Its got a lot of rookies, its got a lot of new players....who dont know BB that much

after going for it on that 4th and 2....how does this defense react?

BB is a great coach, but how does he keep this defense on his side? He will have to do something.

I hope he apologized to them after the game, and told them he wont be making that mistake again

Its not that i didn't agree with the move, I would also go for it on 4th down....I would have ran it on both 3rd and 4th down (instead of doing the shotgun) but thats beside the point

You lost the game b/c you did not show confidence in your defense.....how do you get them to play for you?

Sure they faced a top 5 QB of all time, even though....BB has to make amends

It's a shame he lost confidence in Gostkowski during that other game. I can't believe he cut Gostkowski right after that game and signed . . . oh, wait. . . .

Fine.......

It was not about the defense, it was about putting the ball in your best players hands, if he made the first down, which many believe he did, none of this idiocy would continue...

This sounds like Tom Jackson stuff...

Why would you apologize when you agree with the decision ?

Your thinking is a little quirky to me on this. The odds were in our favor of converting, that's really all there is to say or know.

How do they react? To the best of their ability. Seriously, this isn't the same team from '03-'04 where they would take it out on the next opponent they'd play. They're thin at DL and don't' have a pass rush.

Belichick already told the media what he said:

"I'm going to put you in the best position to win the game."

He chose to go with Brady instead of the D. Unless the defense thinks they can make a bigger play than Brady, then how can they argue with Belichick?

That's what it comes down to.

Thank god that Tedy Bruschi and Rodney Harrison are not coaches for this team.

Yes, I'm more worried about the injuries than anything else.

Correct. Essentially BB thought his offense could get a couple yards. If the D gets pouty about anything, they'll just have to grow up. I think BB will be able to navigate any emotional issues.

This is how I look at it:

BB said (implicitly) "Hey defense, you haven't played well enough for me to give you this responsibility".

The defense will respond by attempting to play well enough to get that responsibility. If there was a moment that would light the fire under the ass of the Pats' D, it's that moment.

These are the kinds of losses that create divisiveness in the locker room and ultimately can rip a franchise to pieces. This is such a young defense and it sends a wrong message to them. What do you tell them in the locker room? Perhaps this will be "that" game the team grows from, but I have my doubts.

I've been watching sports for a little over 20 years, and I have never seen a collapse of epic proportions like this. For those that watch other sports like the NBA, what happened last night reminded me a bit of Robert Horry's Game 5 winning shot against the Kings, who gave up a 20 point lead late in the 4th quarter. That single shot by Horry ensured a dynasty for the Lakers and sunk the Kings into oblivion.

I predict we'll win, but the defense is going to make Sanchez look a whole lot better than he is, just like we've done most of the year to the QBs not playing for the Titans and Bucs.

I forgot to add, when does Warren and Green come back? The Pats can ill afford to have this same line up if they meet the Colts or anybody else in the playoffs. In addition, Morris and Taylor's roles will be vital come playoff time.

Warren should be back any time, I think he just had a nagging ankle problem, most seem to think Green will be back for N.O. or very soon thereafter.

You should have seen the Celtics blow a 35 point lead during the NBA finals one year.

They came back and won the series.

I think that football is a game of adjustments. If you look at the performance from the 1st half to the 2nd half, it's pretty obvious that the Colts made adjustments on D and O that were simply better than the Pats in the second half.

BB's decision NOT to punt sounds to me like he didn't think he could make the adjustments on D to stop the Colts from scoring on a 70 yard drive in the 4th Q. Huh?

This is way overstated--they blew a big lead and lost the game. Plenty of time to recover.

You should have seen the divisiveness in the locker room when the Patriots cut a captain Lawyer Milloy. 31 point blow out loss to the Bills. Players "hating" their coach. That team went on to have an awful season after that I believe. :D

This has now happened 3 times in 9 games this season. WTF has happened to BB? I almost feel like he gets out coached every game going out of the half it seems. It's like we have struggled all season more in the second half than the first.

I mean one of the main reasons this loss bugs me is because Belichick and his staff lost to a whole new staff pretty much, in this fashion. That's just terrible.
