Rapoport: Edelman has a broken arm

Too bad. Pozluzny broke his arm Week 1 and returned Week 5 so Edelman could be back soon after the bye depending on how it heals.

Agreed. Time to activate Nunn from the practice squad, and get him snaps against Tampa Bay, then probably Miami after the bye.

QB12

Damn, that sucks. Looks like it's Nunn's time to step up.

Now it makes sense that writers reporting that Belichick was scrambling to find a wide receiver.

FWIW, it sounds like Belichick isn't planning to put him on IR just yet:

Speaking generally, coach Bill Belichick said, “We’ve got a couple guys that are banged up on the offensive side of the ball. In the long term, I think, everybody will be back at some point.“

Still not buying that rumor.

Good. If things play out just right, we could be getting him and Fred Taylor back in time for a playoff push. However, with this team and injuries, I doubt things play out just right. :(

We'd have to be desperate to do that unless there's complications. A broken bone is usually 6 weeks or so and Poz came back quicker than that. Edelman should be back around Week 12.

It's hard to say. Vrabel had a broken arm back in 2003 and only missed three weeks (the only games he missed in his eight years in Foxboro).

Conversely, other folks have had broken arms and been placed on IR.

I guess we'll have to wait and see and hope for the best.

funny how this is the only posting of this info I see anywhere. Has this been confirmed by anyone? Reece? (sp?)

I rewatched the end of the game to see where this might have happened. He had a catch on a fourth down near the goal line with 5 or 6 minutes left where he seemed to fall awkwardly and got up slowly. He continued to play after that, shaking his arm as if it was bothering him, and actually had another short catch, after which he seemed to be in a lot of discomfort. When he went to the sideline, it looked like a trainer was checking with him and he didn't come back in (I had wondered why Welker took the last punt). He did stay on the sideline until the end of the game.

So, at least, it's not a Junior Seau kind of broken arm.

Yea Seau had bones sticking out...Edelman's was most likely a singular fracture.......hopefully...

uh..before fullblown hysteria sets in...Edelman is a lesser talented mirror of Wes Welker. There are already wr's on the roster slotted outside so somebody gets the chance to step in and step up>Losing Edelman is NOT going to break the NE offense.

Made of glass.

And, for that matter, it'll give Belichick more time to refine the cloning process. :D
