There are so many reasons why this game is of utmost important to win including....

1) Strenthening position in the division

2) Tiebreaker edge should the Pats catch the Colts who will still remain a game better even if Indy loses

3) To continue to have a shot at homefield advantage if not #1 then #2,a loss here severely diminishes that and the team would most likely be shooting for #3 or #4 seed.

4) We need to win to keep the NFL regular season records win streak as 1 and 2 for NE,We don't want Indy to slip between

5) This is one not many know.....As of this week the Pats and Colts are DEADLOCKED at 109 wins in the 2000s,a loss by the Pats would put them behind by one and having to play catch up..we can't have the Colts have more wins in a decade if this team is going to officially be crowned team of the decade, right?

I, personally, could not possibly care less about regular season wins for the decade. It does not matter to me. When people look back at the team of the 2000's, they will think of the Pats because of our three Super Bowl wins (four this year :D). They're not going to say, "gee, Indy has more regular season wins but only one Super Bowl". Let's just win this game to help strengthen our position for the playoffs and to beat a foe.

Good catch, though.

I'm in for the 1st 3. Don't care about the last couple. Just beat the Colts and tip the balance of excellence back to us.

Actually, per espn, the pats have 108 wins. Just sayin.

Does that massive chip on your shoulder ever make you sink to the bottom when you go swimming?

and as per universal knowledge, the colts have 1 super bowl. just sayin.

Record for wins in a decade is the 49ers at 113 (80's-90's). That stands to be broken by both the Colts and Pats..

but it'd be nice to See the pats come out on top in yet another category. :)

If only the post season was as important as the regular season.

Pats are at 109, ESPN is wrong as usual....If you want to do a complete check go ahead

6 this year

That adds up to 108

Yes. :D

Besides, if you factor in playoff wins (which should be included since they are the most important games), the Pats are clearly ahead.

I guess we'll just have to settle for 2 this decade. ;)

what do the steelers have to do with this?

the fact that we didn't have brady for an entire season and had Bledsoe in 2000 puts us over the top. They had peyton for just about every game this decade.

Whats the post-season count?

I will post 'updated now' once the score is final and NE wins :snob:

Counting postseason, it would be 122 for the Pats (14-3) and 116 for the Colts (7-7).

I do not get why Postseason is excluded?

It is everything! Just to get there is an accomplishment.... but to go 14-3 :)

that is Most Impressive..... since every team is a legit contender when in the playoffs. Thec NFL Playoffs brings the best together for a winner take all scenario. This is when football matters.

Oh, man, not the 'decade' thing again. The first year of the decade ends in 1. There is no year "0" in the Gregorian calendar.

The Patriots are the winningest team of the decade.

So you think the decade of the 80's does not include 1980 but does include 1990?
