Tate and LeVoir added to roster...

One thing that has to be said is that Tate must have impressed the coaches a lot for him to make the roster, considering he's not played a down due to his knee injury.

Or maybe being named Brandon had something to do with it!!

What luxury? Last year the Pats had at least FIVE players—other than Gostkowski, Hanson, and Paxton—who played the majority of their snaps on STs.

The luxury of keeping 6 Safeties in a Defensive Backfield that totals 11.

Name the experienced professional WR,who is a Free Agent, that they should sign.......waiting.....

BTW,to cut Slater ot Lockett for a FB or another RB is ludicrous......still waiting for that name????

Matt Jones, DJ Hackett & Ronald Curry, to name 3 off the top of my head.

No problem! We can just move their names to the WR column, give them the exact same number of snaps at WR as they've been getting at safety, then the roster is balanced. ;)

I haven't seen enough of Lockett, but Slater is an absolute demon on ST coverage. His absence was felt when he was injured. He's no player #53, IMO.

The patriots have a 53-man roster including the inactives
a) the four injured players (Taylor, Morris, Edelman and Light)
b) the three developmental players (Ohrnberger, Brace and Wheatly)
c) and Simmons

d) Tate and LeVoir have roster spots.
e) Lockett was active instead of Simmons. Why do you think Lockett is history?
f) I agree that Lockett is near the bottom, but Belichick may think him better than anyone out there. Belichick likes having depth on special teams.

.Lockett is history.

I think the Pats this year have been making more of an effort to get the rookies on the field for experience and morale purposes. Probably the most obvious example is Hoyer, whose gotten some real looks under his belt when previously Tom Brady would still be in the game working as a handoff machine. But they were also sending in/making roles for guys like Vollmer, Chung and Butler earlier in the season before they got more regular playing time. Usually you wouldn't see these guys on anything but special teams until week 8 or so.

I think that's why they activated Tate and had him run nothing but post routes and end-arounds going into the bye instead of seeing if another vet WR could pick up the offense. Tate getting worked in will probably pay more dividends in the future.

Given that viewpoint, Brace's absense from the gameday roster speaks volumes.
My take...after a great preseason he ran over Belichick's dog in front of his kids.

(side note: my brother's wife actually did this, ran over his company's CEO's dog in their driveway)

YOur post just reminded me that our beautiful 5 and 2 team heading into the bye, will be getting Light, Morris, Taylor, and Edelman back this year. Tate will get worked into the offense more. It's all good. It better be because we have a tough schedule. :)
