Who plays RT when Light returns?

I just don't understand the analysis here? Do you really believe Kaczur got owned by Mathis? REALLY? We scored 34 points and Brady threw for over 300 yards. It's difficult for me to see how you can accept that as truth as well the idea that our RT is a turnstyle.

I guess we'll see what BB decides, but if I was a bettin' man, I'd lay money on NO change at RT.

So who is riding the pine: Light or Vollmer?

Status quo... for now. BB has been giving the rookies a lot more playing time this year, so I just dont see Vollmer riding the bench either. We will go back to the O-line that has given us so much success, but I think Vollmer will be rotated in at mostly RT to prove himself as a superior tackle to Kaczur. I really think Light still owns the LT spot... he has done nothing (yet) to lose it.

Saying Kaczur is a better G than Neal is a bit of a leap in logic as well. Next year may be a different scenario as far as the G situation goes. There is no way in hell Kaczur starts simply because of how much money he is making. Although, I think it would be a tremendous advantage having a guy with Kaczur 's ability as a backup OL/goalline TE/FB(?). Barring injury (knock on wood), by the playoffs our line should be Light, Mankins, Koppen, Neal, Vollmer.

Light will play Right Tackle and Kaczur will ride the pine.

Just like I said last month Vollmer new Left Tackle!!!!

Light will return to LT and Kaczur will play RT. Vollmer will see

some action at LT as a sub. After the 2009 season, Light will be

traded to K.C. or Denver for a draft pick.

Put Kaczur as a Blocking TE with 6 man super wall :)

I thought I was imagining this post at first... sounds right to me. Thank you for investing some sanity into this thread.

Another dumb post where your asking guy who change his stanz empahsis and first step to move from 1 side to another over night and also on leverage and body weight.
Its asking a life long right hander to switch to left. can be done yes but your not bad as hell.

I think Vollmer needs to play. He's getting better and better each week, and I thought he did a great job on Freeney. While he had help at some points, he was also by himself at others, and he did fine in both scenarios.

I kdon't know what happens with Kazcur and Light, but I think Vollmer is one of your top 5 linemen...so you should probably keep him out there somehow.

I think it's a no-brainer:

1. Vollmer is playing like a future all pro franchise LT, and is only going to get better. Light is on the downside of his career. Vollmer stays at LT.

2. I'm not a Kaczur hater, but I can't imagine anyone arguing that Light isn't a better tackle than Kaczur. Light moves to RT.

3. Kaczur and LeVoir give us tremendous depth at OT. We can also work out Kaczur at guard. I think he'd be a better RG than RT, and a 2010 line of Vollmer-Mankins-Koppen-Kaczur-Light could be quite nice, with LeVoir and Kaczur as the backup OTs and Ohrenberger, Connolly, Wendell and possibly Simmons (if we re-sign him) as backup guards. Neal has played well this year but he's aging and injury-prone.

*God
Kaczur is good. Yesterday was his first bad game and Mathis is no joke either.

Yeah, neither is Dwight Freeny and yet he got straight up owned by a true rookie from Houston VIA Germany. Vollmer looks like a vet already! I think Kaczur makes for decent depth and maybe a Guard but let's me honest he is an average at best starting Tackle. And I know Light and Koppen's horrible performances in Fluke Bowl 42 overshadowed Kaczur's short comings at tackle also.

Against most teams, Kaczur. If we play the Colts in the playoffs, though, then I wouldn't mind seeing Light at RT. There aren't many RTs in the league who can take on Mathis, so it's not exactly a strike against Kaczur. Luckily we'll have an extra LT.

Anyone who thinks Kaczur should be a starter needs their head examined. The guy flat out sucks. Gets abused way more than people realize. Thank god for Vollmer!

So when the Pats gave him a 4-year, $16M extension, they were figuring he was going to be a backup? What about LeVoir's extension? Did they figure he was going to be a 4th OT?

It's nothing like asking a right-handed batter to hit lefty. In fact, it is not uncommon at all for tackles to switch sides due to injury, either right to left or vice versa. Hell, it happens in the middle of games.

I don't know what they were thinking by giving him a 4 year extension. Like someone else said maybe move him to guard?

They just extended James Sanders and quickly moved him to backup when it was clear there was a superior player on the roster.

another vote for Kaczur to the bench and I don't care between Vollmer and Light who plays left and who plays right.

Second only to the inept 4th quarter showing by the defense, this was our biggest problem last night and absolutely needs fixing, no matter what contract Kaczur has signed.

EVERYONE REPEAT FIVE TIMES
Light is not a right tackle.
=====================================
I agree that Light is a reasonable option at LG. However, we already have a fine one in Mankins. I suspect that we considered trading him and didn't so that Light could be an option next year at guard.

I suspect that Light will play when he is healthy.

We could try VOllmer at RT, but that really makes little sense. It would be a new position. Vollmer si our starting LT for 2010. Kaczur is our starting RT for 2010.

If anything, I think Light moves to Guard. Why anyone believes he can just scoot on over to RT is beyond me.

They asked Bill about Lights future on WEEI a few minutes ago including if he envisioned any way to utilize Light differently and he said we'll see where it is when Light is ready to play but we aren't there yet and Vollmer is the LT... Sounds like it's his job to lose, much like it was Brady's to lose in 2001.

This might be good for Light. I've always felt he developed something of an attitude about his own and this lines performance over the last couple of seasons. And seemed somewhat complacent of late out of the gate. I think Bill's repetitive comments about run blocking over the last several weeks had finally resonated with Light and now having to battle to get his job back or someone elses might light a fire.
