Sure the loss sucked, but it's not like we lost the Super bowl.

I was pissed last night, but after listening to the talking heads a bit this morning before turning on the satellite radio for some Hair Nation, I've moved on.

We are still 6-3.

We've all but locked up the AFC East.

I feel really good about the rest of our schedule, except for the Saints. But I'll worry about that when the time comes.

And I Billieve that if and when we face the Colts in the playoffs we will win.

I'm staying positive and really looking forward to this weekend against the Jets. I just hope the rain holds out until the game is over.

Now if you'll all excuse me, I got a chilled glass of vodka calling me.:D

yea, im over it too now....

we lost yea....

but our D showed promise...if it can do what it did the 1st half a little bit more, colts dont get more than 3 tds....

screw this I hope it snows at the game!!!! I would love to watch the jests slip around and make fools of themselves

You know, I think the worst part about the Patriots losing is the crap I have to hear from people about it. I don't even talk trash to people, before or after games, and I still get texts / facebook messages harassing me. But aside from that crap, this game is just another notch in the loss column. Nothing more, nothing less. There is way to much time left in this season to be locking us in the #3 / #4 playoff spot. This is an unpredictable game.

How many people here thought the Broncos would have dropped one to the Redskins? Or the Titans going 3-0 after losing to the Patriots?

Agreed! Losing that game just pissed everyone off because the Pats threw the game away through their mistakes. Because it didn't work the 4th and 2 call was a mistake but I LOVE Belichick's swagger. Right or wrong he's got the stones to do what he thinks is best for his team. Totally respect that! The Patriots dominted the Colts for 3 quarters. I'd LOVE a rematch in Indy. Sadly I don't think the Colts will make it that far. I really don't. Not impressed!
Two trends concern me with the Patriots.
*Brady is throwing a pick every single game in trying to force the ball to Moss in double coverage. That has got to stop because sooner or later that's going to happen in a huge spot during the game and will cost the Pats big time. Tom has got to show more patience and better judgement. We all know how great a receiver Moss is but if the play isn't there the play isn't there. Need to maintain possession and keep the O, the real strength of the team, on the field.
*This defense wilts in the 4th quarter on the road. Gave up 4th quater leads in NY...in Denver....in Indy. If this team is winning anything this year that's got to stop. This D has got to step it up in a big spot on the road.

I'll take the snow. I just can't stand the rain.

Well spoken friend.

We need to move on. I remember feeling 100000000X worse after the AFC game and the SB. Remember, that was the end. There was no waking up the next day to discuss the next game. It was over, a long offseason begun with failure. So lets be lucky this kind of **** happened now so the team wont let it happen again. They still have enough time to get better, anything can happen.

People thinking this team is a super bowl lock should temper their expectations. Unrealistic expectations is why this board goes insane every W-L. We need to get perspective. I'm not bashing the team, but no they're not the certain things they once were in do or die situations.

I'm no longer going into games thinking no way they lose, I understand now it's honestly 50/50 at any day in this league. Sorry for the long rant but maybe if more people got this perspective they would be alot less stressed?

yeah me too. Seriously folks have you looked at like the top 10 threads, they are all about the Colts game.

We lost, woop-d-doo. It was not playoffs, it's one game.

One game.

Enough about Sunday man, we must have like 20 threads on it. Let's move on to the Jets. No team on our schedule is gonna dial it in so let's refocus and get better....

To add to this...

People complaining about calls and all that non stop. Nothing is going to change the outcome, it's over. The game will not be replayed. People need to comprehend this and move on seriously. It's like talking about nothing and there's 3892493482 threads on it.

I was over it by mid-morning, usually it takes a day to move on from a loss. My medicine now? Reading threads here after a loss! I think we will slaughter the Jests sunday and be in total control in the AFC East (would also help if Carolina beats the Fins thursday night).

I still think a first round bye still isn't out of the question.

:agree: It's time to move on and focus on the Jets. I'm looking forward to that game as well.

Except for the outcome, that game was possibly the best I've ever seen.

IMO, those first 3 quarters were the best we've played all season. We have shown we are a major force to play that well against the Colts on the road and that we have the potential to go far in the playoffs.

Lots of positives in that game; especially Vollmer controlling Freeney who at the moment is probably the best pass rusher in the league. And the fact that Vollmer didn't receive a lot of help from a TE or RB goes to show the confidence in this kid. Is it just me or did he receive a lot less help than Matt Light did last year? Maybe it was because Brady was playing instead of Cassel I don't know.

Anyway, focus on the positives and hope that they learn from their mistakes and improve.

After having spent money and traveled to the last Super Bowl, everything else pales in comparison to that loss and the feeling afterward. In a good way, that loss helped put sports in perspective for me (as did the Brady injury) and ever since I just haven't beaten myself up as much after the team loses.

Sunday night sucked and was an emotional drain, but after that, after digesting some media and messageboards, I'm done with it.

Now I can just look past the details and just see it as a close one-point loss to an undefeated team.

I've been over it since around 6:00 P.M. yesterday. I'm still speculating that both the offensive and defensive coordinators need to be called into Belichick's office for the ****yfoot playcalling that ensued midway through the third quarter on both offense and defense (particularly the laid back, non-attacking defense we went into that really let the Colts back into the game), but that's about it. Keep perspective people. We have three more supposedly tough games left now. vs. New York, @ N.O., @ Miami. I have all the confidence in the world in this team. First the first time this season, Brady looked like he did in 2007. When we gave him the ball and told him to be aggressive, and he cut through that defense like a hot knife through butter. What he did in quarters 1-3 was nothing short of impressive and we had no reason to put the leash on him and the offense, but we did. We should be able to beat the Jets pretty convincingly. I'm not scared at all of New Orleans. And we SHOULD be able to sweep Miami down in South Florida (particularly if Ronnie Brown is still out).

If we can win these next three games, we shouldn't have a problem going 13-3 and if that isn't good enough to lock up the second spot in the playoffs, then that means that Cincy is the real deal and is headed to the Super Bowl this year. I hope to GOD that we see the Colts again in the playoffs. NOTHING would make me happier.

Amen, bro... I was ripped after the game at what i considered to be a blown call, but it is what it is. I, too, feel pretty good about the rest of the season and have no doubt we'll see the dolts again on our way to the Superbowl.

respects,

We have not locked up the division IMO--well it's not my opinion it's a fact actually.

If we lose another game before we play MIA on the 6th, and they win their next 2 against their lousy opponents, they can overtake us at 7-5 with a victory against us. We have a chance to overtake the division in the next 3 weeks with victories against the Jets and Fins, but not before.

Since the New Orleans game will be more than a challenge to us, the game at MIA becomes quite important actually. If we happen to lose to the NYJ or NO, then MIA will be playing an important game at home to overtake the division.

Of course we may be able to overtake it back down the stretch, or they may even lose to CAR on Thursday, but there's still a chance MIA has a lot to play for on Dec.6 against us in primetime.

I'm also over it, though it's been fun talking about various decisions in that game. Honestly - and I'm not kidding about this - I think this team may about to go on a ridiculously sick roll and just start pounding people. I think they'll destroy the Jets, beat New Orleans, who hasn't been playing that great despite the spotless record, and then roll through December. Maybe one more loss the rest of the way, but maybe not even that.

This team has got to be mighty pissed off and they'll want to take it out on everyone they play. Certainly, the past few weeks have shown that they are really starting to get it offensively and defensively (the defense's 4th quarter vs. Indy notwithstanding).

Losing this game is *SO* much better than losing the Super Bowl in 2007 or the AFCCG in 2006, because they come right back this week and get after it again.

If this were a 12 step program you're almost there. The decision to become conservative emanates from the HC. It's who he is and it won't change until or unless HE becomes convinced the alternative is a more viable approach.

Agreed. Hopefully, this leads to the same result that the Xmas eve 04 game v. MIA led to...a fire under their bellies and a more focused group down the stretch.

I still wonder if some of the obvious weaknesses can be masked enough to achieve the ultimate goal however. It seems at times, the younger guys in the secondary seem to get worked on, and the lack of a consistant pass rush leaves the QB with a lot of time.

I only hope that we don't hear all offseason about how we're obvious favorites to win next yr, with a more experienced and gelled defense, and the same powerful offense. I think we can compete with anyone, but I also think there are weaknesses--and at this point I don't know if anything can be done enough to go all the way. I do think that we have just as good a chance as anyone, but am leery of teams with some more formidable defenses come playoff time. I guess all you can ask for is the ability to compete in every game, and this team certainly has that ability.
