Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this weekend

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

My best bet this week is Dallas -4 against Atlanta - Dallas is in a must win situation to stay alive in the East and for Wade to keep his job from a pissed off Jerry Jones and it looks as if Ware is getting healthier which will help the non existent pass rush they have,I think the Cowboys will run Barber and Jones wild on the poor Falcons run defense and Romo will hit a couple of good passes.

Good Luck to you in your bets PFS74!!

Here's another good stat for your pick of the week--favoring Dallas.

ATL is playing 2 consectutive games against teams coming off byes. The last team to win 2 games against teams coming off byes was SD (2004). ATL surely has their work cut out for them. I'm considering DAL also.

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

Patriots need to win the next 6 games if they want to be a division leader. I expect us to win this Sunday game by 2 TDs because i don't like to see us win a close game.

PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT are the key words.

The Pats will need to win probably 10 games to win this division. After the next six games if they win, the Pats would be 10-2. They don't need to win the next six games especially since the last month of the season is not particularly tough. They can afford a loss or two.

If they do lose a game or two I hope the game they lose is an NFC opponent such as the team we expect will beat them anyways...New Orleans

With 2 losses in the AFC already every AFC game is important to gain tiebreaker advantages - Look at Miami and NE last season to see what a difference one AFC advantage tiebreaker can mean.

From what I heard about the Jets' practice this week, I don't know if I would bet on them winning. I read on one of the Jets board that Kerry Rhodes stated on a local radio station that the Jets players were all laughing in practice and that the practice was an upbeat practice. Of course Jets fans praised them for not dwelling on the loss, but I take it as Rex Ryan not getting "it".

If the Pats suffered an embarrassing loss and it being the third loss in a row, do you really think anyone on the team would even think about even cracking a smirk during the practice? Do you think Belichick would have an upbeat practice after losing to a team with one win and playing a back up QB from Harvard for most of the game? After turning the ball over 6 times?

The more I see Rex Ryan, the more I think the guy doesn't get the proverbial "IT". There is a reason why Super Bowl winning coaches like Belichick, Parcells, Cowher, Gibbs, etc. would not allow upbeat practices after a loss like that and they would hold players accountable (Ryan made it like it was his fault Sanchez threw five picks in the media this week).

I think the Giants have motivated the Raiders. They are surprisingly focused (at least they were last weekend). They look to be the ones who are more prepared for this weekend.

EDIT: It was Leon Washington who talked about laughing at practice (actually he was talking about dancing around and trying to have some fun warming up) and when the interviewer reacted to dancing, he brushed off the loss as the team beating themselves rather than the Bills beating them as if that makes it not a big deal. That would infuriate Belichick more than a better team just outplaying the Pats. No way would Belichick allow such a loose practice after three losses in a row especially to a lesser team where stupid mistakes cost them the game.

I agree with you. I hope they don't lose anymore games all year. I think they can lose one, maybe two more and still have an excellent shot at a playoff bye or even HFA. Anymore than that and they could be in trouble in the AFC playoff seeding race. I do hope if we do lose that they come to either NO or Carolina.

We need to beat NO to see what kind of team we really have. I think we can do it, too.

As I had stated earlier in this thread,Carolina 17-14 over Buffalo which means the Bills and take the points - I think the Panthers will win but how can you lay 7 points for a team that absolutely STRUGGLED to beat Tampa Bay and not to mention that the Bills has slowly gotten healthier,Delhomme is a funny QB to try to figure out, sometimes Jake looks like the best in the league and other times he is as flat as a pancake.

Yeah, but the Bills are going with a QB who will be starting his first game...TO can't be happy about playing catch with a Hahvahd lad...the Panthers are playing at home...i'm thinking of taking the panthers, but might just flip a coin...

As far as Cincy and the Bengals I agree with the Bears,I think Cincy will drop another as it seems once they start looking good they go back to thier old ways and I do think Cutler is going to get this Bears offense to a top level by the latter part of the season,Chicago and GB will make Minny work to win that division.

Agreed...this is almost a must-win for the Bears...i don't see them losing this game...1.5 points dogs on the road...gotta take em

I usually stay away from the Pats when they are a double digit favorite,2 consecutive routs of 14 or more points in a row is not a common thing anymore,Many times the Pats play down to the level of their opponent and score just enough to win but then again TB could be the worst team in the league - I would not touch that line either way.

i think the pats tasted blood for the first time last week and will be out for more this week...plus, they know they're heading for the bye...i'm sticking with the pick...

disagree...it's scary because the 'boys are coming off a bye, but i've been burned every time i thought they just had to win this season...their run defense is shaky, so turner and/or norwood should have good games...i like ryan throwing to gonzalez and white into their secondary too...

Good Luck to you in your bets PFS74!!

With losses to New Orl and Indy, we could still have the division at hand by beating the NYJ and sweeping MIA. That would add 3 more wins in the AFCE and make us 4-1 in the division, with the lone game left being at BUF. 5-1 in the division is quite possible, 4-2 at the worst if a loss occurs in one of the MIA games or the NYJ game.

This team could very well go 12-4 even if it were to go 3-2 in the 5 game stretch coming up after the bye, as we should be able to go 4-0 down the stretch in typical Belichickian fashion. I think we can indeed beat New Orl, but am personally worried about Indy the most. I have been pretty scared of them since seeing MIA hold the ball for 46 minutes TOP, only to see Manning march them up/down the field with such precision.

You guys are putting way too much stock in the Jets beating Oakland. New York hasn't performed well out there in a very long time and a rookie quarterback plus a reeling defense with a head coach that is more suited to be a coordinator don't give me much confidence that that is going to change. All three teams in the AFC East should lose this weekend. Buffalo and Carolina will be a toss up because both teams are horrible. I really think the Jets will lose in Oakland. As for Miami, they have the best chance of the rest of the AFCE teams to pull off an upset win this weekend but I personally don't think it's going to happen. New Orleans looks too strong.

GO Raiders, Go Raiders!

( Did I just type what I think I typed? ) GULP!

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

I have every confidence in the Raiders beating the Jets. I think that Seymour is doing what he can to fire up their locker room and instill a better, if not winning, spirit in them. Even if ol '93 is doing it just for himself, every win over the Jets is good for New England. :D

Remember that you said I was wrong when I said last week before the games that the Saints would beat the Giants by 10-14 points - remember that? ;)

I would love to see all the other AFC East teams lose this weekend. This might be one situation where Richard Seymour can really help us out, as he can give some intelligence to the Raiders on the JETS (although he has never played against Sanchez and query whether the Raiders can comprehend any "intelligence"!). In fact, I think the Raiders have a decent shot as they buried Donovan McNabb last week, and recently Sanchez has shown he is easily rattled in the pocket. If they can get a good pass rush on, who knows?

I agree with the poster that said Miami is our biggest threat. I am nervous about that wildcat. At least their is some "tape" on it this year before we play them. If Miami could lose their next two games, that would be great!

We have to take care of business this weekend across the pond, but boy, wouldn't it be great if we gained another game on everybody this weekend?

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

What's the point of winning the division? The Jets won the superbowl in week 2.

...and, what's more, their QB and HC were inducted into Canton! We just can't compete with a juggernaut like that!

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

I think Oakland and Miami will win. I have no idea regarding Buffalo and Carolina. That depends on how many turnovers Jake DelInterception decides to throw.

Isn't that a mark on just how much Miami has improved since 2007. The fact that I believe they can beat an undefeated rolling giant in the Saints.

Yep, you got that one. I wasn't aware of just how horrible the Giants secondary really was.

Guess this theory isn't working out too well.;)

Re: Patriots could put more distance between them & all other AFC East teams this wee

Loking forward one more to week 8, the pats have the bye and the Fins travel to New Jersey. So, I guess depending on how things go this week, the Pats could be even better off after week 8 without even playing.
I'm not so sure about that unless the beat the bejesus out of each other.
