Why do you hate the Colts?

Because of all the Manning hype. Especially here in Tennessee, all you ever hear is how much better he is than Brady. In addition, whenever the Titans are mediocre (i.e. 2-7) it seems that a vast majority of fans make the migration towards Indianapolis.

I cringe at the Manning Face and his penchant for tossing his players under the bus when plans 'oft gang aglee'.

Manning said once that his offensive line did not block well, and all of a sudden he has a penchant for it? Wow, it's amazing how fans of other teams can take one small incident, (that was blown out of proportion by the media) and turn it into a life long thing. That would be like me saying the pats have a penchant for cheating, just because they got caught one time. Give it a rest guys. But I guess you guys need reasons to hate, so you reach for anything.

I don't hate 'em. I respect the heck out of Manning, especially since the start of '05. He went from a pansy who wilted when the heat was on and a stereotypical dome QB who cannot weather the elements in January to a ferocious competitor who bounces back from a beating and can bring his game anytime anywhere around then. Far cry from his 2003/2004 reputation. As for Polian, Dungy and others, I never put too much weight on anything they said that would give me cause to get riled up.

I hate that they've had the Pats' number for the most part these last few years, but c'est la vie. That will change Sunday, I'm very confident of that.

Regards,
Chris

Just saw this, I don't Hate the Pats, I HATE THE CHARGERS :)

I don't like the way Manning seems to throw teammates under the bus, but I admit he is a great QB.

Show me cold hard examples, or S.T.F.U. (besides the one time he said his O-line didn't block well)

Bill PoliOn

Bob Sanders, the most overrated player in NFL history

Bill PoliOn

Thieves in the night - The Irsays!

Bill PoliOn

Piped in crowd noise

Goober QB more interested in stats than rings

Indianapolis = Jacksonville without palm trees

I hate the Colts because they are jealous of the Patriot Dynasty.

I hate the Colts b/c even w/ all the WR weapons of the past..... they could never get it done more than once and their fan base thinks their team is comparable to the Patriot Dynasty,

-What a joke....

To the jealous COLT fans lurking .... know this

I do hate the Colts, for many reasons. Among them:

* Dungy's sanctimonious way of being (thinly veiled passive-aggressive personality harboring deep emotional issues). Yeah, he's not there anymore, but his stamp on the team remains.

* Polian's manipulation of the Competition Committee legislating anti-Patriots rule changes.

* The Irsay family carpetbagging the Colts franchise from Baltimore. At the very least they should have re-named the team and let Baltimore keep its beloved Colts legacy.

* Indoor stadium. My question is: why?

* Bush league division champ banners hanging from the rafters.

* I absolutely CANNOT STAND the sound of their radio play-by-play announcer's voice. Would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard amplified x 100.

* Manning throwing teammates/coaches under the bus.

As some here have stated, I don't hate the Colts either. I did a few years ago, and then I was just like "Why?" I think, honestly, it had a lot to do with their defeat of the Pats and then winning the SB (oddly enough). I like Dungy, I like Manning. I do think Sanders is overrated, as I do Freeney, but I doubt I would think that if I was a Colts fan. The one thing I really hate associated with them is Polian, he does seem like a prick. But that's it.

I think the Colts fans that come here consistently (workhorse and RyantheColtsFan) are knowledgable guys who really just like good football discussion. To me, Jets fans are wayyyyyyyyyy worse.

It's difficult not to respect them. At least they won their Super Bowl by going through the Pats, unlike the Steelers who can only get there without the Pats in the picture. Manning is a great QB, and they breed WRs like the Broncos used to breed RBs.

The reasons I hate them have already been articulated better by others here: Bill Polian, squeaky clean image, dome-team, etc.

Anyone know when the NFL is going to have the balls to schedule a regular season game between the Pats-Colts in Foxboro again?

I hate the Colts because everywhere I turn I'm surrounded by Colts fans, I can't drive down the street without being reminded of them!

Everywhere I go there are Colts license plates, t-shirts, Satan Manning jerseys and his big goober face is plastered all over billboards!

I can't put on the TV without Manning commercials and the local newscasters just go on and on about them constantly!

Of course I should have realized this was going to happen when I moved to Indiana in March......

/coaches under the bus.

This was it for me. I grew up a Baltimore Colts fan and Bob irsay was a true louse. But now he's dead and Jimmy Irsay seems like a decent guy. So now I don't hate them but I still hope for them to lose every game. Which doesn't work out so well for me.

Sadly we have our HarkDawg's too.

Makes perfect sense to me.

It's one thing to "hate" a team as a rival. It's another to despise/hate a team because of how they are being.

I used to truly hate Miami. But (with the exception of Joey Porter, who is an ass) I have to respect what they have done in the past 2 years. I loved watching them beat the Jets twice this year, and I think the Wildcat has brought a lot of fun and excitement to the NFL. Parcells, Ireland and Sparano have brought a lot of experience and class to an organization that was a mess. So I "hate" them as a division rival, but right now I don't really hate them like I used to.

The Colts have been the only organization other than the Pats to consistently win year in and year out this decade. Not a single down year. Even the Steelers had some bad years. It's hard to disrespect that kind of accomplishment.

So I "hate" the Colts as one of our biggest rivals to being the unparalleled dominant team of the decade, but I don't really hate them. And if I were a Colts fan I'd probably love a lot of things that annoy me about them.

For the record, some of our own fans drive me nuts, too.

It's not that one incident.

Manning Face observers over the years have noticed Peyton's apoleptic fits at players on the offense when The One gets an INT and other disasterous events occur.

Screaming match with Jeff Saturday last year

Lots of other times he yells at WRs

no INT is ever his fault- he stares somebody down for it

going way back he clashed with Jim Mora Sr.

In general there is too much of this look:

Don't forget this past offseason when he complained that nobody was running the team and the coaches weren't coaching.

For some reason, they are just always the beloved underdogs of the NFL. I have absolutely no idea why. It's probably because they have weak divisional opponents who have really weak fanbases. You don't see a lot of Titans, Texans, or Jaguars fans in the media, or on the internet. What I hate most is the constant misconceptions that people have made about them since Peyton Manning arrived. They have no defense. Huh? Their defense is normally very good... in fact there are always 52 players that hardly get mentioned.

I hate Bill Polian. No writeup needed. Plain and simply, the NFL should not have members of the competition committee be active parties. They should be retired or have no interest in the league. Put in coaches that are inactive right now, like Shannahan, Holmgren, Cowher, or Gruden. Use Madden. If they return to the league just replace him. Nothing wrong with new eyes and ears every season.

Mike Vanderjagt. But then again, the Colts hated him too.

Adam Vinatieri will just never look right in a Colts uniform, agreed upon by everyone. It's like Wade Boggs playing for the Yankees.

I hated the crappy little RCA Dome and the fake crowd noise, the "holier-than-thou" Dungy and his "Barry Bonds" comment, which I'm sure he knew in his honest solitude was a cheap shot. In the wake of Spygate, not only were the Jets reported by Newsweek to have engaged in the same type of taping, but when teams were asked about which teams were the most notorious, the Colts came up more than a few times.

I really hated the way Dungy said after the Super Bowl that he is the first Christian coach to win it all. Please do not mix religion with sports. Do that in your own time. Could you see Robert Kraft boasting that he was the first Jewish owner to win a championship? Leave that stuff for your motivational speeches at churches or synagogues. I highly doubt he was the first Christian coach to win it all. 90% of the country is Christian. More like, he was the first coach to proclaim how religious and righteous he was.

Most of all, I hate Marvin Harrison. What a dirtbag gang banger who basically played for almost 15 years with a shining white line generated by every network. This guy is absolute human scum who tried to shoot someone, attacked some kids at the pro bowl, and attacked a security guard at a Jets game. Yet for some reason, because he plays on the quiet "little engine that could" called the Colts, he was always considered to be a great guy. There was no media fallout when the story broke last year about his "dark side," but Randy Moss is treated like a career criminal for incidents that were harmless in comparison.

I know the real story about Peyton Manning and Tennessee with the sports trainer and the lawsuit. My dad used to work with a lady that went to UT and was friends with this woman... and I heard about this WAY before Manning reached his superstardom, and WAY before I had any reason to care about Manning. Honestly, I don't even care. He was obviously young and immature and is a good guy now... but basically his powerful daddy settled with the trainer by paying her off, and unlike the hundreds of other pro athletes, and millions of non-elite men and women around the world, whose reputations are ruined by mistakes, Peyton got out of this one because of his family name. Please don't ask me anything else about this because I will not say anything else... except that, in case you are wondering, Peyton did NOT rape her or force her to do anything. I have heard much, much worse things, but what really happened was suppressed through a monetary settlement.

That said, I do respect the Colts. Overall they are a great organization with incredible talent and management. For my money, Bill Polian is the best talent evaluator in the league and Peyton Manning might be the second greatest quarterback of all-time. I just don't like the image of sainthood they garner from everyone.

It's all out there in the public record if you google the victim, Jamie Anne Naughwright. Her testimony and that of an eyewitness named Malcomb Sexton says Peyton basically sat on her face against her will. Within hours she reported it to the campus sexual assault center. Since she was accusing a beloved figure she was run out of town with death threats and hate. She settled a civil suit and never pressed criminal charges but collected 6 figures from both Manning and Tennessee. Later Peyton pooh-poohed the incident in a book as a "mooning" so she sued again. The judge wouldn't throw the case out, and once again Peyton settled.

I'd put up a poll but many people have different reasons to hate the Colts.
.....
Why do you hate the Colts?

because Bill Polian cheats and gets away with it every week. He owns the comp comittee. The overlord chanced rules to prevent physical cb play to benefit his team, and colts getting phantom PI calls, pipe in noises.... the list goes on.
