Looking at this weekend games,it appears that the Patriots have a legit shot at pulling away and distancing themselves by another game over all their AFC East Rivals.

Taking a look at the East games this week...

Buffalo at Carolina - I think Buffalo put everything on the line last week to keep Jauron as HC for at least a few more weeks and gain some ground in the east standings but playing in Carolina is usually a tough place to win for mediocre to poor teams and since Buffalo is mediocre I say Carolina pulls it out - Carolina 17 Buffalo 14

New Orleans at Miami - Some think the Wildcat which Miami will need to work to stay in this game is going to help and it probably will keep Brees off the field a little longer than normal but the only problem is everytime Brees and his group get on the field they will score - The Saints look as unstoppable as a team I think we can all recall that looked the same way for 16 games in 2007 for that one team I can barely recall :) - New Orleans 30 Miami 21

New York Jets at Oakland - I don't think the Jets are bad enough to keep losing and I cetainly don't think the Raiders are good enough to win 2 games in a row,Thomas Jones was a stud against the Raiders last season, this could be close for 3 quarters but - Jets 27 Raiders 10

As I said if the Pats have no turnovers they should win by about 21 and the Jets are the only team I can see staying on pace with the Pats, but there is that chance that the Pats can pull another game away just as well if the Raiders defense stays on course...should be fun to watch!

As bad as Oakland is, I don't know that the game is an automatic win for the Jets. A lot of NFL teams have had a history of not performing very well when they have to travel from one coast to the other to play a game.

Loking forward one more to week 8, the pats have the bye and the Fins travel to New Jersey. So, I guess depending on how things go this week, the Pats could be even better off after week 8 without even playing.

I think all three of those games could go either way, but it is a bit hard for me to imagine Mia beating NO. Car seems eratic and Buf is Buf. I wouldn't put a lot of my own money on that. Seems like the Jets should beat the Raiders, but the Raiders did just beat Phi and the Jets are on a 3 game skid, so stranger things have happened.

Because I believe Mia is our biggest threat right now, I am pretty confident that this weekend will help us as we win and Mia loses. If the jets and/or Buf lose as well, then that is just icing on the cake.

They lost last season 16-13 in thier meeting with Oakland with that miraculous 57 yard kick by Janiskowski.

I think they won't lose to the Raiders 2 years in a row but like I said there is a chance that Seymour has his troops moving in the right direction the way they made McNabb's day miserable last sunday and could make it just as bad for the rookie Sanchez - If Rex Ryan wants to win this game he needs Jones and Washington to supply the offensive firepower and not ask Sanchez to win the game for them like he was asked to do the past 3 weeks.

Ryan is trying to make the Sanchez to Edwards combination to resemble the Brady to Moss combination...sorry but at this time it ain't working and Sanchez is recklessly forcing balls in tight quarters to Edwards ever since they acquired him from the Browns.

Part of me wants Miami to show N.O. how we play in the AFC East...I'm a little sick of the 2007 comparisons w Brees & N.O. when he's really only had 3 good games this year. Ultimately, I guess I can't really root for a division team to win though.

I agree with the poster who observed that any of those games could go either way. Let's just focus on taking care of business in London and let what is out of our control unfold on its own.

So every single game this weekend then... which sort of re-activates the discussion.

Patriots need to win the next 6 games if they want to be a division leader. I expect us to win this Sunday game by 2 TDs because i don't like to see us win a close game.

PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT are the key words.

But we're fans. We don't need to focus ourselves on taking care of business in the game at hand. Open up the wide bandwidth and enjoy all the games, especially those relevant to the Pats winning the AFCE. And I love the games that potentially influence our 2 extra 2010 2nd round picks.

No I would rather lose a close game than win one

I don't think the Jets Rookie QB will overcome a Raiders Defense. It looks like
all his receivers won't be back and Raiders secondary could make life very
difficult for the Rook. Raiders should be able to run against JETs( - Jenkins)
Raiders 20
Jets 10

I really like the Raiders to beat the Jets, so much in fact that I will make them one of my picks on my Pro-Line ticket this weekend.

Why do you think we need to win the next 6 games to be winning the division? The next 5 after the bye are as follows:

--Miami
--at Indy
--NY Jets
--at New Orleans
--at Miami

If we go 4-1, or even 3-2 we'd most likely still be just fine. I really don't see winning ALL of these 5 games, although we'd certainly make a helluva statement to the rest of the league. Beating 2 unbeaten teams (Indy and New Orleans) in their own stadiums, then beating the NY Jets in the rematch, AND winning both Miami games is a bit much to imagine. It obviously is the most important series in our whole season, I am hoping hard for 4 out of 5.

Indy and New Orleans has looked absolutely incredible, winning one of those + the rematch vs. the Jets, + sweeping a tough Miami team would be asking a lot of this team,IMO. Could be looking at 3-2 down this stretch, although I hope not. Sad thing is that everyone would be freaking around here if we went 3-2 against these very hard teams, I think it'd be an accomplishment.

well, i'd like to think i'm a "fan." and, my bandwidth is pretty wide, thanks. I'm 58--32 so far this season picking against the spread, so i guess i "enjoy all the games" too (the Globe writers' best at this point is 53--37). i just think it's a waste of time at this point in the season to try to speculate on who might or might not be leading or trailing in the division and by how much next Monday. i'll get into it a lot more in another month or so. but to each his/her own.

Thats a pretty good record vs the spread

I am in 2nd place in the Mohegan Sun Pick The Pros Contest at my Local Mohegan Sun Casino - I was in 1st place until last week when I lost 5 games ,I will get them back and be in first again by the end of this weekend ;) - So far only 19 losses in all the games played so far.

yeah, i got lucky out of my mind in week three and I only do it for an office pool with a big $5 bucks a week on the line...but as soon as i started to bet real money, i'd choke or lose...and it's a ***** when you have to pick all the games...some of them are definitely "look but don't touch"...

a coupleof tough calls this week...PANTHERS over Bills but seven points...i'm thinking of flipping a coin...leaning to Panthers now, but how do you see it? BENGALS/Bears with just one point...i'm taking Da Bears...got the Pats, but 14.5 in a windy stadium and unfamiliar setting is a lot of points to cover...sure makes things tense late Sunday afternoon...

This is pretty much the bottom line

As I had stated earlier in this thread,Carolina 17-14 over Buffalo which means the Bills and take the points - I think the Panthers will win but how can you lay 7 points for a team that absolutely STRUGGLED to beat Tampa Bay and not to mention that the Bills has slowly gotten healthier,Delhomme is a funny QB to try to figure out, sometimes Jake looks like the best in the league and other times he is as flat as a pancake.

As far as Cincy and the Bengals I agree with the Bears,I think Cincy will drop another as it seems once they start looking good they go back to thier old ways and I do think Cutler is going to get this Bears offense to a top level by the latter part of the season,Chicago and GB will make Minny work to win that division.

I usually stay away from the Pats when they are a double digit favorite,2 consecutive routs of 14 or more points in a row is not a common thing anymore,Many times the Pats play down to the level of their opponent and score just enough to win but then again TB could be the worst team in the league - I would not touch that line either way.

My best bet this week is Dallas -4 against Atlanta - Dallas is in a must win situation to stay alive in the East and for Wade to keep his job from a pissed off Jerry Jones and it looks as if Ware is getting healthier which will help the non existent pass rush they have,I think the Cowboys will run Barber and Jones wild on the poor Falcons run defense and Romo will hit a couple of good passes.

Good Luck to you in your bets PFS74!!

Jets were 0-4 on the west coast last year...
