to make a miracle catch...Asante Samuel blew his assignment. Ouch.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

Asante has tire tracks all over him, from the bus he got thrown under.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

painful to watch that. we were a split second form Mike Cary blowing the whistle.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

I shut off the TV.

I mean, really, are we going to be subjected to that BS everytime Eli Manning plays a prime time game?

Don't answer that.

Glad I didn't. It would be like watching video of my wife cheating on me - I'd rather not see it.

The goggles, they do nothing!

i didn't see the interview, but i'll take everything with a grain of salt if it comes from the guy who was closest to the play and couldn't dislodge the ball...

It comes from the tape as well as the analysts.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

no....i would never watch a program with olbermann on it

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

Yeah.. after seeing the side view of the play it was apparent that Samuel gave up on it and blew the coverage. That said, Harrison should have been able to knock that ball out, we should have had Eli sacked before any of it occurred, and every time this topic comes up I want to beat my head off the wall.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

Ugh, long ago I stopped watching that farce of an NFL recap show because of that smug f#ck. (I mean Keith, not Coach Dungy)

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

Didn't we already know or at least suspect this? I could have sworn this board discussed the "who was covering Tyree?" angle a bunch of times.

Rodney don't lie, and he didn't need to as it was pretty apparent what happened. They were in man, Asante had him tight and he abandoned him just as Eli emerged from the scrum anticipating he might do better freelancing since his guy wasn't a very significant target on the season. Rodney was where he was supposed to be and that was just close enough to close on Tyree as the ball was thrown and almost break up the pass that made Eli a media darling. Lots of things went wrong that night, but Asante blew three changes to make all that immaterial.

It got argued, this was the smoking gun. Not just the video, either, but Rodney acknowledging that Asante did not maintain discipline and DO HIS JOB.

He never talks politics, he's a funny guy. But then, I guess to be fair I wouldn't listen to Limbaugh talk about QBS either.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

I just hope we win at least one more SB with Brady at QB

LOL! Very funny.

Re: Anybody watching Dungy and Rodney telestrate how Tyree was open...

Interesting viewpoint, corroborates what I thought watching the game.
But since I have assiduously avoided this topic since that awful day last February, I can only say BURN IN HELL Mo for bringing this to my attention again.

More like the bus he ran away from.

He lost his man in single coverage. Rodney tried to step in lieu of his abscence.

Asante's bad, not Rodney's. Alot of other things could have went differrent in that game apart from that play to get us a win. Samuel doesn't deserve all the blame, but he deserve's some.

He does.
A great team loss. Coaches too.
