I'm at work so I have to make this quick, but wanted to give everyone an update while I had a minute.

Very early this morning I had the processor upgraded on the main server to better handle the nationally televised night games, which tend to be when we have the maximum number of people in here refreshing the game thread. Obviously we lost it for the last five minutes of Sunday night's fiasco - so after discussing it with them and looking at the cause of the server freezing I went ahead with it. They took it down around 3am ET and I believe we were down for about an hour during the changeover.

Things have worked pretty well the past few weeks and the game days up to that point had gone off without a hitch, so this should take care of the last scenario which we experienced Sunday night. I've scheduled them to be with us to monitor it during the New Orleans game in two weeks, which would be the next big nationally televised game for us when we tend to have more people here. Provided the load is handled well during that I think this should solve that last problem.

So anyone who was here this morning and couldn't get on, that was the reason.

Thanks Ian for the update.

Yeah, for me, right when the fumble in the endzone, everything went south with the site.....

As Florio would say... "Get them hamsters lined up!"

That's when I lost it also. The box locked up and I couldn't get in, and it took some time for support to get the datacenter to reboot it. So since the DB server load has been ridiculously low, I had the processor and memory increased on the main one to better handle the Apache connections. We'll look at it in two weeks during that game and see if the numbers improve. It's quite a change, so it should be much better.

Just as an observation, because I don't know if it was a decision of yours or part of what transpired, the Sub-forums are back on top of the thread listings.

They aren't for me unless I'm not logged in.

Hmmm.... let me do a log out/log in and see if it changes.... brb

edit: I did a log out/log in and it didn't work. I followed that up by clearing all cookies and resetting all my Firefox settings (overkill, but what the hey). That didn't work either.

2nd edit: a reboot after clearing everything didn't work.

Random observation: your one post away from 12,000

Thanks, this has been my random observation......and the jets will put up a goose egg this weekend

Thanks Ian. I know there were a lot of Maroney haters who were really upset that they couldn't vent on how Maroney was the worst Patriots pick ever and they would rather have a snail with a broken shell carrying the rock. :D
