The Greatness of the Patriots, at least as the Team of the Decade. The Colts look to beat our regular season records, which honestly I thought it would stand for a LONG long time...

Spy gate, the Colts owning us, Blown Super Bowl, and as someone else mentioned in another thread, im remembering the epic failures, rather than the great games of greatness which the pats seemed to overcome all odds.

I want to see some quality wins. Against the most hated team... Steelers, Broncos, and Colts...

We can't beat our rivals anymore...

THe Pats can still potentially finish this season with only 3 losses. They have 3 superbowls. A wheelbarrow full of records. Etc. etc.

It stings because that loss was epic and it JUST happened. I don't think it's fair to say that the Pats are any less of a contender for team of the decade. Just wait til you pound the Jets next week and feel better.

The wagon has come to a stop, please exit to your right...

Difficult to disagree with anything, the only upside is :

1) We are really close to winning these losses so it could change around in the playoffs

2) We still have a ton of draft picks so the last 5-6 years of Brady could still be good.

But RIGHT THIS SECOND the beautiful decade is going to end up being a good 4 year run and 5 years of frustration.

I agree every team has its ups and downs, with BB at the helm we will be there this year and next... I really wish some would exit, instead of all the half empty threads..

When the Colts win 22 in a row including the Superbowl I'll gladly crown their asses. Until then they can have all of our regular season records, they mean nothing.

Wow talk about over-reacting. We just went toe to toe with the best team in the league. In their house with officiating doing everything to keep them in the game.

This team has a great foundation of youth on defense. It's technically a rebuilding season for that side of the ball and we are I believe 2nd in the NFL in points allowed.

2006 and 2007 we are one play away from beating the eventual SB champs. This year you know we will be right there again.

We have a boatload of draft picks in the upcoming drafts including what should be a top 10 pick in 2011.

6-3 and all of a sudden the world is crumbling.. amazing.

Chill. I understand. We're all having a bad day here. Give it time. Get a little perspective. The sun will come up tomorrow. There will still be three Lombardi's in Foxboro.

The year is not over yet...But your right 5 years of frustration..

2005 - We could have beaten Denver, but we bet our selves..
2006 - a year that we should have won the super bowl, but we let deion branch go, because we had reche Caldwell
2007 a special season with a big black mark
2008 - The year with out Brady
2009- Who knows, but the wind is out of the sails today.. Barring a super collapse, we will be in the playoffs..

Yeah, we'll make the playoffs. We need something else, either a #3 WR, a running game or a pass rusher to step up then I think we could make a serious run in the playoffs.

The Patriots set the record for consecutive regular-season wins last year. Last I checked, Canton didn't set up an exhibit for that the way they did after the Pats won 21 in a row in 2003-2004.

Wow! Is it mid-February already? We have a long way to go before we make any assumptions.

Umm, I don't think that's why they let Branch go. . . .

As a longtime fan that saw some bad Patriot teams in the 70s, 80s, and 90s, all I ever wanted was a team that was competitive. Belichick has made the Patriots competitive. We are in it every year. Some fans have been spoiled by the 3 Super Bowl wins and have set the bar for this team really high. We are not in bad shape. The games we lost were all winnable. If you want to jump off the bandwagon, go ahead. I'm sure people in Detroit, Cleveland and KC wish their teams were in the position the Patriots are in now.

The local fans where I live (Detroit Lions) would gladly switch places with the Patriots' fans ;)

Really, it's only a regular season loss. We are just too spoiled with successes. For one thing, I am glad that Brady looked like his old self last night. I think we'll be fine.

For two years in a row, Pats lose to quality teams on the road. Why? Inability to rush passer and a failure in the power running game.
On D, they rely on scheming because they lack a pass rusher that can win one on one battles...but scheming late in a close game usually means sitting back and watching the other team catch passes in front of them...over and over again
On O, they have no faith in Maroney powering up the middle...so Brady passes which can slow the game clock with incompletions. Clearly Taylor is missed.
AS the self appointed GM of the Patriots, I'm drafting an impact pass rusher, no matter the cost in picks...and I'm drafting a power back...a load that can lean forward and get the tough yards. I would also find a guard that is a road grader, a guy that can be depended on to help the line run out the clock on the ground.

This is just a great point.

I will never forget this.. I make a point to remind myself every now and then that no matter what happens we will always be in a position to compete. We have a smart quarterback and a smart coach. 9 times out of 10, they will make good decisions, and really, that is all you can ask for.

The Colts can't break the regular season record for most wins.

The Pats beat the Broncos last year. The Steelers "can't beat their rivals" either - they've lost two to the Bengals - the best team inthe league right now.

I wouldn't give up just yet - Arizona went to the SB last year and almost won - after getting rocked at the Razor by 40 points at the end of the season.
