No Safety?

I'm not complaining about the call, but in the fourth quarter, the Titans had a bad snap that went into the endzone. The QB did not recover it until he was in the endzone then dropped it, or was hit. I am surprised that this was not a safety. The referees said forward progress was stopped at the two, but that was so obviously wrong. Do you think the refs were showing mercy to the Titans to keep the game from getting any worse for them? Do you think if the score was close, they would have correctly called a safety? Should the referees let the score determine how they are going to call a play, or should they just be consistent and make the correct call? Where I was watching the game, we were all yelling at BB to throw the red flag, but we were laughing and joking about it.

Yes.

That was truly one of the worst calls I've ever seen in the NFL. Because of the context, it didn't matter, but still - refs should call the game properly, no matter the score.

The NFL took a hit with that 59-0 score.

They sure as heck didn't want to see it in the 60s.

People pay good money to watch football. The Foxboro crowd left the game early.

I'm sure all of this was going through the refs minds.

It was clearly a safety. Obvioulsy. They asked Brady on WEEI this morning about whether Belichick might have considered challenging it and Brady said he'd have tried to catch the flag if Belichick had thrown it. Good stuff.

Well, I was there, didn't leave early, and sure as heck wanted to see a score in the 60s. I wanted 73-0, which the Pats could've done if they tried. The safety should've been called.

I think the refs took pity on the Titans. Could you seriously imagine what the talking heads would be saying this morning if BB threw the challenge flag?????

Maybe the ref's took pity on the Titans, however I hope the league does not. During the game there had to be at least two helmet-to-helmet hits that should result in fines. I remember there was one on Brady and also Moss which even after the replay got me far out of my chair. With all the talk of head injuries and the NFL trying to protect players from incurring them, they need to hand out fines and make some Titans donate.
