OT: Roethlisberger possibly sitting out this Sunday

NFL.com Blogs Blog Archive Roethlisberger may sit out; decision on Saturday

If so, it'll most certainly impact the AFC seeding.

Here's to Rumbaburger taking it easy. We all knew it was going to be death by a thousand pump fakes.

Drama boy doing his best Favre impersonation. He WILL play. He's just trying to add to his legacy by adding the dramatic tension. Roethlisberger loves to tell everyone how bad his injuries are before and after games... he's literally talked about bruises, jammed fingers, feeling under the weather. My favorite was when he told the press he had an injury which Cowher flatly denied, after losing to the Patriots in 2004. And now he sets up a Saturday morning meeting. I wonder if his dramatic decision will be adapted for Broadway.

On another note, I don't expect him to have a long career. He's taken as many sacks in 5-6 years as most QBs take in 10-12 years. This concussion could have a serious impact on him, especially considering that head injury he already had with his motorcycle. He is a big guy, but the physical beatings will eventually take their toll, and this guy's stubbornness tells me he will never learn to just throw the ball away.

He should sit out if he doesn't want to be Troy Aikmen x2.

He is a drama queen. But if he sits out this week it might be the first really smart decision he's ever made. He's had 4 concussions in the last 4 years, and no matter how he felt this week that picture of him when he came out last week was vacant...

Puts Tomlin in a tough spot but one he should have planned for all week as well as telling Ben to (Please be quiet - edited) and defer to coaches decision...

If he in fact plays it's just a Favre-esque ploy for sympathy in case they get knocked out of the hunt.

Right now I don't know whether I want the Steelers to win or lose. My first instinct is that Pittsburgh would be a tougher opponent than some other contenders should the Pats meet them in the playoffs - but on the other hand, wouldn't it be fun to beat them in the post-season once agian? And since it is way too early to consider who is playing whom, maybe having San Diego or Indianapolis having to play Pittsburgh rather than Jacksonville isn't all that bad of an idea.

Having to root for either Pittsburgh or Baltimore is a choice no Pats fan should have to make.

rooting for Pit all the way. They can take out Indy in the divisional. PI flags drive me nuts in Indy.

Here's not a far fetched scenario:

Pats get 2 seed, SD the 3 seed, and CIN the 4th seed

PIT the 5th seed, and Jax the 6th seed

Divisional round will likely be

SD at NE

PIT at IND

I'd be happy with that.

He'll play - and who WOULDN'T want to be a three time SB champ ? These people don't worry about "down the road" or "future problems" (rare exception : that RB from the Vikings, R. Smith).

Jay Glazer is now reporting he is out for tomorrow night...and somewhere Dennis Dixon is thinking...oh s*it....

just saw that Jay Glazer is reporting he won't play this week.

Do you honestly think Cinn would loose to Pit in Cinn? They have proven they can handle them this year. I think Cinn vs Indy is more likely and that would be a great game to watch

Picture being Dennis Dixon:

1 week ago, 3rd string qb, 2nd year, blablabla...

Today: "Hey, bud. Tommorow were playing Sunday Night on NBC and we this game is a MUST win. Your playing QB"

EDIT: I hope he goes Michael Vick rushing for 100 something yards with an amazing game. QB controversy.

Rapistburger is way overrated anyway

Worthlessberger is definitely overrated, but he helps his team win games. Any way you spin it, this could be a major loss for the Steelers' playoff hopes.

Most important thing, as always, is the player's health. Too many careers and lives have been cut short due to recurrent head injuries.

Other than the fact that he plays for my Fantasy team, I couldn't care less that he is taking tomorrow off....
Pitt loses.
I'll be stuck playing Henney if he opts out, and while Miami is playing the vaunted Bills, I still have zero faith in him getting me decent fantasy points.

Tough break for the Steelers, this could cost them the playoffs.

Ben isn't overrated at all IMO as some are saying. I'd take Brady, Manning, Brees, Rivers over him and that's it. I don't care how good his defenses have been, he has had to make plays in both title runs and he made them.

Pittsburgh- Playing for their season

Baltimore- Playing for next five seasons (if they lose this game at home, without BR, they won't recover for a long time.)
