I need to vent.

Is there someone out there on waivers that we should pick up?

I used to view Maroney as inexpensive, taking up snaps so that others could rest. He is a ballerina, with some explosion. But goes down on first contact. (unless there is a pile that gets pushed). A near total bust of a 1st rounder.

But that fumble cost us the game. Come on.

Really? Close this thread please, we don't need another one.

Why do I bother...

Maroney didn't cost them the game.

You are dead wrong, and very obviously do not understand the game at all.

No it didn't. We got the ball back at the 6 3 plays later which doesn't happen if we get the touchdown, so it basically is cancelled out.

Looking back you can say he cost us the game but so did others..
We could do better at that position but I think we have to wait till the 2011 draft to address that.
BB cost us the game when it mattered most.

No, no we don't. But since this one is already at the top, I'll repost my response from the other Blame Maroney  thread.

Can't complain about his running this game, so let's just smack him for the fumble instead, even though he never really does that? Doesn't work for me. Of course, I was unhappy about it, but it was just one of the relatively few, IMO, offensive mistakes this game. The INT and no scoring in the 3rd were just as much to "blame" offensively. On the whole, the offense, including Maroney, did their jobs IMO. Ideally, even at 31-14, I wanted at least another 3 points before Indy got a chance to score again. This is PM the D was up against, after all. Didn't happen and there it is. But anyway, pin the loss on Maroney? Sorry, no can do.

How many fumbles in his career? What's his fumble rate? What's the league average fumble rate? Did the offense still score 34 points? Does every RB on the pats roster fumble at a higher rate than Maroney? You having NO IDEA why he is on this team, says more about YOU than Maroney.

will not miss you maroney please leave now. NO more defending this bust he is an absolute BUST!!!! but the blocking is bad, he doesn't get enough snaps, he's been injured... just stop no more defending him he is the alex smith of the patriots.

You act as if he is a fumbler...That's not his weakness..
I am no maroney fan but don't try to put this on him. he didn't help but you cant blame him for this loss.

umm, im sorry, how many times has maroney carried the ball in his career, and how many times has he fumbled?

no, that fumble did not cost us the game

NOT giving the rock to maroney on 3rd and 2 however prob did

Some of these people smh. I cant believe we are fans of the same team. Unbelievable.

I agree that fumble cost the Pats the game and I have proof.

From Brady's press conference:

Q: Tom, why prior the first play of your last possession there seems to be confusion in the huddle and forced you to burn a timeout. Can you explain?

A: Well, Laurence was so busy apologizing for dropping the ball that we didn't get a chance to talk about the play called.

From Kevin Faulk on WEEI today:

Q: Why did you bobble the ball?

A: Well, it was right to me, but then a vision of Maroney fumbling the ball flashed into my head and I lost my concentration.

From Vince Wilfork's interview on WEEI.

Q: The Pats had a 17 point lead in the fourth quarter and the Colts totally gassed you guys and you guys seemed to not have the answer for it.

A: Post tramatic stress disorder man. We were all shell shocked from Maroney dropping the ball that we just wanted to go home.

From Belichick's press conference today:

Q: Bill, now that several hours have passed, do you want to expand on why you went for it on 4th and 2 on your own 28 yard line?

A: Well, we really didn't have anything to lose. The game was over when Laurence dropped the ball in the third quarter. Yes, we went on to expand our lead in the first minute of the fourth quarter to 31-14, but it was clear that the Colts were going to easily overcome that 17 point deficit and there really wasn't any reason to play anymore anyway.

I went for it on that fourth down because I felt it would be a good drill for the offense so they can try to execute it in the future when the game wasn't over in the third quarter when we were up by 10 points. I think it was a valuable learning experience for the team and it didn't cost us anything since the game was over anyway.

I need to vent about some of the idiotic fans who post here but unfortunately Ian's mods enforce the rules that won't allow me to...

Best Maroney post of the year, Rob. :eat1:

LOL great quotes...!

OK KoolAid didnt single handedly lose the game.....in fact he didnt cost us the game. He just messed up.

However....:D
If you think he stinks and then he fumbles the kill shot touchdown....you think he is even worse than you thought!

Aww whats the point? if you cant see it now, you will never see it......
Let me try it this way.
We have the entire Section 239 on edge of their seats at last home game. Guiness for the whole section if/when Maroney breaks a tackle..... !

There is no payout! and basically no risk.

I want maroney gone, that fumble on the one was ridiculous. I have given him the benefit of the doubt for far too long, end of the year we need to drop him and get a decent running back who is under 30 years old. I am not saying he is the sole reason we lost but I rate it up there with the asante samuel dropped int.

I say we get rid of Brady as well

How about we trade that Raiders #1 in 2011 and maybe a 4th to get a RB we want if he falls below the Rd1/pick 20 range.
