What's the plan if S. Neal's injury is long-term?

I see that he's not at practice again, today. Do you trust the back-up's or is the beginning of a shuffling of the line?

I wonder if Nick Kaczur has any experience at gaurd? I figure once Light comes back he and Sebas will handle the tackle spots with Kaczur the odd man out.

I don't see any other choice. We're going to have to trust the back-ups. The Colts pass rush was much more deadly with him out, though.

We can only hope.

Connolly plays guard.

I agree w/Jimke, Connolly plays for Neal. Pats wouldn't shuffle two OL spots by moving Kaczur to fill one opening at RG. Not to worry though because I read somewhere this week, forget where, that quoted Neal saying his head injury wasn't a concussion and he didn't see it being a problem this week.

The offense falls apart without Neal. I don't know what it is, because he's generally unheralded. But after he went down agains the Colts it was like the last Super Bowl all over again.

It's actually quite simple. One of Brady's best attributes as a quarterback is his ability to sense pressure from the outside and step up into the pocket, which is generally well protected, to complete a pass. When Neal goes out, teams get pressure up the middle and inhibit said ability forcing Brady to throw passes off of his back foot most of the time. That's EXACTLY how the Giants won that Super Bowl. The pressure coming in from the outsides wasn't the problem. It was the pressure coming from up the middle.

I'll say this again because it bears repeating: Stephen Neal is the most important component to our offensive line.

If Light comes back you can move Vollmer to RT, and I would rather sit Kaczur, but since BB has a man crush on him he gets to start at RG. Everyone is happy.

We are NOT playing two players out of position against the jets. It's just not happening. I expect Connolly to start at RG and Kaczur at RT. I expect that they have had lots and lots of practice working together.

Belichick will start the line that gives us the best chance to beat the jets. Maybe Light will start, maybe Vollmer. The other will have limited action as a TE (sixth OL).

Yes I. Here's where having two excellent LT's comes into play. Vollmer is a better matchup against physical freaks playing in a troglodytic scheme. In Ryan's scheme, Vollmer's lack of experience could be problematic. I think that Light is the answer against the Jets and what they do. While I believe that Vollmer is the better player, Light's awareness and experience have the greater benefit than Vollmer's obscene skill set and athleticism.

Like you said, look for Vollmer to be involved as a TE in this game. If I was drawing things up, I would have Vollmer as a motion TE once the Mike was identified. I would bring Vollmer into motion towards the overload and release Scooter and Mini Me into the vacated zones. This could be lethal.

83, my man, 83.

Gotcha.. didn't know he had a new name. What name shall we give Stanback? I see Brady going empty more often this time around.
