Hypothetically, say we are facing the Colts in the AFC Championship and its
4th and 1,2,or 3 with around 2 minutes left. Do you think Belichick would go for it, I think he would.

I hope he would. As Tom E. Curran has finally concluded Faulk actually made it. Maybe the next time, there'd be a t.o. available.

Ummmmmm, I hope so............

You have arguably the 2 best QB's that ever played the game. 1 plays for you, 1 plays for them....... you got a toasted D that is just DONE.

You are going to put the ball into one of those QB's hands. Either the other guys (against your toasted D), or yours, and ask him to make 1 play of 2 yards............ It's a no-brainer. He did too, the ref's just wanted Indy to win, again.

However, you need to follow it up with...... don't tackle Addai on the 1 with over a minute left to play. Let him get in so we can get the ball back in our guys had with a reasonable time to get down to FG range.

What if it happens again?

It happens every damn time the Pats play the Colts.... The Pats start strong, dominate, then give up a commanding lead in the second half.

Every ******* time... Since 2003.

If the opportunity is presented again, he would do it the same way over again, and I wold back him up on that just like I did this time. We don't seem to want to admit it, but deep down we all know, regardless of the length Peyton had to go, he was gonna get it done because that's what he lives for, crushing our spirits...

Hey, it's like the Red Sox in the AL East.

Amazing what 12 hours or so does. Now there seems to be alot of support for Belichick's call to go for it.

It didn't happen in '07 for both the Sox and the Pats.

There was a lot of support 12 hours ago... and he will try it again, 90% of the time Faulk can get two yards on a safety...

I don't think many of us actually thought the call was wrong, we were just upset that it A. didn't work, B. Looked like a First down, C. Was a seemingly bad ball spot, and D. We lost a 17 point lead in 5 minutes.

I don't think this situation will happen again (or at least with a 17 point lead). I really think BB will stop using a prevent defense and continue being aggressive in the end. If we did end up with a situation where it was 3rd and 2, I would hope he would call power-formation run and if it came up short, QB sneak or run again on 4th down. That pass attempt on 3rd and 2 killed us.

well, hopefully the team can man up and effin run it in

anything 3 yards or less you should be able to get, even if the other team is ready for it, and knows youre running you should be able to get 2 yards on the ground

BB should opt out of a prevent-defense late in the game especially because it runs counter to actually getting tired defensive players off the field as quickly as possible. That and the offense needs to have its foot the gas pedal all the time, just like in '07 - this game is another reminder that no lead is large enough. This will also help keep the defense off the field late in games.

strong running game helps finish games and rest our defense....the lack of if pressurizes our offense and defense both.

Actually, I thought that was the plan behind going for it on 4th. It seemed like if they weren't going to convert the 4th down play, they'd intentionally let the colts score on the next play to give Brady and Moss the last word. I think the Packers did something like this in the superbowl against the Broncos when it was Elway and Favre.

I dont understand why there is even a question, of course he goes for it. Why would BB coach this game different from a playoff game? You play every game to win and do what you think willl win the game for your team.

No, it was wrong.

4th and two on your own 28 with the other team needing a touchdown, you punt.

If they made it it's still not a good call. You don't throw away advantages of the lead and field position for an all or nothing toss of the dice.

If Manning could march down the field 70 yards any time he wanted to, why even show up? Just forfeit.
