Win over Pats will prove Brees is better than Brady

Yup, he went there:
Saints playing for more than just another win Monday versus Patriots

What I found most interesting in the article is how Sean Payton seems to handle each game and the media a lot like BB does.

Sean Payton is a darn good coach. In all honesty, if BB walked away tomorrow, Payton in my choice to lead the Pats.

However, this Ed Daniels guy is one egg short of a dozen.

A win over New England validates Drew Brees as maybe a notch ahead of Tom Brady and on the same level with Payton Manning.

Huh??? So prior to the game, in the mind of this writer his order of QBs is 1- Manning, 2a-Brady and 2b-Brees.

Brees is an outstanding Qb. Love his game. But hes not there- yet.

After a Week 11, regular season game and a Saints win (arrr), according to our boy Daniels, it'll be
1a- Manning, 1b- Brees, 3. Brady.

Never mind stats, Super Bowls, playoff wins, etc. , this logic is astounding...

Nice to know one win trumps 3 rings, 2 superbowl MVPs, an NFL MVP, a 50 TD season, leading a 16-0 season, etc, etc.

Not to mention an NFL record 21 game win streak sandwiched into the masonry of a dynasty.

eesh.

I think I'd probably agree with that. Maybe Josh McDaniels in a few years, but Payton is more experienced.

I just look at the guy's career. Did wonders with Donovan McNabb, Kerry Collins and other mediocre QBs. Knows the modern passing game. Likes to run the ball. Turned that disaster in NO around and gets them in the NFCCC in 06. Learned from Parcells in Dallas. Seems to be a good leader. I'm impressed with him. He just needs to win a SB to be considered an elite coach.

My .02$

Before the season, I was hoping the Patriots would get to play in another Superbowl this year. Little did I know that they'd end up playing in two of them (week 2 and week 12) before the playoffs even started. Congratulations NY and NO.

Why even think Brees is better than TB? Any rational person would
not ever go there.

Brees is in a situation that covers his weaknesses.

Brees would be an average QB if he was playing
this year for the PATs.
IMO

Tommy handles all kinds of pressure and has only a mediocre running game
to work with.
Protect Brady like Brees gets protected and give Tommy a running game
like Brees enjoys and Tommy would set records that would never be
matched for a thousand years.!

Exactly, its the Superbowl for the Pats, just another game for the Saints.

By Pats fans' logic Dilfer is better than Marino

OK, that's not a good way to introduce yourself unless your objective is to get on everyone's ignore list.

This board has a long tradition of welcoming opposition posters and many of us look forward to the return of intelligent, trash-talking rivals from the Jets, Colts, Chargers, etc. We think of them as smart fans, who understand the game. By that standard, you're off to a pretty weak start.

The Dilfer-Marino, Brady-Brees analogy is just so ridiculous as to be not worthy of a response other than to say that Brady and Brees are both players who have put up great numbers in careers that have spanned almost the exact same number of years, but one of whom has five appearances in the AFCCG, four appearances in the SB, three rings, a League MVP, two SB MVP's, a 16--0 season, a 21 game win streak and, oh yeah, the NFL record for single season TD's. Dilfer is a guy with a career pass rating of 70.2 who went to and won the big game once after going 7--1 in eight starts that season. Marino is... Well, it's silly to compare them other than, yes, Dan never won a ring. But otherwise, it's just silly, so don't embarrass yourself.

Try again. We're a forgiving crowd. That article was written by a hometown reporter who is, understandably, excited about the biggest game to come to the Superdome since, well, the last time the Pats played there.

I don't think Brees is the QB Brady is, but don't you think saying he'd be average on the Pats is a bit much?

Matt Cassel almost made the playoffs on this team. If Drew Brees were to step on for Brady, the Pats might not be quite as good, but they'd still be a damned formidable team and Brees would put up some very good numbers.

HAHAHAHAHA, wow dude seriously? Brees threw for over 5,000 yards last year with his top 3 receivers injured most of the year. CAN... YOU... COMPREHEND... THAT? How many times has Brady thrown for over 5,000 yards? Even in that great 07 record setting year throwing Techmo bowl type passes to Moss he still didn't throw for over 5,000..... but Brees did throwing to 3rd and 5th string receivers. Put Brady on last year's Saints team and I bet he looks like garbage.

I know this may be hard to read and fully comprehend so read it over and over quite a few times before responding. Let it sink in the greatness of Breesus.

Lol, from what I have seen on these forums is Pats fans are delusional and arrogant. Clinging onto past year's achevements. What the Pats and Brady did in past years aint going to help you come Monday. You have every right to be proud of what your TEAM has accomplished, but throwing that crap in Saints fans faces when talking about the CURRENT teams is just pathetic.

I am willing to forgive you guys though. Try again. I know you can do better.
