Based on what I've seen, Henne is going to be the best of that bunch. I see this guy being a solid NFL player for awhile. He is throwing to a bunch of garbage receivers, and the only guy that can get open is Ted Ginn; unfortunately he can't catch the ball. He has good mechanics and makes good decisions. He doesn't force the ball into coverage and generally seems to understand the offense. More than anything he looks focused and unemotional, very in control of the team and the huddle. He will probably get better as the Dolphins reduce the Wildcat and other gimmicks in their offense as they pick up WR talent in the future. Their tricks are basically a way of saying "we have no receivers, so we'll use our strengths to our advantage."

Sanchez looks to me like he might be pretty good, but I don't see this guy as coming close to his 3rd overall pick billing. His body language and comments suggest that he's a really good guy, probably a likeable person, but probably too sensitive to play quarterback in New York. He seems to play with a lot of emotion, which is not always good. I could see this guy crashing and burning... typical of the Jets, getting off to that hot start may have been the worst thing for a rookie quarterback who suddenly has big expectations.

Edwards is on his way out. Buffalo will probably clean house soon, and I don't think many new GMs would want to build their franchise around a guy who probably won't be good enough. Edwards wrote his own pink slip when he texted his GM and asked him to try and get TO. What QB in his right mind would want TO on the team? I just don't see Edwards as a guy who has the skills to take you to the next level, and probably not even the playoffs. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like he throws a lot of weak wobblers.

Who do you guys think will be the best of the 3?

Sanchez
Henne
Edwards

I'm more impressed with Henne at this point, but you have to keep in mind he has a year of experience in the NFL on Sanchez. It can make a big difference, as it did for TB.

That said, Sanchez has a lot of potential. He has good poise and he's usually pretty accurate. He should get a lot better with more experience.

I really like Henne though. Reminds me a little bit of Peyton. He has much better arm strength than Sanchez, as well.

Edwards has no future as a starter in the NFL.

Parcells is no idiot ... if Henne was that good the team would not have drafted Pat White and would not be spending so much time in the wildcat. Hanne may be a bit above average at best is my opinion.

Henne by a mile

after that it's splitting hairs

They run the wildcat because they have no playmakers at receiver. As someone pointed out above, the one guy they have that can get open can't catch. Henne has the arm, the poise, the size, and the decision making ability to be a stud in the league.

Sanchez will be a solid QB, not a superstar and maybe a borderline star in his own right(without the New York Media assis).

Henne looks like he might be Miami's QB for the next few years before his talent starts to erode or he gets mauled by defenses...one bad injury may derail his career from starter on an up and coming team to perennial backup QB.

Edwards is on his way out of the league...I give him another year or two in Buffalo then another year or two after as a backup QB before he is playing in the UFL or CFL or worse Arena League.

If your argument made the best sense, the Dolphins should have drafted a receiver in round 2, instead of drafting another QB, don't you think?

Well, we did draft WRs in round 3 and round 4...

There was only one WR taken after the Pat White pick in the 2nd round, and that was Massaquoi... who has had his fair share of drops as well.

But to answer your question... Miami did try to invest in the WR position in this years draft...

Can you name a team with a worse WR corps than Miami? It'd be tough. We have one of, if not the worst, WR corps in the league...

Are you sure Pat White was even drafted to play QB?

The dolphins run so much wildcat because the two best players on their team are runningbacks.

But Pat White was not drafted to be our QB? Clearly he was drafted for the Wildcat package...

Henne is our QB... not Pat White...

As far as the original question goes... I'd like to think Henne will be the best? So far, hes shown a lot of toughness and poise. Faced some of the most complex defenses in the league against Rex Ryan's scheme twice (2nd most blitzing team in the league), Greg Williams' scheme(#1 in blitzes this year), and of course Belichick's scheme. And he has looked calm in the face of all of those blitzes and coverage disguises.

Trent Edwards shouldnt even be in this conversation. He is horrible, and probably wont even be on the Bills next year.

It comes down to Henne and Sanchez. I may be a homer, but I'm going with Henne...

Sanchez by a mile.

Henne is like a young Patrick Ramsey.

I watched this kid a lot in college, and he will blow it at crucial moments. Sanchez has surprised me. He looks better than I thought he'd be.

Henne is the guy you hand the reigns to for 3 years before deciding you made a mistake.

I really like what I've seen of Henne so far. For me he is the one most certain to develop into a consistent top QB.

I'm still not sold on Sanchez, he has a great arm but he does make bad decisions. He has all the tools to be a stud but the key for him is decision making. If he can improve that he will be the best of the bunch.

Edwards is too injury prone for a start. I don't rate him that highly either.

Sanchez will be an All-Pro for years to come.

Sanchez
Henne
Edwards

That. Sanchez is the best of the bunch and it's not really that close. I think Henne may develop into a pretty good QB, but Edwards just sucks.

Henne and its not even close...Edwards has had a big advantage in the league being in a few years earlier than the other two and still has not produced,Sanchez could be a 3 game wonder and then an average QB like he has been lately.

I think Henne could be the best, but not if the Dolphins don't stop the Wildcat crap. Personally, I think it is a hinderance to his progress by taking him off the field for 10-20 plays a game. But he seems more ahead of Sanchez at this point.

If I am a Jets fan, I am worried about Sanchez's lack of pocket presense and his inability to check off a lot reads in many cases. This is where he definitely lost for leaving school early. These skills cannot always be taught and it is far easier to learn these skills when you develop them in college where the speed of the game is slower. It is far tougher to learn these skills at the NFL level, but not impossible. The guy has a lot of upside (more than either Henne or Edwards), but lacks skills that he may never learn. Pocket awarness and ability to check down reads is part instinct, part experience, and part skill.

Edwards has been starting for several years. He basically is what he is. He isn't going to get much better than he is now.

Agree and disagree...

I think eventually, it could hinder him if he becomes a legit Pro Bowl QB. But if we have that kind of caliber QB, we shouldnt be running the Wildcat.

I think there are some strong benefits to running it for a young QB. Mainly b/c for a play or 2 during a drive, it allows him to meet w/ the coaches and talk to them about what hes seeing out there during the drive, and what the defense is throwing at him. When he comes back in, he has a better grasp of what the defense is doing b/c of that time he gets. I think the little "breaks" during the drive actually help him as a young QB. Plus, it usually is putting us in good down and distance to make his conversions easier.

I dont think you honestly lose too much "rhythm" coming out for some running plays when all you would be doing if you were on the field is handing the ball off to a RB.

Personally, I think it robs him of being able to get into a rhythm in many cases which will hinder his comfort level and confidence. It also robs him of situational experience. Being a successful NFL QB is being able to get into a rhythm and commanding long successful drives also knowing what to do in every situation. Taking him off the field in key situations will rob him of that experience.

It probably won't stop him from hitting his maximum potential, but it could hurt him by not being prepared for a certain situation in a key game to holding him from hitting his maximum potential for months or even years depending how much it holds them back.

I do think it is in the Dolphins' best interest the second they drop out of serious playoff contention to abandon the Wildcat all together(assuming they do drop out of playoff contention). Two more losses and they should abandon the Wildcat.
