Both reported by PFT:

  • The Buffalo Bills have signed quarterback Brian Brohm, a 2008 second-round pick by the Packers, off the Packers' practice squad. (Yes, like O'Connell, he only lasted one season with his original team's roster, and that was post-Favre.)
  • Tom Cable has benched JaMarcus Russell in favor of Bruce Gradkowski.

thanks for the info. i can see that a new QB on the roster of a divisional opponent might affect the Pats, but don't see the Oakland connection. Can you illuminate?

*cough* Seymour trade *cough* ;)

Let's hope that Oakland keeps on being Oakland, and Gradkowski does just enough this year to keep them from getting a real QB in the offseason and getting better next year (thus worsening our pick).

I feel that our pick can't possibly be bad as long as Al Davis is alive and still running the show. Here's to you Al Davis: Keep on keepin' on!

Brian Brohm......there ya go....Bills are gonna run the table.....

Sure looks like they are throwing in the towel for the year......

ok...maybe they slipped me decaf this morning, but the connection is still a stretch. He's on his third team in his three years in the league. Is he going to upgrade their performance so our pick is worth less? Unless, of course, you're playing the "Sixth Rounder" card. We all know what unheralded QB's drafted in Round Six can do......

It's not him playing per se, it's the demonstration that Oakland is willing to bench Russell. That previously verboten decision could mean that they're surprisingly smart enough to stop shooting themselves in the foot and might actually improve the team a bit in 2011. Maybe.

They can improve all they want in 2011. I just want them to suck in 2010. ;) :singing:

When all is said and done, Al will decide that Cable has to go and therefore JaMarcus deserves another chance. To kill yet another HC.

There's one more QB move to consider as well: Kyle Orton may not be able to play. Chris Simms has been getting the snaps in practice for the Broncos, who play San Diego this week.

If San Diego passes Denver and wins the AFC West, then there would presumably be no tiebreaker involved between the Broncos (a wildcard team) and the Pats (a division winner.) On the other hand the winner of this game keeps pace for the third seed, one behind Cincinnati (unless the Bengals lose.)

They know they aren't good enough to compete, and a glaring weakness on that team is QB, so why not try and see if they have to draft one......they probably don't want to spend the NECESSARY coin to draft a 1st Rd QB.

I guess that is waving the white flag in a sense, but how much worse can it get!!

Shanny probably said "FU Mr Brown, your Qbs Suck"!!!! :D

It's SHOCKING that Uncle Al let Cable bench that Fat Load he said was "A great Quarterback, Get over it"!!

Kiffin must be laughing his ass off!!

Russel is bad....really bad.
