Gisele has no bearing on this whatsoever. Montana was married to a TV actress/model when he won his last superbowl.

Brady is pressing like he did at some points in '05 and '06 and it's hurting us. I think he is fine physically and mentally injury wise but he has to show more confidence in his teammates (deserved or not) and stop making awful mistakes like that first INT. His pick against the Colts was very costly too. It has to do with the playcalling too IMO. Less of the spread and less workload on Brady. Somebody said in another thread that Maroney is becoming one of our better players, well use him.

Thank you.

I would add to that the institutional determination to involve Moss even when it means utilizing him inappropriately. He is not built mentally or physically to run underneath routes, but they force him in there because he's becoming ineffective as a deep threat or even a deep decoy absent another legit outside threat and/or an OL that can handle 3-4 man rush remotely consistently. Just clogs up the middle and makes it easier for defenses to snuff out all our receivers yac (which Moss seldom gets anyway). Same thing killed 4th and 2 in Indy.
