Lockett has been active and seems to be starting to be integrated into the special teams units. He is also a backup safety who has been signed through 2011.

It seems that we now have three special team specialists signed through 2011: Aiken, Slater and Lockett. I am somewhat surprised that Woods and Alexander have not been given the same treatment.

That's because only one of those players (Aiken) was extended. Slater was signed for four years as a rookie, and the Pats claimed Lockett off waivers to the three-year deal Ratgini signed him to.

I thought Alexander was just extended?

Woods is playing under a $1.5 M RFA contract, and really hasn't shown anything at all. I view him and Alexander as bottom of the roster guys who can be easily replaced.

We now have at least 4 long-term injury inactives on the 53: Light, Taylor, Morris & Edelman.

We have Zero depth at RB, TE & WR. ZERO.

We have a surplus of depth at Safety.

Lockett (or Slater) must go, so that we can replenish our depth at one of the aforementioned positions.

While they're at it, the FO should also assign shOrtBurger to the Chicken Legs Crable IR list as soon as LeVoir is removed from the PUP.
