re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

Yeah, there's a tiny chance they'll pick the 1 in a million guy who can turn them around immediately but most likely it'll be more flailing and spinning around.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

Ummm, I want them to keep Cable.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

i think i would put more trust in my 18 yr old sister running that franchise than mr. davis.....honestly

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

The great news for us is that Al Davis is still the owner. As long as he's running the show, we are in good shape for that pick!

As long as Davis is in charge, the incompetence will continue, because he is effectively the GM.

But if they bring in a new coach and personnel, then that's a whole new system the players have to learn. I'd rather have that than the stability that Cable is building now.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

Not sure if this is good or bad.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

Continuity, in turns of coaches, could only be bad news. Therefore, I don't see it as a bad thing if Tom Cable is fired. I would suspect it would be a story that lingers in the locker room

Most importantly, we must pray from the health of Al Davis.

As long as he is able to breathe, he will pull the Raiders into the ground as he has done year after year. As long as his son isn't left in charge and, as suspected, would turn around and hire a "real" GM.

Also, they will still have overpaid players like Javon Walker, Tommy Kelly and the like to bring them down. Toss in JaMostlly Worthless at QB and the Pats are looking good on the trade.

I never thought I'd see stability associated with Cable :p

But I understand your point. A new guy would erase whatever they've built there, and quite frankly, anyone stupid enough to take the job isn't going to be a threat to do well.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

Is anyone kind of worried? What if its a top 5 pick a TOP 3 pick, or #1

How we suppose to pay that insane salary..

The point is getting a 2011 draft pick rather than one in 2010 is that hopefully there will be a rookie wage scale by then which will curb the wild contracts given top ten picks...

read some stuff yesterday, and it will mostly effect picks after #10.... no matter what this is great capital and some team will want a low pick...

In a perfect world, a rookie salary cap is implemented (possible), the Raiders finish in the bottom 3 (very possible) and there's a defensive superstar in waiting that BB wants (just drooling, baby).
Can you imagine, BB getting the TFB of Defense.

Oh dear. I'd like to see another LT back there.

That would be SWEET. Only thing I am concerned of is having 2 second round picks (a good concern;)

We had a quantity draft last year and so far struck GOLD with so many players contributing and being part of the future.

My point is, if we have a quantity draft this year, I think it would be wasted picks because they would not make the team.

For the 2010 draft, I say we trade up for a QUALITY draft with few players. This team can afford to do that with the talent and depth.

Say, trade a 2nd and a 3rd for another late 1st round pick. Draft 2 good first round talents, and use the other 2nd to gamble on Tebow.

re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

As long as Jamarcus is still there starting QB, the Pats should be OK. Now I think any new coach is oing to ****** Jamarcus' "progress" even more, becuase it would be yet another new offensive system for him to learn.

But they have a decent amount of talent on defense and if Mr, Burns actually hires a defensive minded coach who installs a run only offense with McFadden, they could easily become a .500 team in a very medicore division.

Sooner or later, they can not keep picking in the top 5, and not end up with some very good players (even if it is by accident).

Lets all pray for Al Davis' good health over the next year or so!

Re: MSNBC Reporting Oakland Wants To Fire Cable

MSNBC is reporting that Al Davis wants to fire another one of his head coach?!? Why not report that the sun rises in the east. I think more people will be shocked by that news than Al Davis wanting to fire his head coach.
