Enough of all of the analysis over how we blew the Colts game. It's time to move on.

Jets come to Foxboro on Sunday. A lot of things have changed since we lost 16-9 in New Jersey:

1. Tom Brady is back full force. He was vintage Brady in the Colts game, spreading the ball around to 8 different receivers. He has 19 TDs and just 6 INTs in 9 games, is 2nd in the NFL in passing yardage has completed almost 2/3 of his pass attempts, and has a rating over 100.

2. Wes Welker will be playing. He missed the first Jets game.

3. The long passing game has returned. It was a thing of beauty in the 2nd quarter against the Colts.

4. Sebastian Vollmer has emerged as a bona fide future franchise LT, and brings a dimension of power and physicality that Matt Light never had.

5. Joey Galloway is gone, and we have multiple guys besides Moss and Welker who have contributed as receivers.

6. Lawrence Maroney is running with an attitude.

7. Jerod Mayo is back, and Gary Guyton has matured.

8. Derrick Burgess is beginning to show signs of life.

9. Brandon McGowan has taken over the starting S spot opposite Brandon Meriweather, and Meriweather & McGowan have emerged as an elite safety tandem.

10. Patrick Chung and Darius Butler are becoming forces to be reckoned with on the defense. The secondary has come together as a formidable unit, and is producing big plays and turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Jets have regressed since week 2, when they were coming off a dominant opening win against Houston and were full of confidence. Now they have their tail between their legs and are whipped. Mark Sanchez has thrown 12 INTs and just 9 TDs, with a passer rating of 66.5. The Jets are 1-3 in the conference and 4-5 overall, and a loss would pretty much finish them.

Lots to look forward to.

Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

It's a biggun and never a slam dunk when those guys come to town. The rivalry has really peaked and I can't wait for this one. I'm glad that Leon won't be there, that guy is really tough, not to mention Jenkins. But I'm not predicting the blow out that many others are.

I'm hoping Morris and Light can get some PT this week.

I just started a thread on it:

Re: Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

My question is will Mark Sanchez spend more time this week writing his post game press conference speech or studying Patriots game film?

How can things change in two months. The last time the Pats and Jets met, the Jets were everyone's binkie and legitimate Super Bowl contenders and Sanchez was runaway leader for Rookie of the Year. Now the Jets are considered frauds and a mess and Jets fans are calling for Kellen Clemens.

I think the Pats should win this game pretty handily. Everyone on the radio seem to be talking about the Patriots having a hangover from the Colts' game, but what about the Jets. They just lost their fifth game in six games, MJD and the Jags totally outsmarted the Jets to win the game in the final seconds, and the NY media are killing them especially Ryan, Sanchez, and some of the talker on defense.

Based on Sanchez's play and his bizzarre post game press conference, I think Pete Carroll was right and he should have stayed in school another year. I think he is having difficulty going from the Golden Boy for most of his life to the harsh criticism of the NY media. I wonder about his mental make up.

The Jets still have a good defense and running game. So the Pats can't sleep on them, but the Pats are clearly the better team. I think the Pats are looking for some revenge from week 2 and have their egos bruised from Sunday night. I have a feeling the Jets could be victims of their fury.

Let's see how the Pats counter the Jets pressure this game. Should be interesting.

I sure hope you're right.

What did Sanchez do in his press conference.

Re: Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

personally, i need one more day of wallowing in my misery :D

but i will say that if there's any team the Pats will be able to get up for after a deflating loss and want to kick some serious green butt, it's the Jests, Wrecks and the Sanichize, winner of the September Super Bowl

Yes, moving on, the COlts game is in the book, instant classic and in a weird kind of way it was interesting to hear all the commentary on it in the media the past couple days.

Can we catch the Bengals, absolutely.

The Jets, having Wes for this game should help. Will be interesting to see our D 'respond' to last week. Definitely interested in seeing Brady continue to improve, Moss played great last week I thought.

Week to week improvement folks, week to week improvement. We have a lot to build off of re: the Colts game....

The three things I think we need are :

3rd WR.
Consistent running even on run downs.
Pass rush.

Hopefully we will start to see them this week. Edelman is back. Morris has a good chance to be back. Pass rush is a little iffy but with Burgess looking more alive, when TBC comes back maybe this will be decent. It won't be a great pass rush with this personnel but it can hopefully be better.

Re: Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

sorry, Patjew, but i need perhaps 1 day more to re-cover...it was so tough and i feel exactly the same way after our L against NYG in the Super Bowl

i admit that i still can not believe we lost a game like this

but...i try...we have to think about the Jets

we are @ home and we need a win as an Afc East game: i thought the Jets were a better team, expecially at the beginning of the season but for sure they will give everything next sunday

a crucial game...

The nice thing is that this time we only have to wait 7 days for another game. In 2006 and 2007 it was 7 months. I think we'll all be feeling better this time next week.

this is true: i agree, Patjew

it is, only, still november and anyway this Patriots team is a real good one imho and i was impressed by Vollmer ! he playied so well...

I think the Pats are going to beat the Jets like a rented mule.

I was thinking of posting a thread on the Colts game, but I was afraid of drowning with land in sight in that endeavour. So here's what I think about the Jets game (influenced by the Colts game).

I think Hoyer will end up closing this game out, but that they won't want to end it that way. The score will be out of hand early. Some of that's motivation, but some of it is...

  • Derrick Burgess is starting to show up. I think it was mentioned by some of the realists here that it might be a slow progression for him. This will be a good test and I think he'll pass.
  • Isaiah "The Prophet" Stanback looks like a solid receiver. With Edelman back, that makes 3 solid #3 WR options when you include Aiken.
  • Morris looks to be back. That's huge, and I hope everyone realizes how huge it is. Also, I heard one interview with a player (I forget who) who almost slipped that the RB's were soon to be all back, and then diverted the talk to Sammy.
  • Vollmer is the LT at this point and he's badass. Brady will be baking cakes back there.
  • Brady is all up ons. No doubt, he's coming to play every week now. All kinds of big-plays, the return of the long-ball, and four consecutive 300+ yard games now beats his personal best and I don't think the streak ends Sunday.
  • A win would essentially leave only the Dolphins with even a prayer of sneaking back into the mix and the Pats know this. Missing the playoff's is a much bigger stake than losing home-field advantage and I think this will push the Pats hard.
  • The smell of blood will create a feeding frenzy. If the Jets get soft even for a minute (like we did on Sunday night) the Pats will go for the jugular. They've talked a lot and the Pats owe them a trouncing. Moreover, the sting from Indy will motivate a merciless attack.

Make no mistake guys, this game isn't necessarily a gimme, but it's pretty darn close. I don't expect a win, but a vicious, statement making, headline making F.U. win in our house.

Yes, I agree with everything you said. I think Edelman was really emerging as the teams 3rd WR until he broke his arm. I thought that Maroney really didnt run that bad in the Colts game. Hes scored TDs in each of the past 4 games. I loved the run to set up the pass early in the game. It worked to perfection. Burgess showed some potential Sunday. This team the past few years has never really been known for its pass rush so its not unexpected that we havent had a strong one this season

Give it up. Move forward.

We're still in good shape to go into the playoffs as one of the top 3-4 teams in the NFL.

Everybody in the world knows that we kicked the Colts *ss for 48 minutes and totally dominated them before letting them back in the game, and that we will be bent on annihilation if we meet them again. Who do you think will be more afraid of that meeting, the Pats or the Colts?

Let's move forward and build on this. I want to see the Pats play the rest of the season with a huge chip on their shoulder from this loss in a cold fury that takes no prisoners. Hopefully the 4th quarter meltdown will destroy any further uses of soft defensive schemes and predictive offensive schemes, and we will go back to the things that make us dominant.

I guarantee you that if we destroy the Jets and beat NO decisively in subsequent weeks we will be 8-3 going to Miami and we will be heavy favorites to win out and go 13-3.

Re: Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

Ya gotta have faith that the Pats are the type of team that learns from and improves as a result of analyzing its mistakes. Get healthy. Win the division. Wreak hell.

Re: Anyone want to talk about the Jets game?

What's the status of Green & Warren?

Now that a day has passed, I'm pretty stoked that we can hopefully look forward to getting back these 2 guys, Sammy Morris, and hopefully Fred Taylor.

I'd like to see more of Stanbeck as well.

If there's one thing Peyton did show, is that he's willing to go to guys other than Wayne & Clark for big plays. Brady is pretty locked on Welker, Moss & Faulk.

this is huge game regardless of the rivalry crap. the pats havent lost 2 consecutive games since 2006 .but the last time they lost 2 consecutve was colts and jets .
I hope they come out like they did against the colts

This game is no gimmie, and again people are acting like this team is the OLD Patriots coming out pissed, well they aint sorry folks.

Time for THIS Patriots team to show us whats up the rest of the way
