BB and AD

He's been the best LB we've had pretty much the entire time he's been here. He had a tough time this year, but thats not unexpected in the scheme change.

Please give me another example of a player Belichick has benched to "set an example", and no, Joey Galloway isn't one. He was benched because Edelman is a better player in the current scheme.

LMAO, if I hear scheme change as an excuse one more time I'm going to die laughing. When the scheme was a 3-4 in 07/08 why was he still an average player?

He wasn't half the player he was in 07 that he was in 06. People here also have a delusion that he was great for us last year before his injury. Actually, he was just our only decent player in a terrible LB core. Also, you can't tell me he has been better than Mayo. Mayo alone makes a far bigger difference for his run defense.

Please give ME an example of a key defensive player BB has sat during a game, fully healthy, because he didn't fit the game plan that day. Wasn't at the field or anything, etc. Please, if you're going to say scheme change again just stop responding.

Can anyone explain why posters here call Adalius Thomas "AD" ?

His initials are AT, not AD.

yep ad has been overrated for the past two years, said it months ago

Ouch, I forgot about that one. I forgot he was benched before he was traded.

After he started *****ing about his playing time, Steve Martin got the axe late in the 2002 season.

Not trying to call you out but I'm sure there have been a few more that we just don't know about. IMO I think BB just reached his wits end with AD and was left with no other alternative than to damage his ego.

Yeah, but his last name is pronounced Domas.

Saying that he was not half the player he was in 2006 could be inaccurate. In the Ravens one gap style of the 3-4 he was asked to shoot the gaps and blitz a lot more often than he is in the Pats two gap style where LB's have more responsibilities than just rushing the QB every play. That's why I think the sacks were down when he came here. However in 2007 he still had 2 FF and 8 PD and a pick 6. Just because he wasn't piling up sacks doesnt mean he wasn't having an impact on defense. Just my two cents.

Enough with this and that. The damn excuses here are RIDICULOUS. It's pretty simple to me. McGinest/Vrabel has HUGE impacts at OLB stopping the run and rushing the passer. What the hell has Thomas done? Dropped back into coverage? He has not been great any particular area on the defense. You pay a guy like you pay Adalius Thomas because you believe he is worth that money.

We're paying a "player" a "play maker's" salary if that makes sense. Thomas hasn't sucked, he just is average while his contract is paying him otherwise. I'd be pissed too if I was BB.

I agree with you. I'm not making excuses for him but rather suggesting why he hasn't been the playmaker we thought he was.

He should not be getting paid like playmaker when he is performing like an average LB. Maybe we got deked out by AD b/c it was a contract year so he went balls to the wall and now that he got his fat contract he doesn't give a ****. I had very high hopes for him but obviously he hasn't lived up to his billing.

Not to mention the fact that he couldn't ****en wrap up and sack Eli Manning to preserve our perfect season. *******.

Fair point, I see what you're saying.

Exactly what you said is how I feel. What's ironic is perhaps the very game you're pissed at him for, is the one game he has ever looked like the guy we hoped. What's that tell you about his career here thus far? And yes, it probably is yet another guy who was hungry for the money.

ADT IS NOT GETTING TRADED. IT CANNOT BE DONE UNDER THE CAP.

Seriously people, stop suggesting that a Thomas trade is incoming. Unless you can find an extra $7M in cap space, it can't happen.

That said, I think that there's more going on behind the scenes than we know. I have no idea what the reason is, so I'm not going to bother speculating.

If traded the cap hit is on the pats and not the other team? Can't you add in a clause that the other team takes the cap burden?

That statement is not only unfair, it's incorrect.

I assume you're referring to the helmet catch by David Tyree. Jarvis Green and Seymour that were in on that play. They were both being held and practically tackled by the Giant O-liine but that's another story.

It was by far Adalius Thomas's best game as a Patriot and had the Patriots won that game AD was the MVP...hands down.

According to Deon Sanders (NFL) network, Thomas was not happy with his benching and will work things out with BB.

If Thomas is disappointed, he might consider sacking up and earning that giant ****ing paycheck he got. He's been a major disappointment. Hell, they got more out of Rosevelt Colvin, and they LOST him to a career-ruining injury.

Apparently, Ray Lewis WAS a lot better than we gave him credit for. The reason Adalius looked so good in Baltimore was 'cause he was being ignored by the other team. And Baltimore was smart enough to let him walk, and New England was stupid enough to hand him the keys to Fort Knox. The Ravens must be getting a nice chuckle over it.

I am not sure iof this was already posted. i didn't have time to look through the whole thread. but this is clearly a punishment for off the field issue. Or he missed a meeting or a practice without an excuse or calling in.

He either was late or didn't show up for meetings, or was late or didn't show up for practice, or it is an off the field issue. Like he got too lit up one night, and had to get carried home, and was puking in practice the next day.

Either way they didn't want the reason to go public, but I am 100% positive AD knows why he was inactive, and it is clearly a punishment for something.

Since we're just pulling stuff out of our rear ends now, let me take it away. Maybe a few weeks ago he got drunk and started drunk dialing. First he called Kraft and told him a few of his favorite Jewish jokes. Then he started calling the 31 other teams pretending to be Belichick and telling them he was frantically trying to find a third receiver. And then, still not satisfied, he decided to suck on the field for the last 3 years.

This is totally awesome.

No, you can't.

When did Thomas become the board pariah? Is it because Ben Watson turned out to be good and Seymour is gone? You guys could only focus your irrational fan rage on Maroney alone for so long, so now it's on Thomas too?

I think its exactly as your proposing. Someone has to suck out loud, right?

Right on- so if Thomas stays deactivated, who 'steps up'? My money's on Bodden or Springs- the first time either one of them gets beaten in coverage, I could see the whole board turning on them in about 2 seconds.
