Mayo takes loss hard

I was thinking during the game tonight that this team doesn't have a vocal leader among the defensive starters.

Meriweather seems to be supremely gifted but a bit of a cement head. Mayo seems to be the quiet leader by example, same with Vince. Maybe Chung will grow into this by next year.

But right now, there isn't a guy among the starters who will yell to everyone to raise their game in key moments, or provide the extra spark, strength of will, or passion in key moments.

We used to have tons of strong, proud, loud personalities on D, whether it be Big Willie, Bruschi, Cox, Milloy, Law, or Harrison.

That looked every bit a young, inexperienced and confused defense out there tonight.

as the leader of the D i am happy he is takeing the loss hard

and i would be more happy if he would start stuffing the hole and not let RB's get to the DB's

Mayo=one of the most overrated players in the league right now.

I thought everybody said it was Thomas? Oh wait, they said it was Light. Ah nevermind, i've lost track of how many overated players we have on this roster. Based off his performance, maybe we should add Brady too ;)

The fact that its expected a 2nd year player who's missed half the season should be the "leader" is telling in and of itself. Wilhite cant be expected to match up with premier WRs, though. Nice role player, 3rd or 4th corner. But no way that kid should be starting for us.

Agree. Time to put Wheatley or Butler in their and see how they perform

Agreed. Those 2 INT were very bad throws. Physically, I think he's fully-recovered, but mentally, I'm beginning to have my doubts. As far as the D goes, no wonder BB went for it on 4th & 2 against Indy. After last night's performance it appears to have been an easy decision. The Pats defense flat out sucks right now.:confused:

This could be the loss that turns the season around for the defense. It can only get better from here on out....

I wish, but I'm really skeptical because the losses to Denver and Indy should've been enough to motivate these guys. It may take a full season before this young D really starts to "get it."

with only 5 week's left i cant see how they will get better

they will look better with the team's they have left but come playoff time they will be the same D that you seen last night

This was the loss that proved to the me that the Patriots are not a champsionship team. They are a good team, but only good enough to beat mediocre teams.

Imo Mayo has not been the same dynamic player that he was pre injury, he use to be all over the field. I don't think he's nearly over it yet, its like last year he was hurt but never let on.

One could say right now the Pats' "stock is down." What you're doing is referred to as "calling the bottom." One common observation about the stock market is that it's notoriously difficult, in fact nearly impossible, to indulge in this behavior with any semblance of success over time.

All that to say, it can get much worse. I don't think it will, mind you. But when you've been at the top there's a long way to fall, if you unravel. So I don't comfort myself that "it can only get better."

I do like to think we'll do what we've done earlier this season: Beat bad teams, eke out victories against mediocre "rivals", and sadly (if nothing changes,) lose to really good teams. Unless quite a bit changes in December, it's gonna be a short "championship run," probably a one- or two-game affair.

Overrated, should have drafted DRC

He was invisible tonight.

Unfortunately, he wasn't. He was very visible playing the role of a turnstyle on several plays last night.

Mayo should take this loss hard. He had a Monty Beisel type of performance last night. It was the worst game of his career thus far.
