So many of us fans have Bill's back even if we didn't agree with the call because so many of us fans hate the pompous blowhard I want you to kiss my bum media just as much as Bill Belichick does.

Great stuff and on the money!!!!!
The Media Continues To Pile On With Their Irrational Hatred Toward Belichick Boston.BarstoolSports.com

" But let’s stop kidding ourselves that it’s about the merits of what he did or did not do at Lucas Oil. The anger and bitterness on this issue all stems from the fact that His Hoodedness doesn’t play grabass with these guys, period. All he cares about is doing that which is going to put his team in a position to win, not curry favor with the toner-stained wretches in the press. It’s not successful all the time, but it’s the reason his players… past and present… admire the guy and the media detest him. And why the fans continue to have his back, the press be damned"

"There are two main conclusions we've come to in the wake of 4th-and-2-Gate:

ONE - The most sober, reasoned, rational, fact-filled and well-thought responses were provided by the citizen-journalists in the dreaded "blogosphere."

TWO - The old Molotov-****tail-tossing character assassins from the traditional mainstream media paraded through the streets of cyberspace as if it were Kill-a-Jew Day in the Gaza Strip. "Death to Belichick! Death to Belichick!"

It's a fascinating dichotomy."

Thanks for posting that.

A friend of mine put it well after listening/watching ESPN and WFAN on Monday: "You would have thought Belichick had killed someone."

I could see the national hysteria if "The Call" cost the Patriots a playoff game or a spot in the playoffs, but it was a regular season game in November. It sucked to see the gamble fail and the team lose, but there are 7 more games, plus the playoffs, to go. This wasn't close to "Grady Little in the 2003 ALCS" territory.

I agree! It's the media who have made complete fools of themselves on this story and what we've seen has been their agenda on display. The mainstream sports media is no different than the mainstream news media and we all know how disingenuous and agenda driven they are.
How can we Patriot fans not have genuine respect for a coach who refuses to return Peter I am a legend in my own mind King's phone calls? ;)
Love Belichick because he's real and the phony media can't take it.

I don't think the media hates Bill at all ... I'm sure some do ... media people have their favorite teams also. Belichick, T.O, Rex Ryan is getting there ... are ratings bonanzas. An easy way to write a story that will get read.

It reminds me of some adolescent "in-group" thinking whereby the mob-mentality leadership mandates that everyone must hate an individual because that person is different, doesn't fit in or refuses to follow the mob like a lemming. The fact that the media members can't see how ridiculously foolish they look in this only speaks to their incredible lack of honesty and integrity. I'd respect them more if they just outright admitted that they hate the guy. Instead, they pretend that he's not good at what he does which every rational person knows is ludicrous. They ought to be ashamed, but they never will be.

I hate to sound like a broken record on this topic, but it bears bringing up again... all this BS started when BB was in Cleveland. The media there hated Art Modell with a passion, and since he was so enamored of BB, the media took out their anger with Modell on BB. Before too long BB learned that anything he said could be (and often was) twisted eight ways from Sunday. And when he tried to improve the Browns by cutting Bernie Kosar, they really let him have it.

So after that he decided he just wouldn't give reporters anything they could use against him, and they don't like it. They see him as an arrogant creep when all he's doing is the world's longest game of CYA.

Bill is arrogant to the media sheeple ... can't blame him really. they who know little get to question he who is a football genius ... that's messed up.

I think a lot stems from when Belichck gave a big F. U. to the Jets in order to come to the Patriots. A lot of media comes out of New York. He has been vilified ever since.

BB is unconventional. Does what he wants. Doesnt care what others think. It gives the media an easy target. But who really cares. He has the respect of his peers.

I have not heard or read anyone who did not claim (at worst) that Bill was "the best coach of the last 20 year" and (at best and more common) "the best coach ever".

If you can find someone, please post the link.

And Bill doesn't care but if he did, he'd want to be known as "good" than "friendly".

I wouldnt be surprised if Bill does it by design, some sort of leadership tactic that serves to fuel the players to play harder.
The funniest thing is listening to some in the media say the 4th and 2 play (anyone remember this play :p) that he did it out of gut reaction because Peyton manning is in his head and it wasnt a thought out decision.

Who cares about media. Fox news shows you what media is about. Spin and rating.

I have not always been in Bill's corner especially on roster issues, but I believe Bill made the right call. I hope we keep the edge next time we play the Colts. I know Bill will.

My hunch is that Colts and Pats won't be playing each other this year again.
Some one might be able to run crazy on that D and someone ought to show the indiana country pumpkins what playoff football is about. I hate the league sanctioned cheating going on with that team.

The media hates BB because he does not give them the time of day.:)

Bill is arrogant to the media sheeple ...

Wouldn't that be the pot calling the kettle black? Hard to imagine a more arrogant bunch than Shaughnessy, Borges, Callahan, King et al??
What I love is how the voices in the new media are calling out the old guard for their obvious personal agendas.

Does not make any difference if it is old guard or new guard, BB only does press conferences because it is dictated by the NFL, he views his time as valuable and does not like distraction.. how many times are they going to ask the same question?.. He gives an answer, sometimes they think they are going to trip him up... yea right.. remember the time in an interview that someone asked him where he kept his SB rings???

Borges has a very old ax to grind, Callahan is about the ratings and attracting listeners to his morning show.. Peter King is another media whore, if he agreed he may have lost one of his viewers..

WEEI all week, particularly the moring show, has been playing the arrogance card... none of this is about the Pats or what is good about football, it is about the ratings.. and BB due to his demeanor, can be someone that folks can hate.

Agree about the morning show on WEEI but remember that both Dennis and Callahan are "old media". Both these guys have been in Boston for decades and dolts like Borges are their boys. IMO their personal animus, and it's clearly personal towards Belichick has little to with a ratings grab and more to do with their jealousy and ongoing civil war with the Big Show, a Belichick friendly zone.

PS - I dropped Peter King an email and asked him to comment on the old media's irrational hatred of BB and how personal agendas end up in their work product. Let's see of Peter addresses the issue in his mailbag next week.

The conflict with the "Big Show" is contrived and is more about the ratings than actual animus..

The Borges thing is separate and distinct, as Ronnie felt wronged by BB early one.. forget the whole story, but something that had to do with Bledsoe... and he has been spewing venom since... I used to email Borges all the time, and then realized that essentially I was dealing with a hate filled child.

He's going to get all pissy and say "that's ridiculous...98% of the country think I kiss his feet". I know this from experience, cause that as what he tweeted me after I told him it's clear through reading his column that he doesn't like Belichick and takes a shot at him when ever he gets the chance.

I don't doubt for a second King will get pissy on the subject if he addresses it at all. This guy has an ego as large as anyone who plays or coaches the game. It's not by accident when King makes it known in his column that a player or coach "sent me a text a half hour after the game" or "called me from the lockerroom" i.e., look how important I am, how much mojo I have with these insiders ...blah....blah....blah...
That's why I love Belichick - he ignores Peter King and you can bet that goes up King's ego filled arse sideways.
