But a couple of players on the punt team trickled on to the field, and offensive players who saw them started running off. The play forced the Patriots to call their final timeout, which would prevent them from challenging the spot after Kevin Faulk's catch on fourth down.

It makes sense as they got to 3rd and 2. Had it been 3rd and 10 they would have punted, I am sure. Of course they still should have run on 3rd and 2.

If he already KNEW he was going for it on 4rd down; they should have run it on 3rd down and at worse it would have been 4th and 1.
